Then check the shoe’s intended terrain, fit and width options, and today’s local price. These categories help narrow your choices; they are not independent proof that one shoe is best for you.
First, match the shoe to where you run
Nike’s current U.S. running catalog separates shoes by road, trail, and racing use. Begin with that distinction: a road shoe is not automatically the right pick for rugged trails, and a daily road-running model is not necessarily designed for racing. The models discussed below are Nike’s road-running framework, not a guide to its basketball, lifestyle, or other footwear lines. Nike’s U.S. running catalog lists Pegasus 42, Vomero 18, and Structure 26 among its current road-running choices.
Choose a road-running model by the ride you prefer
Nike describes its main road franchises by cushioning feel. Treat that as a useful shortlist, then decide by trying the shoe and checking whether it suits your runs.
| Model | Nike’s stated positioning | U.S. Nike.com price in the 2026-10-04 access snapshot |
|---|---|---|
| Pegasus 42 | Responsive cushioning; the Pegasus franchise is described as providing energy return for everyday use. | $155; catalog price at access, subject to change. Source |
| Vomero 18 | Maximum cushioning, positioned for a plush, comfortable ride. | $165; catalog price at access, subject to change. Source |
| Structure 26 | Supportive cushioning for a stable, guided ride. | $145 for the men’s listing; price at access, subject to change. Source |
Pegasus: responsive cushioning
Consider the Pegasus if you want Nike’s responsive-cushioning category for regular road runs. Nike’s lineup announcement summarizes the franchise as offering “responsive cushioning for all-day energy return.” That is the brand’s positioning, not a measured comparison against the other models. The U.S. catalog listed Pegasus 42 at $155 when accessed on October 4, 2026. Nike’s lineup announcement

Vomero: maximum cushioning
The Vomero is Nike’s maximum-cushioning option, described by the brand as designed for plush comfort and longer, easier runs. Nike’s U.S. catalog listed Vomero 18 at $165 at the October 4, 2026 access snapshot. The category label does not establish that it will feel comfortable to every runner; fit and personal preference still matter. Nike’s lineup announcement
Structure: supportive cushioning
Nike positions Structure as a stable, guided ride through supportive cushioning. The men’s Structure 26 product listing offered regular and wide fit options and showed a price of $145 when accessed on October 4, 2026. This confirms width availability for that listing only; it does not establish that every Nike shoe comes in wide or that Structure 26 fits true to size. Nike’s Structure 26 listing

Trail and racing needs call for a different shortlist
For trail shoes, Nike Philippines points to Zegama for more rugged terrain and Pegasus Trail for less rugged terrain. Those are Nike’s examples in a localized guide, not universal terrain rules. Choose according to the actual surface and conditions you run on, and check that the model is intended for that use. Nike Philippines’ running-shoe guide
Check the fit before deciding
Nike’s Philippines guide suggests checking for about a thumb’s width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe, sizing up if your toes feel cramped, and trying shoes on to assess comfort. Use the toe-room suggestion as a practical check, not a universal sizing formula: foot shape and preferred fit vary. Nike Philippines’ fit guidance

- Try the shoe on if possible and check that your toes are not cramped.
- Look up width options for the exact model and version; do not assume another shoe in the same franchise has the same range.
- Use comfort and intended use to make the final choice rather than relying on a general label such as “supportive.”
Nike’s U.S. selection guide attributes shoe-choice advice to Ian Klein, an Ohio University exercise physiologist who specializes in cross-training and injury prevention. That guidance supports considering an individual’s anatomy and support needs; it is not a diagnosis or a basis for claiming that a particular shoe prevents injury. The available brand guidance is not an independent clinical test or model comparison. Nike’s U.S. shoe-selection guide

A practical way to make the choice
- Choose the use: decide whether you need a road, trail, or racing shoe.
- Shortlist by ride: for Nike road running, compare Pegasus for responsive cushioning, Vomero for maximum cushioning, and Structure for supportive cushioning.
- Check fit: try the exact shoe if possible, assess toe room and comfort, and confirm its width options.
- Compare the actual price: check the exact model and listing in your country, since the U.S. snapshot prices above can change and do not establish prices elsewhere.
- Make the final call by comfort and use: Nike’s category labels can narrow the field, but they do not replace trying the shoe or independently establish which model is best for an individual runner.
