Is Google Opinion Rewards legitimate?
Yes. Google Opinion Rewards is an official Google app distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Legitimate does not mean lucrative. Google does not promise a daily survey, fixed monthly earnings, or unlimited opportunities. Some setup, validation, recruitment, and screening surveys may not pay. Use the official app stores and avoid unofficial APK files, “survey bots,” and pages claiming that a referral code is required.

How it works
Market researchers use Google’s survey systems to ask about subjects such as advertising, brands, shopping intentions, travel, products, logos, and local-business experiences. Google selects users based on available survey inventory and eligibility, then sends invitations through the app.
Survey availability is random. You normally cannot open the app and request additional surveys. Google says invitations generally give you 24 hours to respond, so enabled notifications matter. Answer accurately and attentively; attempts to manipulate answers or rush through surveys can reduce future eligibility.
Some programs may ask about locations, local businesses, or receipts. Those tasks can involve additional permissions and disclosures and are not available to every user.

The platform difference is the most important thing to understand before signing up:
- Android: rewards are normally Google Play credit. They can be used for eligible apps, games, digital content, and subscriptions through Google Play, but they are not unrestricted cash and cannot ordinarily be transferred to a bank account or PayPal.
- iPhone: rewards are generally sent to PayPal where the iOS payment program is supported. PayPal is more flexible than store credit, but you must complete identity and payment setup and reach the payout threshold.
Reward histories are separate. Credit earned on Android does not transfer to iPhone, and switching platforms does not convert Google Play credit into PayPal cash. See Google’s platform overview.

How much does it pay?
iPhone and PayPal
Google’s current PayPal help page says completed surveys generally pay $0.10 to $1.00. Payments are sent automatically once the account reaches $2.00. The amount and availability can vary by country, survey, and account.
If the Opinion Rewards and PayPal email addresses differ, Google says you may need to associate the Google Opinion Rewards email with PayPal. The first payment must generally be accepted within 30 days. Payments can take several days to appear.

Android and Google Play
Android rewards vary according to factors such as survey length and the number of questions. The U.S. Google Play listing says users can receive up to $1 in Play credit per completed survey. “Up to” is a maximum, not an average or guarantee.
Google does not publish a universal survey frequency or monthly earnings figure. Anyone promising a dependable weekly or monthly amount is making a claim Google does not support.
Who can use it?
Google’s support documentation says users must be at least 18 and live in a country where the relevant version of the app is available. Availability differs by platform and can change.

Google’s Android availability page currently lists countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and several others. A separate general availability page lists a shorter set for another platform or program context. Because Google’s pages are not one universal country list, check the official app listing for your country and device before relying on the service.
For iPhone, Google’s installation help has listed iOS 10.0 or later, but current App Store support and PayPal arrangements should be verified locally.
How to install and set it up
Android
- Open Google Play and search for Google Opinion Rewards.
- Confirm that Google is the developer, then install the app.
- Sign in with the Google Account connected to the Google Play payment profile you intend to use.
- Complete the demographic and setup questions.
- Enable notifications and answer surveys honestly.
Using the wrong Google Account is a common reason that expected credit appears to be missing.
iPhone
- Install the official app from the App Store.
- Complete identity verification and provide the requested name, postal code, country, and payment information.
- Connect the PayPal email address intended to receive payments.
- Accept the terms and complete the gender and language preferences.
- Enable notifications.
Google requires identity verification for payment on its documented iOS setup.
How to receive and use rewards
Using Android credit
After completing a paid survey, check the confirmation in Opinion Rewards. Open Google Play with the same Google Account and use the balance for eligible purchases. Check the app’s home screen for the oldest credit’s expiration date: each Play credit expires one year after it was earned, and older credits may expire together.

Receiving PayPal payments
iOS payments accumulate until the account reaches $2. If the Google and PayPal email addresses match, payment is generally automatic. If they do not, add the Google Opinion Rewards email address to PayPal and accept the first payment within the required 30-day period. Google says payments may take several days; report a payment that is still missing after seven days through the app’s feedback option.
Privacy and information use
Google says survey responses are generally aggregated and anonymous unless a survey states otherwise. That is not the same as saying every part of the service is anonymous.
- Google may request demographic information such as age, gender, language, ZIP code, or postal code.
- Responses may be temporarily associated with a Google Account.
- Location-based or receipt-related programs may involve location information and additional disclosures.
- Google says survey answers do not directly change the ads you see, although aggregated information may be used to improve ad relevance.

In the European Union, Google says Digital Markets Act settings can control whether certain services are linked. Google identifies services such as Search, YouTube, Chrome, Play Store, Shopping, Ads, and Maps as relevant to Opinion Rewards eligibility.

Are referrals available?
Google has described a limited referral program, including a $0.50 reward for both parties in the United States, subject to eligibility, caps, and change. It may be invite-only; iPhone users may receive rewards through Android friends without necessarily being able to send their own links. Referrals are not required to join, and terms should be checked in the app.
Is Google Opinion Rewards worth it?
It is worth trying if you already use Google Play, want occasional credit, or use an iPhone and are comfortable receiving small PayPal payments. The surveys are usually low effort, but the opportunities are unpredictable.
