The FTC says another round of automatic payments began October 1, 2026, for additional eligible U.S. consumers, including some who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits in a qualifying 12-month period. If you qualify for an automatic payment, you do not need to file a new claim or complete a form; the FTC says eligible refunds will be sent by April 2027. The settlement’s $1.5 billion figure is the consumer-redress fund within a $2.5 billion settlement—not a promise that each person will receive money or that the entire fund is being paid in this round.
Who may qualify for an Amazon Prime settlement payment?
The FTC’s current refund page says a consumer must meet all three conditions below. Eligibility is limited to U.S. Prime customers who fall within the enrollment or cancellation criteria and benefit-use limit; simply having or having had Prime is not enough.
- You were an Amazon Prime customer in the United States.
- Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you signed up through a challenged enrollment flow or tried to cancel through the online cancellation flow but could not complete it.
- You used no more than 20 Amazon Prime benefits in any 12-month period following enrollment. The FTC includes Prime Music and Prime Video benefits offered free to members among its examples.
The FTC identifies the challenged enrollment flows as the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. A current Prime membership is not listed as a requirement. Amazon’s records and the settlement administrator determine individual eligibility; contact the administrator if your circumstances are unclear.
Do you need to file a claim?
No new claim or form is required for consumers receiving the current automatic payments. The revised process also directs continued payments to people who qualified through the earlier claims process and had not already been paid. Articles describing only the earlier claim process may not reflect the revised rules announced in 2026.

Automatic payments are not the same as universal payments: the eligibility conditions still apply, and people already issued a payment are excluded from the additional October 2026 phase for consumers who used 11 to 20 benefits.
When will the payments arrive, and what are the phases?
| Timing | What the FTC or settlement order says |
|---|---|
| November 2025 onward | Amazon began sending settlement payments. The FTC reported more than $845 million in redress issued by September 2026; “issued” does not mean every payment was accepted, deposited, or retained. FTC, September 2026 |
| October 1, 2026 onward | Another automatic-payment round began for additional eligible consumers, including those who used 11–20 Prime benefits in a qualifying 12-month period and had not already received a payment. The order also directs continued payments to earlier claims-process eligible consumers who had not been paid. FTC, September 2026 and settlement order |
| By April 2027 | The FTC says eligible refunds will be sent by this date. FTC refund page |
| Potential further round by the end of April 2027 | If accepted consumer payments have not reached the required threshold at reconciliation, the order allows a further pro rata payment round for consumers who previously accepted a settlement payment. This is conditional, not guaranteed. Settlement order |
How much could you receive?
The revised process allows up to $200 total per eligible consumer, but that is a ceiling, not a promised payment. The earlier phase had a cap of $51; additional payments may be made under the revised order, including possible amounts up to $149, subject to the $200 total cap and the order’s conditions. The amount an individual receives depends on the applicable phase and settlement administration.

The settlement announced in September 2025 totaled $2.5 billion: up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress and a separate $1 billion civil penalty. The FTC estimated that 35 million consumers were impacted; that estimate is not a count of people guaranteed to receive a refund. FTC settlement announcement, September 25, 2025
How payments are delivered—and when they expire
Payments may arrive as a mailed check or electronically through PayPal or Venmo. The FTC says a payment expires 60 days after its issue date. Follow the payment instructions promptly; if a payment is missing or you cannot redeem it, contact the settlement administrator using the details on the FTC’s official refund page.

How to check a notice and avoid settlement scams
- The FTC says it is not contacting consumers about refunds in this Amazon matter. Verify details by navigating to the FTC refund page or the official settlement site yourself rather than relying on links in unsolicited messages.
- No one from Amazon should ask you to pay money to release a refund. Be wary of anyone promising special access or a guaranteed payment in exchange for a fee.
- For case-specific questions, the FTC refund page lists the administrator at [email protected] and 1-888-999-8094, and points to SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com.
The FTC’s consumer advice article explains that Amazon administers the refund process, rather than the FTC, and directs consumers to the administrator for questions about notices, claims, eligibility, and checks. FTC Consumer Advice, January 2026

The FTC alleged that Amazon enrolled millions of consumers in Prime without consent and made cancellation difficult. Those are allegations described in the settlement announcement, not findings reached after a trial; the announcement does not characterize the settlement as an admission of liability.

The settlement also required changes to Prime enrollment and cancellation, including a clear option to decline Prime, clear disclosures about cost, charge timing and frequency, auto-renewal and cancellation, and an easy cancellation route using the same method a customer used to sign up.
