Lucid USA II, Inc. won the auction for selected Nikola assets on April 10, 2025, in a deal valued at approximately $30 million in cash and non-cash consideration. The package included Nikola’s Coolidge, Arizona, manufacturing facility, leases for its Coolidge and Phoenix sites, and certain equipment and inventory. Lucid also committed to offer jobs to at least 300 Nikola employees; that commitment does not establish how many accepted or were hired.
What Lucid acquired
The winning bid covered selected facilities and related assets, not Nikola Corporation as a whole and not its truck business. The assets included:
- Nikola’s manufacturing facility in Coolidge, Arizona.
- Leases for facilities in Coolidge and Phoenix, including the Phoenix headquarters and product development center.
- Certain machinery, equipment, and inventory. The public descriptions do not provide a complete item-by-item inventory of what transferred.
Lucid said the two buildings together added more than 884,000 square feet to its Arizona footprint. It identified equipment at the sites including battery and environmental testing chambers, a full-size chassis dynamometer, and machining equipment. These are Lucid’s descriptions of the acquired facilities and assets.
How the auction and sale proceeded
Nikola’s debtors selected Lucid USA II, Inc., or its related purchaser designee, after multiple rounds of competitive bidding. A declaration filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware says four qualified bidders were considered for the assets sold to Lucid.

- April 10, 2025: The auction for the core operational assets concluded, and the asset purchase agreement was dated.
- April 11, 2025: The bankruptcy court entered an order approving the Lucid sale, according to the court-filed sale material.
The auction result is distinct from the court’s approval: Lucid was selected as the successful bidder on April 10, and the sale order followed on April 11. The court declaration also describes other Nikola asset sales, including a separate sale of a Wabash Valley Resources interest and a note; those were not part of Lucid’s purchase.
What the approximately $30 million figure means
The bankruptcy declaration describes the transaction as approximately $30 million in cash and non-cash consideration. It is therefore inaccurate to describe the entire amount as cash paid to Nikola. The non-cash consideration included release of an existing letter of credit related to the headquarters lease.

Nikola’s later annual filing describes sale-related amounts using different accounting terms, including $10.0 million and an additional $7.0 million subject to specified use, as well as assumed liabilities. Those figures are not directly interchangeable with the court declaration’s approximate total consideration; the available materials do not provide a complete reconciliation between the different presentations.
What is known about Nikola employees
The sale declaration says Lucid was obligated to extend offers to no fewer than 300 Nikola employees. Lucid’s announcement said it planned to make offers to more than 300 former employees. These sources establish an offer commitment and stated plan, not the number of people who accepted offers, started work, or remained employed later.

Why Lucid said it wanted the sites
Lucid described the facilities as a way to expand manufacturing, warehousing, testing, and development capacity in Arizona. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said the acquisition was an opportunity to support Lucid’s production ramp for Gravity and preparation for midsize platform vehicles, while supporting the local community. That statement explains Lucid’s rationale; it is not evidence by itself of a measured increase in production or cost savings.

Lucid’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, filed May 5, 2026, reported $94.0 million in finance lease assets and $98.9 million in finance lease liabilities related to certain facility leases assumed in connection with the Nikola acquisition. This provides a later accounting reference for assumed leases. It does not establish whether the former Nikola facilities were producing vehicles, how much they were producing, or what operational returns the acquisition generated.

Nikola’s subsequent filings describe the company as winding down after substantially all its assets were sold through bankruptcy proceedings; they also say truck operations ceased. That does not mean Lucid acquired or took over Nikola’s truck business.
