The available walkthrough describes a basic workflow for signing in, choosing a work area, registering or locating a patient, and viewing records. It is undated and does not identify a software version, so use it as general orientation, not as current instructions or a substitute for your employer’s procedures.
What IDX means in this guide
The title-specific Techwalla guide describes IDX as medical-management software for tasks such as scheduling, billing, and patient records. Other products also use the IDX abbreviation; those are outside the scope of this guide. The Techwalla walkthrough is undated and does not identify a version or establish whether its menu labels and commands match any particular installation. Read the Techwalla guide.
Choose the work area for your task
The walkthrough associates three areas with different kinds of work. Your installed system and authorized role may expose different labels or functions, so confirm the correct area in your employer’s current documentation.
| Area named in the guide | Work described |
|---|---|
| BAR | Billing accounts and receivables |
| SCHED | Physician schedules and appointment tracking |
| VM/HPA | Visit records and accounting activities |
Basic workflow described by the guide
Sign in with your employer-provided credentials
The guide starts with the IDX desktop login and says to authenticate using the username and password provided by the employer. Follow your organization’s current sign-in and account-security procedures; do not use credentials that have not been issued or authorized for you.

Open the appropriate work area
Select the area that matches your task—for example, BAR for billing work or SCHED for appointment-related work—subject to your assigned permissions and local instructions. Do not assume that a label or function is present in every installation.
Register a new patient only through the approved workflow
The guide describes using a registration function and says registration assigns a unique Medical Record Number (MRN). It does not verify the current screen sequence or required fields for any version. Check the information and steps against your employer’s current registration procedure before creating a record.

Find an existing patient using approved identity checks
The walkthrough describes a patient inquiry function for locating a previously registered patient. It mentions searching with personal identifying information, but that example is not a current identity-verification policy. Use only the search methods and verification steps approved by your organization, and access records only when authorized for your role and task.
View information available to your role
The guide says inquiry functions may be used to view information such as appointments, invoices, referrals, demographics, insurance, or case management. What you can see or do depends on the installed system and your authorized role. Use local instructions for the correct inquiry function and handle patient information according to your organization’s privacy procedures.

What this walkthrough cannot establish
- Which IDX version, menus, or commands are in use at your workplace.
- Whether the system is currently deployed, or who owns or supports a particular installation.
- Your organization’s registration, identity-verification, access, or privacy requirements.
- Whether you have permission to perform a particular action or view a particular record.
For operational instructions, ask your supervisor or system administrator for the documentation that matches your installation and role. The undated walkthrough can explain the broad purpose of BAR, SCHED, and VM/HPA, but it cannot confirm current local procedures.
