A domain’s first-year price can be far lower than what you pay to keep it. On Hostinger’s US storefront, .com is advertised at $0.01 for the first year when you choose a three-year term, while its displayed standard price is $19.99 per year. Treat the promotion as a conditional introductory offer—not the ongoing annual cost—and check the renewal price and checkout total for your chosen extension before buying.

Hostinger domain prices: first year versus renewal

These are the prices displayed on Hostinger’s US domain page as of October 4, 2026. The first-year offers and displayed standard prices differ by extension; the .com offer has a three-year term condition. The standard price is the relevant figure for estimating the ongoing cost, but confirm the exact renewal amount and terms for your domain at checkout.

Extension First-year price shown Displayed standard price
.com $0.01 with a three-year term $19.99 per year
.tech $6.99 $63.99
.ai $89.99 $109.99
.shop $0.99 $39.99
.org $8.99 $17.99

Source for all prices in the table: Hostinger’s US domain page, accessed October 4, 2026. Prices are regional and can change; the page lists more than 500 extensions, so these examples do not establish the cost of every TLD. Hostinger’s 2026 cost guide gives a broad estimate of around $10–20 per year for a domain, but that is a general guide, not a guaranteed price or a universal market rate: Hostinger’s domain-cost guide.

What determines the amount you pay?

Extension and name

Different extensions have different prices, as the table shows. A premium name may also cost more than a standard registration; the displayed price for an extension is not necessarily the price of a sought-after domain being resold.

Promotion and registration term

An introductory price can come with a required term. For Hostinger’s US .com offer, the $0.01 first-year price is tied to choosing a three-year term. Don’t compare that banner price with another registrar’s one-year price without checking the required commitment and the total due at checkout.

Renewal and extras

Renewal is the recurring expense to budget for. Hostinger says renewal fees are shown upfront, but the final checkout total can depend on the selected extension and region. Its UK pricing guidance says registration, renewal, and ICANN fees are shown upfront; it does not establish one universal fee or total across all extensions and locations. See Hostinger’s UK domain pricing page for that regional disclosure.

WHOIS privacy can affect the value of an offer. Hostinger says it is free for supported extensions, but support and rules vary by extension, including some country-code domains. Check whether privacy is available for the exact TLD rather than assuming it is included for all domains. Hostinger explains the qualification in its WHOIS privacy guide.

How to compare registrars fairly

Compare like with like: the same extension, registration term, region, and privacy coverage. Record the first-year amount and renewal amount separately, then include any required bundle or longer commitment. A low introductory price by itself does not show which provider costs less over time.

Hostinger’s September 2026 comparison lists these .com first-year and renewal prices. They are the figures in Hostinger’s own comparison, not independently rechecked live offers; verify the regional rate, term conditions, and checkout total before purchase.

When a hosting bundle changes the calculation

Hostinger says eligible annual hosting plans include a domain free for the first year. That is a bundle benefit, not free hosting. Compare the full hosting plan price and its renewal terms with the cost of registering a domain separately before deciding. Details are on Hostinger’s hosting plans page.

Budget for a domain before you register

  1. Choose the extension and check the price for that exact domain.
  2. Write down the first-year price, renewal price, and any minimum registration term.
  3. Check whether WHOIS privacy is included for that extension.
  4. Review the full checkout total and compare it with other providers using the same extension and term.
  5. If a hosting plan includes a domain, compare the complete plan cost and later renewal terms against standalone registration.

If you plan to transfer a domain later, note that Hostinger’s UK guidance says transfers are subject to the standard 60-day ICANN lock period. That transfer restriction is separate from the cost of a new registration: Hostinger’s UK domain pricing page.
