Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched on October 16, 2025, so this is now a post-launch buying guide—not an open preorder offer. Nintendo’s regular US prices are $59.99 for the Nintendo Switch version and $69.99 for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The launch-period Ralts and Poké Ball offers have expired; check a retailer’s current listing for today’s price, stock and any remaining extras.
Which editions can you buy, and what do they cost?
Nintendo’s official US listings give these regular prices. They are not a guarantee of the price or availability at a particular retailer today.
| Option | Official US regular price | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch | $59.99 | The base game for original Nintendo Switch hardware. It can also be played on Switch 2; owners who want the enhanced Switch 2 version can purchase the Upgrade Pack. |
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | $69.99 | The game edition Nintendo describes as having improved performance, enhanced resolution and smoother frame rates. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack | US price not stated in the cited official US sources | A digital upgrade for owners of the Switch edition; the base game is required. Japan’s official page lists ¥1,000, but that is a Japan-specific price and should not be applied to the US market. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 + game bundle | $499.99 at announcement | Nintendo announced a bundle with a Switch 2 system and a full digital copy of the Switch 2 Edition. The announcement does not establish current retailer availability. |

Which version makes sense for your hardware?
If you have the original Nintendo Switch
Choose the $59.99 Switch edition. It is the version intended for that hardware. The Switch 2 Edition is a separate edition, not a requirement for playing the game on an original Switch.
#1 Best Overall
If you have a Nintendo Switch 2
Compare the $69.99 Switch 2 Edition with the $59.99 Switch version plus the Upgrade Pack. Nintendo identifies improved performance, enhanced resolution and smoother frame rates as the Switch 2 Edition’s distinctions. The regular US price for the Upgrade Pack is not established here, so check Nintendo’s live digital listing and compare the combined total before buying.
If you already own the Switch version
You do not need to buy the game again to access the enhanced edition: Nintendo offers an Upgrade Pack for existing owners, and the base game is required. The Japanese product page says its local base-game price plus the ¥1,000 pack price equals the Switch 2 Edition price; that pricing relationship is specific to Japan and does not establish a US total.

Are any preorder bonuses still available?
The game is post-launch, and the official early-purchase offers described below have ended. The Pokémon bonus page set February 28, 2026, as the final date for the Ralts offer and for qualifying digital purchases to receive the Poké Ball code. The code itself expired March 10, 2026.
Ralts holding Gardevoirite
The historical offer applied to physical and digital editions through February 28, 2026. It required internet access, a Nintendo Account and access to Mystery Gift, which the official page says becomes available after approximately one hour of play. The offer has expired. Gardevoirite can also be obtained through regular gameplay, according to the same official page.

100 Poké Balls for digital purchases
For qualifying digital purchases made by February 28, 2026, the offer was a serial code for 100 Poké Balls. The code’s stated validity ended March 10, 2026, so a new purchase cannot qualify for that promotion.

What physical preorder extras were offered by region?
There was no single worldwide physical-bonus list in the official announcements. These examples were limited historical offers, not evidence that the items remain in stock or come with current purchases.
Japan: Pokémon Center A5 art book
Pokémon Center Japan announced an original A5 art book with qualifying early physical purchases. Its announcement listed launch prices of ¥7,128 for Switch and ¥8,128 for Switch 2 and specified preorder windows in 2025. Those prices and the art-book offer are Japan-specific historical details.

| Trainer | Umbrella, mug and cap | £13 / €16 |

No. Mega Dimension is paid downloadable content, not a third base-game edition. Nintendo support says it works with both the original Switch and Switch 2 editions. Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel was available from October 16, 2025; the additional story content, including Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, became available December 9, 2025. Nintendo’s product search listing shows a US regular bundle price of $29.99; check Nintendo’s live listing for the current price.
Quick Recap

What should you check before paying?
- Confirm the listing is for the edition that matches your hardware and preference; the Switch 2 Edition is priced separately from the original Switch version.
- If you already own the Switch game, compare the Upgrade Pack’s live US price with the Switch 2 Edition’s price. The base game is required for the upgrade.
- Treat listed US prices as Nintendo’s regular prices, not a promise of a retailer’s current price, stock or offer.
- Do not count an old preorder bonus as included unless the specific seller confirms it on the current listing. The official Ralts and Poké Ball deadlines have passed.
- Budget for Mega Dimension separately if you want the DLC; it is not part of either base-game edition.
