Wrexham Squad Player Wages and Wage Bill: What the Accounts Reveal

Wrexham’s latest accounts disclose company-wide staff costs, not individual player salaries. See what the 2024–25 figures show—and what they cannot establish.

Wrexham’s latest filed accounts disclose £17,587,741 in company-wide wages and salaries for the year ended 30 June 2025, not a first-team-only wage bill. They do not reveal individual player salaries, so a reliable ranking of Wrexham players by pay cannot be made from the public primary records cited here. The figures below rank the disclosed club-company totals instead.

Wrexham’s disclosed wage figures, ranked by accounting measure

Wrexham AFC Limited’s latest accounts cover the year ended 30 June 2025 and were filed on 27 March 2026. They report separate figures for wages and salaries and total staff costs. Both relate to the company’s employees, not solely the men’s first team.

Rank Measure Year ended 30 June 2025 Comparable prior-year figure
1 Total staff costs £19,948,133 £11,043,609 in 2023–24
2 Wages and salaries £17,587,741 £9,858,062 in 2023–24

These are two related but different accounting measures, not separate estimates of the same first-team payroll. Total staff costs comprise wages and salaries (£17,587,741), social security costs (£2,259,198) and pension costs (£101,194). The accounts report 313 employees at the reporting date, compared with 255 a year earlier, and include staff beyond the playing squad. Companies House filing history records the filing date and period; the company accounts provide the underlying figures.

BBC Sport described wages as rising 73.6% to £19.95m, using the rounded total staff-cost figure. That rounded description should not be confused with the accounts’ exact “Wages and salaries” line of £17,587,741. BBC Sport’s report discusses the filed accounts.

How much do Wrexham players earn?

The public accounts do not disclose the salary of any named player or isolate first-team payroll. Consequently, they cannot establish an exact average player salary, individual weekly wages, or a definitive highest-paid player. The EFL’s 2025/26 squad list confirms registered-player names and distinguishes squad players from under-21 contract players, but contains no pay information.

Salary websites may publish named estimates, but estimates are not verified club disclosures. Capology explicitly labels its Wrexham figures as estimates and says they are not official. Any such figures should be attributed to that publisher and treated as estimates, not confirmed wages or a dependable ranking. Capology’s 2026/27 Wrexham salary page carries that qualification.

Why player-registration spending is not the wage bill

The 2025 accounts also report £8,517,773 of player registrations capitalised during the financial year and a carrying amount of £7,264,539 at 30 June 2025. These are accounting asset values, not player salaries or payroll, and they do not necessarily equal cash transfer spending in that year. They should not be added to the wages-and-salaries figure. Wrexham AFC Limited’s accounts report these figures separately.

What the figures can—and cannot—tell you

  • Useful comparison: the same company’s wages-and-salaries line rose from £9,858,062 in 2023–24 to £17,587,741 in 2024–25.
  • Different scope: total staff costs were £19,948,133 in 2024–25, including wages and salaries, social security and pension costs.
  • Not established: the accounts do not show how much went to a particular player, the men’s first team alone, or the highest-paid player.
  • Not comparable without consistent definitions: these annual company figures should not be set against an estimated individual weekly salary or another club’s differently defined total.

BBC Sport reported a forecast turnover of £46m–£50m for the year ending June 2026. This is a forecast, not a filed result or a disclosure of wages. BBC Sport reported the estimate alongside its account of the 2025 filing.
