For a classic premium table, GQ named Fortnum & Mason’s Piccadilly Circus crackers its best overall pick in 2024; for branded designer gifts, it listed Harrods’ six-piece Luxury set at £700. These are historical selections and prices, not current recommendations or quotes. The right choice depends on whether you want individual useful gifts, a shared chocolate centerpiece, cocktails, or a child-friendly design.
How these 2024 picks were selected
This is a guide to products and editorial coverage from 2024, not a current 2026 ranking. It combines GQ and Evening Standard editorial selections with Which?’s reported test of 11 luxury sets. The available coverage does not establish firsthand testing for every pick or a market-wide comparison. Treat every stated price as historical, and check a live listing for current stock, pack size, price and contents before buying.

What to consider before choosing
Look beyond the wrapper
Compare what guests will actually receive: a useful object, something edible, a decoration or a novelty. Harrods’ historic set centered on branded gifts, whereas Hotel Chocolat’s oversized cracker made the food itself the main event. In Which?’s test, gifts differed substantially between sets. Its account also noted that one product’s box art did not match every gift in its sample, so read the live product description rather than assuming the packaging depicts every inclusion.
Work out the cost per guest
Divide the current pack price by the number of crackers to estimate the price per place setting. That calculation is not useful for a single oversized cracker intended to be shared: consider its contents and serving role instead. The 2024 sources do not give pack sizes for every option, so do not infer a per-person figure from the historical prices in the table.

Match the product to the guests and table
- Choose a traditional gift-led set when each guest should open an individual cracker.
- Consider the Hotel Chocolat cracker when you want one large centerpiece rather than a cracker at every place.
- For MOTH, check the current cocktail selection and whether it suits everyone at the table.
- For children, verify current contents and age guidance rather than relying on a past description.
Check whether gifts can vary
Contents may change between seasons or differ from imagery. Which?’s sample findings describe what it received, not a guarantee about another box or a current production run. Check product terms for any statement that gifts vary, and confirm the contents with the seller if a particular gift matters to your choice.
What the Which? test can—and cannot—tell you
Which? reported testing 11 luxury Christmas cracker sets priced from £12.50 to £50 in the test covered by its page; the page does not state the test year in the accessible account. It named Nancy & Betty’s Fable Forest an Editor’s Choice and described useful gifts in its sample. Separately, it reported that one Tom Smith set arrived empty in its purchase. That is a finding about that test sample, not evidence that Tom Smith products generally arrive empty. Neither the test’s price range nor its sample results should be read as a 2026 market survey.

Can Christmas crackers be more sustainable?
Waste-reduction options mentioned in 2024 coverage include reusable fill-your-own crackers and designs that use recyclable card or avoid plastic. Those features alone do not establish that a product is environmentally superior across its full lifecycle.
Which? reported Nancy & Betty’s claim that its crackers are recyclable except for the ribbon and that the company plants a tree per box. These are maker claims as reported by Which?, not an independent lifecycle assessment. Check the current packaging and local recycling rules, and consider whether a reusable shell can be kept for another year.
