The Walmart OnePay Card is actually a pair of cards issued by Synchrony Bank: the CashRewards Card, which works anywhere Mastercard is accepted, and the Walmart Spend Card, which can be used only at Walmart. Synchrony decides which card an applicant may receive; applicants cannot select one. The key differences are acceptance, rewards and the cost of carrying a balance.
What are the Walmart OnePay cards?
OnePay describes this as a new card program offered with Synchrony Bank, not a continuation of an earlier Walmart credit card. OnePay offers two options: CashRewards and Walmart Spend. You apply to the program, and Synchrony reviews the application and determines whether to approve you for CashRewards, Walmart Spend or neither. OnePay’s card overview

How do OnePay rewards work?
CashRewards at Walmart
CashRewards earns 3% on eligible U.S. Walmart and Walmart.com purchases, or 5% if you have Walmart+ linked as required by the program terms. The higher rate depends on that linkage; having a Walmart+ membership alone may not be enough if it is not linked to the card account.

CashRewards on other purchases
Outside Walmart, the standard stated rate is 1.5% on eligible CashRewards purchases. OnePay’s product page also described a limited-time offer of 3% on eligible non-Walmart purchases for 90 days for qualifying approvals from September 2 through December 31, 2026. That promotion has specific eligibility and timing; confirm that it is still available and review its terms before counting on it. OnePay CashRewards product page
Walmart Spend and redeeming rewards
Walmart Spend has no standard rewards program, although OnePay says limited-time points offers may be available. CashRewards earnings are issued as OnePay Points. What fees and interest should you consider?
OnePay says both cards have no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. Those facts do not make borrowing cost-free: interest can accrue if you carry a balance, and late fees may apply. OnePay says the purchase APR is based on a fixed amount plus the Prime Rate and is determined during the application. It describes an interest-free grace period when the full balance is paid by the due date; consult the current agreement for the exact conditions and late-fee amount.
As listed by OnePay for new accounts as of May 1, 2026, CashRewards had variable purchase APRs of 20.24% or 30.74%, while Walmart Spend had a 30.74% variable purchase APR. The issuer’s current rates-and-fees disclosure controls; the rate offered to an applicant may differ.

Applications are available through Walmart.com, the Walmart app and select Walmart stores. OnePay says prequalification uses a soft credit check that does not affect a credit score. Submitting a full application triggers a hard inquiry that may affect the score. Applicants provide identity and contact details, a Social Security number or ITIN, and income information. OnePay’s product page described a $75 welcome bonus for applications approved from September 2 through September 30, 2026. That application window had ended by October 4, 2026. Separately, the page described the 90-day 3% non-Walmart CashRewards offer for qualifying approvals through December 31, 2026. Because promotional eligibility and availability may change, check the live offer terms rather than assuming either offer applies to a new application.

Which OnePay card makes sense?
- Consider CashRewards if you want a card usable outside Walmart and expect to earn rewards on eligible purchases there. Its Walmart rate is higher with linked Walmart+.
- Walmart Spend is narrower: it works only at Walmart and has no standard rewards program. It may be offered through the application decision, but applicants cannot choose it in advance.
- If you may carry a balance, weigh the current APR and late-fee terms rather than focusing only on the lack of an annual fee.
- If you are deciding whether to apply, distinguish a soft-check prequalification from the hard inquiry associated with submitting the application.
