To avoid paying for a streaming service you meant to leave, first find out which company bills you, then cancel through that company, confirm the effective date, and keep the confirmation. A new subscription or bundle does not cancel an existing one. Max publishes a cancellation process and warns that some billing providers require at least 24 hours’ notice before renewal; the reviewed Paramount+ support pages do not establish its cancellation steps or cutoff, so do not assume Max’s rules apply to Paramount+.
Start by identifying who bills the subscription
The cancellation route depends on the biller, not just the streaming app you use. For Max, open max.com/subscription or the Subscription screen in the app; the billing provider appears at the top. You can also check your card or bank statement, or ask your internet, mobile, or TV provider if the subscription came with its service.
Before switching services, check the old account and any app-store, device-platform, or carrier subscriptions. Treat cancellation and signing up for the replacement as separate transactions: starting a new plan does not show that the old one ended.
How to cancel Max
- Find the biller. Sign in at max.com/subscription, or open Max and go to the profile’s Subscription screen. The provider is shown at the top; on some TVs, Subscription is under Settings.
- Use that biller’s cancellation controls. If the account identifies Max/WarnerMedia as the biller and shows a cancellation option, choose “Cancel Your Subscription” and confirm. If another company bills you, cancel through that company’s subscription settings or support.
- Record the result. Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot, and note the expiration date shown. Max says access continues until the subscription expires at the end of the billing period.
- Allow for the provider’s cutoff. Max warns that some providers may require cancellation at least 24 hours before the next billing period. That is a provider-specific warning, not a universal deadline; check your provider’s rule and act before renewal.
- Verify the account status. Check that the subscription no longer appears active and retain the stated expiration date alongside your confirmation.
Third-party Max billing
Max identifies Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung TV, Amazon Appstore, Prime Video Channels, and internet, mobile, or TV providers as possible billers. Manage the subscription with the company shown on your account rather than relying on a Max cancellation button that may not be available for third-party billing. Options vary by country: Max lists Amazon Appstore billing for Brazil and Mexico, and Prime Video Channels for Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.

If a Max charge appears after cancellation
Max’s unexpected-charge guidance lists several possible explanations: cancellation occurred too close to renewal, the subscription is still active, there are multiple accounts or subscriptions, or an annual plan remains in its paid term. Its guidance says annual subscriptions billed directly through WarnerMedia continue to be charged monthly until the annual subscription expires, with no partial-year refund or credit. This detail is specific to that billing context; check the plan and biller on your own account. For help identifying a charge, use Max’s unexpected-charge support page.

The official Paramount+ support pages reviewed here do not establish the current cancellation sequence, provider-specific cancellation route, or deadline for avoiding a renewal charge. The available support results explain how to change a plan through paramountplus.com and note that plan changes cannot be made directly on an LG TV; they do not explain how to cancel. For your account, sign in at Paramount+ account sign-in and identify who bills the subscription. Use the cancellation controls of that company, then ask it to confirm the cancellation and effective date. If you pay through an internet, mobile, or TV provider, Paramount+ provides a connection path for provider subscribers on its sign-in page. Do not apply Max’s 24-hour warning or provider list to Paramount+; the pages cited here do not establish those as Paramount+ rules.

Keep the switch from creating an overlap
- Before starting a replacement plan or bundle, check whether the old subscription is still active and who bills it.
- Cancel with the existing biller, then save proof of cancellation and the final access date.
- Do not treat deleting an app, changing a plan, or signing up elsewhere as confirmation that an existing subscription ended.
- Review the next statement and contact the biller if a charge appears after the confirmed end date.
