Bad Bunny is not reported to receive a conventional star performance fee for the Super Bowl LX halftime show. Reporting describes the usual arrangement as no headline paycheck, though CBS says performers receive union-scale pay—about $1,000 per day under the contract current when it reported in 2026—and that the NFL typically covers expenses. Neither figure is a disclosed accounting of Bad Bunny’s contract or total compensation.
What “won’t get paid” means
The phrase usually means a halftime performer does not receive the standard, negotiated concert fee a major artist might charge for a headline performance. The Associated Press says halftime artists do not get a paycheck for performing; CBS reports union-scale compensation of roughly $1,000 per day under SAG-AFTRA’s then-current contract. These accounts describe general practice, not Bad Bunny’s individual contract.

That distinction matters: the approximate daily union rate is not a confirmed total for Bad Bunny. His number of paid days and contract terms have not been publicly itemized in the reporting cited here. It would therefore overstate the evidence to say either that he received exactly $1,000 or that he received no money whatsoever. CBS News explains the reported union-scale pay and expense practice; the Associated Press describes the broader no-paycheck arrangement.

Who pays the show’s costs?
According to CBS, the NFL typically pays performers’ expenses, which can run into millions of dollars. That is a statement about expenses in general, not a disclosed Bad Bunny budget or a payment to him personally. Production spending and artist compensation are different: a covered expense helps pay for putting on the show, but does not establish the performer’s take-home pay.

Why perform without a conventional headline fee?
The halftime show is a promotional platform as well as a performance. The AP describes global exposure as the performers’ payoff. For Bad Bunny, the potential benefit is attention from a huge audience and the discovery that can follow—not a guaranteed income amount. The NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music all have roles in the event: Roc Nation has curated performers since 2019, Apple Music distributes the performance, and the NFL controls the stage, broadcast, and branding.
The NFL reported 128.2 million U.S. viewers for the halftime show between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. ET; that is the halftime audience, not the game’s separate average of 124.9 million. It also reported four billion social views in the first 24 hours, with more than 55% of NFL social views coming from international markets, attributing the social-consumption measurement to Ripple Analytics. These are views and consumption metrics, not unique-person counts or earnings. The NFL’s report gives its audience and social figures.

Apple Music reported listening immediately after the show was seven times higher, according to the NFL. AP, citing Apple Music data, reported more than 400% more Shazam recognitions during and immediately after the performance than Bad Bunny’s daily average. It also reported 23 of his songs in Apple Music’s Daily Top 100 Global after the show, with “DtMF” at No. 1; the NFL’s report gave a different chart-day count of 24 songs. AP further reported that his album charted in 155 countries, reached the Top 10 in 128, and ranked No. 1 in 46. Chart placements and discovery activity show reach, not sales, royalties, or the financial value of the exposure. The AP report details Apple Music’s post-show data.

What the public figures can—and cannot—tell you
| Measure | Reported figure | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Union-scale pay | About $1,000 per day under SAG-AFTRA’s then-current contract, as reported by CBS in 2026 | Bad Bunny’s rate, paid days, contract total, or take-home pay |
| Halftime audience | 128.2 million U.S. viewers from 8:15–8:30 p.m. ET, according to the NFL in 2026 | Unique viewers worldwide or income to the performer |
| Social views | Four billion in the first 24 hours; over 55% of NFL social views were from international markets, per the NFL’s 2026 report citing Ripple Analytics | Unique people, royalties, or revenue |
| Apple Music listening | Seven times higher immediately after the show, per the NFL’s 2026 report | A stream count, royalty rate, or payment to Bad Bunny |
| Shazam activity | More than 400% above Bad Bunny’s daily average during and immediately after the show, per AP’s 2026 report of Apple Music data | Sales or a dollar value for the promotion |
| Apple Music chart presence | AP reported 23 songs in the Daily Top 100 Global, including “DtMF” at No. 1; the NFL reported 24 songs in its chart-day snapshot | Equivalent chart snapshots, sales, streams, or earnings |
| Album chart reach | Charted in 155 countries, Top 10 in 128, and No. 1 in 46, per AP’s 2026 report of Apple Music data | Sales, royalties, or net financial gain |
None of these audience or platform measures reveals Bad Bunny’s royalties, ticket-sales uplift, personal costs, or net financial benefit. No artist-specific contract or audited financial outcome is disclosed in the cited reporting, so the promotional value is plausible but not quantifiable from these figures.

Why Bad Bunny accepted the booking
The public rationale is consistent with a performance designed to reach far beyond a normal concert audience. In the NFL’s announcement, Bad Bunny said: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.” CBS reported that he described the show at an Apple Music press event as “a huge party” and said he wanted to bring “a lot of my culture” to the stage. Those comments offer cultural and artistic context; they do not disclose financial terms. The NFL announcement names Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX headliner.
