To book an Air France or KLM award flight, sign in to Flying Blue, search the itinerary as a reward ticket on Air France or KLM’s website or app, compare the available mileage prices and fare conditions, then pay the quoted taxes and carrier surcharges in cash. Prices and award-seat availability vary by route and date, so the live search result—not a starting price—is what matters for your trip.
How to book a Flying Blue reward ticket
- Sign in to your Flying Blue account. Reward tickets are available to members, who may book for themselves or another traveler. See Flying Blue’s reward-ticket information.
- Search on an official booking channel. Use Air France’s website or its app and choose “Book with Miles” or “Use your Miles.” On KLM’s website or app, sign in and continue through the booking flow.
- Enter your route and travel dates, then review the results. Compare the miles required, cash due, fare family, and available flights. A published starting price does not guarantee that a seat is available on your chosen flight at that price.
- Check baggage and flexibility before choosing. The lowest mileage option may have different baggage, change, and refund conditions from higher fare options.
- Pay the cash charges at checkout. Taxes and carrier surcharges are separate from miles. The booking flow shows the amount for your itinerary.
Flying Blue directs members to Air France or KLM’s online reward-booking tools for partner-airline reward tickets as well. Promo Reward tickets must be booked online. Transavia has a separate booking flow on its site: select the option to show prices in Flying Blue Miles. See Flying Blue’s reward-ticket help page.
How many Flying Blue miles does an award flight cost?
There is no single fixed mileage price for every Air France or KLM award flight in the published information. The required miles vary by destination and travel date. Search the specific route and dates you want to see the live price and availability; treat any “from” price as a starting point, not a quote for a particular itinerary.
When comparing results, look at the total cost in both currencies: miles required and cash due. Taxes and carrier surcharges cannot be paid with miles, and the cash amount depends on the itinerary. Use the checkout amount rather than assuming a standard surcharge applies to every route.

Can Promo Rewards lower the mileage price?
Flying Blue says Promo Rewards offer up to 25% off the ordinary mileage price, with new offers released on the first day of each month. Routes, travel dates, and seats are subject to availability, and the lowest price shown on a promotion page may not be available for every itinerary. Check the current offers and then search your exact dates before building a trip around a promotion. Long-haul promotional routes described by Flying Blue are to or from Europe. Details are on the reward-ticket page.
Compare Light, Standard, and Flex before booking
For reward tickets on flights marketed and operated by Air France or KLM, the fare structure changed on 8 September 2026. The fare family affects what the ticket includes as well as the miles required.

| Fare | Miles and conditions |
|---|---|
| Light | Displayed starting mileage prices are for Light. Checked baggage is not included in Economy and Premium. The fare is generally not changeable or refundable. |
| Standard | Requires more miles than Light. Check the itinerary’s displayed inclusions and conditions before booking. |
| Flex | Requires more miles than Light. Check the itinerary’s displayed inclusions and conditions before booking. |
Platinum and Ultimate members can change or refund Light tickets free of charge. Tickets issued before 8 September 2026 retain the conditions that applied when booked. The official fare information does not provide a complete comparison of every inclusion for Standard and Flex, so verify the terms shown for your flight. See Flying Blue’s current reward-ticket and fare information.
To compare fairly, weigh the extra miles for Standard or Flex against the value of included baggage or greater flexibility. For Light, check the cost of adding a checked bag in cash as well as the fare’s change and refund restrictions.

Can you use Cash & Miles?
At checkout on Air France and KLM websites and apps, Cash & Miles lets you pay part of a reward-ticket booking in cash. For a reward ticket, the cash portion can cover up to 25% of the payment. Flying Blue also says the option can be used for bookings on partner airlines. Compare the split offered at checkout with the all-miles option; the published information does not establish that one choice is always better. See Flying Blue’s Cash & Miles information.
