The DRESSX–Crypto.com NFT release was real, but it was announced in 2021—not an upcoming launch. Crypto.com said the DRESSX COSMIC collection would go live on August 29, 2021, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. The garments were inspired by SpaceX; the available sources do not establish an official SpaceX partnership or endorsement, and they do not confirm that the original NFTs are still available for primary purchase.
What the 2021 partnership involved
DRESSX brought digital garments and a fashion experience to Crypto.com NFT, which provided the marketplace for minting, custody and trading the NFTs. The idea was to connect a blockchain collectible with a use: Crypto.com said initial buyers would receive access to corresponding garments they could use in DRESSX, including in augmented-reality photos. Crypto.com’s announcement described the drop as the platform’s introduction of digital fashion.
The dates matter because the original headline used future tense. Crypto.com published its announcement on August 25, 2021; Tech Times reported on it on August 26; the stated collection start was August 29, 2021, at 9 a.m. PT. Those are historical dates, not a current release schedule. Tech Times’ report is the source for the contemporaneous coverage.
What was in the DRESSX COSMIC collection?
DRESSX COSMIC was presented as the inaugural DRESSX NFT collection on Crypto.com: a limited-time set of virtual fashion inspired by SpaceX. Tech Times reported at least three pieces. The Crypto.com announcement confirms the collection but does not state its item count.

These were digital garments, not physical SpaceX clothing. A DRESSX product page for one design says it drew on public-domain imagery from official SpaceX photos, digitally enhanced by Rawpixel. The page identifies imagery associated with the Crew Dragon Pad Abort Test on May 6, 2015, and labels it public-domain CC0 material. That supports describing the design as SpaceX-inspired, not as officially endorsed merchandise. DRESSX’s product page provides that image context.
The reviewed sources do not confirm that SpaceX commercially partnered with, licensed the collection to, or endorsed DRESSX or Crypto.com. Nor do they establish that buying a token transferred copyright, commercial rights, or ownership of the underlying imagery.
How an NFT connected to wearing a digital garment
The NFT and the garment’s use were related, but they were not the same thing. The NFT was a blockchain-based collectible held in a Crypto.com NFT wallet. The garment was a digital asset made available through DRESSX, with the promotion linking access to an unlock code or equivalent redemption process.

- Use the garment: Depending on the item and supported feature, a user could digitally dress a photo or use it in DRESSX’s AR experience.
A later DRESSX product page illustrates a similar NFT-to-garment workflow: purchase through Crypto.com, receive the asset and unlock code, redeem through DRESSX, then attach a photo for a digitally dressed result. A code, linked account, supported app and active redemption terms could all matter. A token purchased later from another owner should not be assumed to include the original promotional access unless the listing or current terms explicitly confirm that it does.
NFTs versus ordinary DRESSX digital looks
DRESSX distinguishes blockchain NFTs from its regular digital looks. An NFT is a blockchain-minted, limited-edition asset that may be resold and may include specific utilities. Regular digital garments are generally bought through traditional payment methods and are often used on one photo at a time. The available uses depend on the product; owning an NFT does not make every garment wearable in every game or virtual world.

What was the reported price?
Tech Times reported that the items started at one ETH. That figure is a 2021 secondary-reporting claim: Crypto.com’s announcement confirms the collection and launch time but does not state a price. It should not be treated as an independently confirmed official price or a current quote. An ETH-denominated amount also does not translate into one fixed dollar price; the conversion depends on the exchange rate at the purchase time.
Can you still buy the original SpaceX-inspired NFTs?
The available sources establish the planned 2021 launch, but do not establish that DRESSX COSMIC remains available for primary purchase on Crypto.com NFT. A product page remaining online does not show that a drop is open, that an item is in stock, or that its redemption feature still works. Crypto.com’s announcement also cautioned that availability could vary by jurisdiction and directed buyers to the drop page and creator channels.

If you encounter a current listing, verify its status and terms before paying:
- Check whether it is a primary listing or a resale, who the seller is, and which blockchain the token uses.
- Confirm whether the NFT can be transferred and whether any DRESSX code or garment access is included and still redeemable.
- Check current Crypto.com and DRESSX account, wallet, app and regional requirements.
- Do not assume the garment supports AR, photo dressing, avatar use or a particular virtual world unless the item’s current terms say so.
Marketplace access, wallet support, payment methods and regional availability may have changed since 2021. Crypto.com’s marketplace is at crypto.com/nft; its presence does not by itself verify inventory for this historical drop.

The release joined three ideas: digital fashion, collectible scarcity and a practical use in AR. Digital garments can let people create styled content without buying and shipping a physical outfit, while an NFT can make a particular digital asset scarce and tradable. Those features may suit collectors and people interested in digital identity, but neither scarcity nor resale creates a guaranteed financial return.

DRESSX presents digital garments as a way to reduce the environmental cost of making clothing for one-off photos. That is the company’s rationale, not proof that every NFT transaction is environmentally neutral. Blockchain activity, devices, data storage and platform infrastructure also have environmental costs. - Price exposure: An ETH price can vary in dollar terms as cryptocurrency markets move.
- Platform dependence: Use could rely on Crypto.com, DRESSX accounts, compatible apps and working redemption systems.
- Limited portability: A token does not automatically make its garment compatible with every game, social network or metaverse.
- Liquidity and utility risk: A limited-edition item may be hard to resell, and promotional codes or app features can change or expire.
- Intellectual-property uncertainty: SpaceX inspiration or use of public-domain imagery is not the same as an official SpaceX collaboration or a transfer of rights.
How DRESSX’s focus has broadened
The 2021 Crypto.com drop was one Web3 experiment within a wider digital-fashion business. DRESSX’s later news archive covers work involving avatar fashion, Roblox, Meta Horizon Worlds, Snapchat and Bitmoji, AI styling, digital try-on, games and platform partnerships. That expansion provides context, but it does not establish that the original DRESSX COSMIC items work on those services. Compatibility remains specific to the item and platform.
