PEOPLE and Great Place To Work ranked The Wonderful Company No. 1 on the 2025 list of 100 Companies That Care, followed by Hilton and Delta Air Lines. The ninth annual list recognizes U.S. employers using employee survey responses, company-submitted information and essays—not a guarantee that every employee has a positive experience or that conditions will remain the same.
What the 2025 Companies That Care list recognizes
PEOPLE and Great Place To Work announced the ninth annual list on August 20, 2025. It recognizes U.S. employers for employee experience and care for their local communities; the stated scope also includes the environment. The announcement said the list appeared online and in the September 1, 2025 issue of PEOPLE, which was scheduled to reach newsstands on August 22, 2025. That historical release information does not establish current availability of the print issue.
The ranking is a recognition program, not a universal certification that every employee is treated well. Its results reflect the methodology and information used for this edition; they do not guarantee future workplace conditions or establish performance beyond the criteria assessed.

How did PEOPLE choose the Companies That Care?
Employee survey responses
Great Place To Work says it used its proprietary For All methodology and more than 1.3 million employee survey responses for the 2025 list. The methodology page specifies that more than one million responses came from employees at organizations eligible for the list. The survey asked employees to rate 60 statements on a five-point scale and answer two open-ended questions.
Company information and essays
Companies supplied organizational information, answered questions about benefits and charitable giving, and submitted an essay describing recent efforts to care for people, the environment or their community. The ranking combined survey analysis, company-provided data and essay evaluation.
Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
Eligibility and review
To be eligible, an employer needed Great Place To Work certification and at least 10 U.S. employees. Great Place To Work says it assessed differences among demographic groups and job roles, reviewed survey anomalies and reports of noncompliance, and normalized data to compare companies across sizes and industries. See the official 2025 list and methodology.
What do the reported numbers mean?
| Figure | What it describes |
|---|---|
| More than 1.3 million | Employee survey responses used for the 2025 list, according to Great Place To Work. |
| More than 8.4 million | Employees represented in company data, according to Great Place To Work. |
| 60 statements and two open-ended questions | The survey format described by Great Place To Work; the statements were rated on a five-point scale. |
The response count and the number of employees represented in company data are different measures. Neither is the list’s score or a percentage of employees who said their employer cares. The official pages describe the process and top 10 but do not provide a complete company-by-company numerical score or weights.

How to use the ranking when evaluating an employer
A high position can be a useful starting point for further research, but it cannot tell you whether a specific job will suit your needs. Before accepting an offer or changing jobs, assess the role and location directly:
Quick Recap
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
Rank #4
- Ask about the team, manager, schedule and expectations for the specific position.
- Compare pay and benefits in the written offer, including eligibility rules and costs that matter to your household budget.
- Look for current information about the office or worksite, rather than assuming every location has the same conditions.
- Consider employee feedback alongside your own priorities; the ranking does not replace role-specific questions.
