Humanoid-robotics startup Apptronik announced a $520 million Series A-X extension on February 11, 2026. Combined with its earlier financing, the extension takes Apptronik’s total Series A funding to more than $935 million and its total capital raised to nearly $1 billion, according to the company.

Apptronik did not disclose an exact valuation in its announcement. TechCrunch reported a post-money valuation of approximately $5.3 billion, while Bloomberg reported that the financing valued the company at more than $5.5 billion. The defensible takeaway is that Apptronik is now valued above $5 billion—not that $935 million was raised in the latest round.

What Apptronik raised

The latest financing was an extension of Apptronik’s Series A, not a conventional new Series B. The company called it a Series A-X extension and said it was driven by substantial inbound investor interest rather than an actively solicited Series B.

Date Financing event Amount
February 2025 Initial Series A announcement $350 million
March 2025 Additional Series A financing Earlier company release described the total as $403 million
February 2026 Series A-X extension $520 million
February 2026 Total Series A, using the company’s latest accounting More than $935 million

Apptronik’s latest release describes the initial 2025 Series A as $415 million. That differs slightly from the company’s earlier $403 million disclosure after the additional 2025 funding. For the current total, the latest company figure is the appropriate one: $415 million plus the $520 million extension brought the Series A above $935 million.

That distinction matters. The new money announced in February 2026 was $520 million. The $935 million figure is cumulative Series A funding.

Why was this still called a Series A?

Apptronik said the extension was priced at roughly three times the valuation of its initial Series A. TechCrunch reported that the initial Series A valuation was approximately $1.75 billion and that the later financing valued Apptronik at about $5.3 billion.

In practical terms, “Series A-X” means an extension of the same preferred-equity financing rather than evidence that Apptronik had reached the operating maturity typically associated with a Series B. The label is less important than the economics: investors funded the company at a substantially higher price than in 2025.

A private-company valuation is also not the same as revenue, profit or independently verified business value. It is the price implied by a financing transaction and can reflect expectations about future growth, strategic value and market conditions.

Who invested?

The 2026 extension included repeat participation from B Capital, Google, Mercedes-Benz and PEAK6. New investors named by Apptronik were AT&T Ventures, John Deere and the Qatar Investment Authority.

The investor mix gives the round strategic significance beyond its size:

  • Google: Apptronik has a strategic robotics-AI relationship with Google DeepMind involving Gemini Robotics.
  • Mercedes-Benz: The automaker is both an investor and a commercial partner involved in Apollo deployment work.
  • John Deere: Its participation connects Apptronik to another major industrial-equipment and manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Qatar Investment Authority: QIA said its investment supports scaled production and global deployment of Apollo.
  • B Capital and PEAK6: These investors provide venture and financial backing alongside the corporate participants.

Investment relationships should not be confused with commercial contracts. A named investor is not necessarily a paying customer, and a pilot or strategic partnership does not establish large-scale revenue.

What Apptronik is building

Apptronik is based in Austin and originated from the University of Texas at Austin’s Human Centered Robotics Lab. Its flagship humanoid platform, Apollo, is intended for industrial environments including logistics, manufacturing, warehousing and retail.

The company highlights use cases such as:

  • Goods-to-person warehouse workflows
  • Packout and kitting
  • Inspection and sorting
  • Machine and tool tending
  • Material handling and other manufacturing operations

The humanoid design is based on the idea that a robot shaped for human workspaces can use existing racks, carts, tools, stations and processes without requiring every facility to be rebuilt. That is a potentially valuable advantage, but it is not automatically cheaper or more reliable than purpose-built automation.

For a single highly structured task, a robotic arm, conveyor, automated guided vehicle or dedicated warehouse system may still be the better financial choice.

Apollo 2, Apollo 3 and Robot Park

In a June 2026 update, Apptronik identified Apollo 2 as its current data-collection and training platform. It is available in two configurations:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Bipedal: Intended for environments designed around human movement.
  • Wheeled-base: Intended to provide greater stability and efficiency in high-throughput industrial settings.

Apptronik says data collected with Apollo 2 is being used to develop Apollo 3, which the company describes as its next-generation commercial product. The available company material does not establish that Apollo 3 is commercially available, nor does it publish a price.

Apptronik is also expanding Robot Park, a network of facilities for collecting operational data and training robots through teleoperation, autonomous execution and simulation. The expanded Austin facility is nearly 90,000 square feet. Apptronik says fleets are operating at Robot Park locations and at customer or partner sites.

Robot Park is strategically important because the company is treating data infrastructure as a core asset. Humanoid robotics requires more than mechanical hardware. Developers need task data, safety data, failure-and-recovery data, teleoperation systems, simulation tools and fleet-management software. The intended feedback loop is:

  1. Robots operate in simulated, company-run or customer environments.
  2. Those activities produce task, safety and failure data.
  3. Data helps improve AI models and robot control.
  4. Improved systems support broader deployments and additional data collection.

Apptronik describes Fleet Connect as an operational layer for monitoring robot status, orchestrating tasks, managing deployments, collecting data and optimizing fleet outcomes. The company does not present it as a standalone fleet-management product for unrelated robot brands.

