As of October 3, 2026, Chase advertises up to $35 per month for DoorDash with the Sapphire Reserve, but Chase’s detailed terms and DoorDash’s benefit summary do not clearly agree on how that amount is made up. The Reserve may offer the largest DoorDash-specific headline amount in this comparison, but the usable value depends on your activation date, eligible orders and account’s current offer. The Sapphire Preferred’s published offer focuses on non-restaurant DoorDash orders; the Amex Platinum’s Uber Cash works across qualifying Uber rides and orders instead.
What the Sapphire Reserve DoorDash benefit includes
Chase’s public comparison page describes the Sapphire Reserve benefit as 12 months of complimentary DashPass plus up to $35 each month to spend on DoorDash through December 31, 2029. That is a marketing summary, not a guarantee that every cardholder can redeem $35 in cash-equivalent value each month. Chase’s detailed cardmember terms and DoorDash’s partnership help page describe different layers of discounts and credits, and their descriptions do not cleanly reconcile with the headline maximum. Check the current offer shown in your DoorDash account and the Chase DoorDash cardmember terms before placing an order.
The detailed terms also vary by when DashPass is first activated. For qualifying non-restaurant orders, the Chase terms accessed October 3, 2026 describe one $10 monthly discount for first activations from September 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. For first activations from February 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026, they describe one $10 discount per calendar quarter. These timing-specific terms are not a complete reconciliation of the public page’s “up to $35” figure, so do not add separate advertised amounts together unless your account’s offer confirms you qualify for each one.
Chase’s Reserve product page separately describes $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible DoorDash orders when activated by December 31, 2027, while its comparison page gives the broader benefit a December 31, 2029 end date. The different dates are another reason to follow the terms attached to your own offer rather than assume one date applies to every component.

How to activate and use the Reserve benefit
- Add the eligible card: In DoorDash or Caviar, add your Sapphire Reserve and set it as the default payment method. Chase’s terms require the eligible card to be attached before activation.
- Activate the offer: Follow the DashPass or card benefit activation prompt in your account. Note the activation date, because the non-restaurant discount schedule depends on when you first activate.
- Check the specific order: Confirm the merchant and category qualify, and review any minimum, delivery fee, service fee and other charges shown at checkout. A $0 delivery fee does not make the full order free.
- Pay with the eligible card: Use the linked eligible card as the payment method for the qualifying order, and check the applied promotion before submitting it.
- Review membership renewal: Chase says the complimentary DashPass period may convert to a paid membership at the then-current monthly rate unless canceled. Cancel before the promotional period ends if you do not want paid renewal.
DoorDash or Caviar availability, merchants, and delivery-driver availability can vary by location. The Chase terms also make order eligibility and offer conditions relevant, so check the live account details rather than relying only on a general product-page description.
How the Reserve compares with the Preferred and Amex Platinum
| Card | Published delivery-app benefit | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Reserve | Chase advertises 12 months of DashPass and up to $35 monthly for DoorDash through December 31, 2029. Detailed summaries conflict on the credit composition and timing. | Potentially the highest DoorDash-specific headline value here, but verify the account’s eligible categories, activation schedule and current terms. |
| Chase Sapphire Preferred | Chase advertises 12 months of DashPass and a $10 monthly promotion for groceries, retail and other non-restaurant DoorDash orders. | More limited published monthly amount than the Reserve headline, but the stated promotion is specifically relevant to non-restaurant orders. Check the current offer terms. |
| American Express Platinum | Amex advertises $15 in Uber Cash each month plus $20 in December for qualifying U.S. rides and orders, when the eligible card is selected. | Useful for people who use Uber or Uber Eats; Uber Cash can go toward qualifying rides as well as orders and is not DoorDash credit. |
Sources for the published descriptions: Chase’s Sapphire Preferred and Reserve comparison, Chase’s DoorDash terms, and Amex’s U.S. Platinum page. The figures describe different platforms and eligible uses; they are not directly interchangeable or equivalent to cash. Amex also lists an Uber One membership credit separately from Uber Cash. Its enrollment and current terms should be checked independently rather than folded into the Uber Cash amount.

Which benefit is more useful for you?
- Choose the Reserve’s DoorDash offer as the more relevant perk if you already order eligible DoorDash items regularly and the offer visible in your account matches your usual purchases. The public “up to” amount is a ceiling, not a monthly payout.
- The Preferred’s published offer may fit better if your DoorDash use is mainly groceries, retail or other non-restaurant orders and a $10 monthly promotion is useful to you.
- Amex Platinum’s Uber Cash may be more flexible if you use Uber rides as well as Uber Eats, since its advertised monthly balance covers qualifying U.S. rides and orders rather than only one delivery platform.
- Discount value is limited by what you would otherwise buy. A credit that expires unused, applies only to an order you would not have made, or is outweighed by fees and minimums does not function like cash savings.
Why older articles may quote a $5 Reserve credit
Some older coverage refers to a $5 Reserve in-app DoorDash credit. Chase’s partnership announcement said that earlier credit continued through January 31, 2025, alongside an expansion into recurring grocery, convenience and other non-restaurant store benefits. That historical amount is not a reliable description of the Reserve offer available in October 2026. See Chase’s partnership announcement for the earlier program context.
