When did the Model Y Performance launch in the U.S.?
Tesla’s October 22, 2025 quarterly update said the Model Y Performance launched in the United States in October 2025. The company had introduced the refreshed Performance model on August 29, 2025, presenting it as a sportier version of the broader 2025 Model Y redesign. Tesla’s Q3 2025 update is the source for U.S. launch timing; the earlier design announcement was published on Tesla Ireland’s site.

How fast is it, and what does the range figure mean?
The published 3.3-second 0–60 mph figure is Tesla’s acceleration estimate with rollout subtracted; it should not be treated as a directly comparable independent test unless another vehicle’s figure uses the same method. Tesla lists a 155 mph top speed. The 306-mile figure is EPA-estimated range, not a guarantee of distance in everyday driving.
What features distinguish the Performance trim?
Tesla highlights adaptive suspension, 21-inch wheels, performance-oriented tires and brake calipers, more aerodynamic front and rear fascias, and a carbon spoiler. Those are manufacturer descriptions of the hardware and design; they do not establish a particular handling advantage in independent testing.

The Performance also has features associated with the redesigned Model Y rather than this trim alone. Tesla’s 2025 redesign announcement described an 8-inch second-row touchscreen, dual-Bluetooth device connectivity, and improved cellular and Wi-Fi performance. The same announcement claimed lower road, impact, and wind noise and more range for the redesigned Model Y versus earlier Model Y vehicles; those comparisons are Tesla’s claims and are not Performance-specific measurements. How practical are charging, seating and cargo?
Tesla lists five seats and 76 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Its U.S. page gives a maximum Supercharging rate of 250 kW, with charging paid per use, and estimates up to 144 miles added in 15 minutes. Tesla says that 15-minute estimate uses constant-speed data at 65 mph; actual charging performance and range added vary with conditions, including battery state of charge and temperature. It is not a guaranteed result for every charging stop.

The exact current mainland-U.S. purchase price is not established by the available price information. A $57,990 figure surfaced on a Tesla configurator route for Puerto Rico, so it should not be presented as the mainland price or as a confirmed all-in amount.