What the financing will fund

Apptronik said the money will support Apollo production, commercial and pilot deployments, robot-training and data-collection facilities, and development of another robot expected to debut in 2026. Its relationship with Jabil is intended to help scale Apollo manufacturing.

The use of proceeds shows that Apptronik is trying to move beyond demonstrations and toward a repeatable industrial business. It still faces the capital requirements typical of advanced robotics: actuators, batteries, sensors, onboard computing, testing, maintenance, fleet operations, manufacturing capacity and site integration.

Commercial progress: what is known and unknown

Apptronik has announced relationships involving Google DeepMind, Mercedes-Benz, GXO Logistics and Jabil, as well as activity at customer and partner sites. Those announcements indicate meaningful industry engagement, but they do not by themselves establish mass deployment or profitable operations.

There is no public information in the reviewed sources establishing:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • How many Apollo robots have been shipped or deployed
  • How many customers are paying for production use
  • Apptronik’s revenue or backlog
  • Apollo’s purchase price, lease rate or robotics-as-a-service fee
  • Operating cost, gross margin or customer payback period
  • Uptime, failure rates or maintenance costs under sustained industrial workloads
  • The percentage of work completed autonomously versus through human teleoperation

That last point is particularly important. A robot completing a task with human supervision is not equivalent to a fully autonomous system operating independently across multiple shifts.

Industrial progress should be assessed in stages:

  1. A successful demonstration
  2. A supervised pilot
  3. A deployment at a customer site
  4. A repeatable workflow operating over multiple shifts
  5. A production fleet delivering measurable savings or output
  6. A scalable business with recurring revenue and acceptable maintenance costs

The available evidence supports strong investor backing, active development and deployment activity. It does not prove that Apptronik has completed the final stages of that progression.

Why investors may be attracted

  • Strategic access: Investors and partners can provide industrial environments, manufacturing expertise and AI capabilities in addition to capital.
  • Existing-workplace compatibility: A humanoid may be useful where facilities and tools were designed for people.
  • Multiple configurations: Bipedal and wheeled Apollo versions allow Apptronik to target different operating conditions.
  • Potential data advantage: Robot Park and customer-site operations could create an expanding dataset for embodied-AI development.
  • Manufacturing ambition: The Jabil relationship is aimed at production scale rather than a purely prototype-driven business.

The risks behind the headline valuation

The financing is a strong signal of investor conviction, but it does not remove the central risks of humanoid robotics.

  • Valuation risk: A $5 billion-plus private valuation is an implied financing price, not proof of present-day earnings power.
  • Unit economics: Apptronik has not publicly disclosed the cost of an Apollo system, operating expenses, maintenance requirements or customer return on investment.
  • Deployment risk: A robot that works in a controlled demonstration may struggle with variability, downtime, safety constraints and integration at production sites.
  • Autonomy risk: Teleoperation can help collect training data and support early deployments, but the labor required for supervision affects the economics.
  • Manufacturing risk: Producing sophisticated robots consistently and at useful volume is different from building prototypes.
  • Form-factor risk: Humanoids may be flexible, but flexibility can carry more mechanical and software complexity than task-specific automation.
  • Safety and compliance: Buyers need site risk assessments, worker training, emergency-stop procedures, maintenance plans and compliance with applicable machinery and workplace-safety requirements.
  • Capital intensity: The company may need substantial additional investment before deployments generate attractive margins.

What this means for investors and industrial buyers

For investors, the round suggests that Apptronik has attracted unusually strong financial and strategic support in a crowded humanoid-robotics market. It does not provide enough public information to calculate a conventional valuation based on revenue, earnings or cash flow.

For industrial buyers, the relevant question is not whether Apollo is humanoid. It is whether Apollo can perform a specific workflow more safely, reliably and economically than existing labor or automation alternatives.

Companies evaluating Apollo should request evidence on:

  1. Performance on the exact target workflow
  2. Human supervision requirements
  3. Safety validation and site-integration requirements
  4. Uptime and mean time between failures
  5. Maintenance, spare-parts and service support
  6. Fleet-management functions
  7. Total cost of ownership and expected payback
  8. Ability to redeploy the system when workflows change
  9. Available financing, leasing or robotics-as-a-service terms

Apptronik does not publish standard pricing in the reviewed material. Industrial operators interested in potential Apollo deployments can use the company’s official inquiry page.

Bottom line

Apptronik’s February 2026 financing was a $520 million Series A-X extension, taking its cumulative Series A above $935 million—not a $935 million new round. Outside reports place the resulting valuation at approximately $5.3 billion to more than $5.5 billion, while Apptronik’s own announcement did not state an exact figure.

The company has moved beyond pure prototype development, with industrial partnerships, pilot and customer-site activity, Robot Park infrastructure and a plan to scale Apollo production. But the investment case still depends on converting that support into reliable deployments, repeatable revenue and defensible customer economics. Until Apptronik discloses unit volumes, pricing, supervision requirements, uptime and payback, the valuation should be read as a measure of investor expectations—not proof that humanoid robots have become a mature automation business.
