ClearPath Payments and the Lopez v. Apple Settlement: What Claimants Should Know

The Lopez v. Apple Siri settlement’s claim and reissuance deadlines have passed. The $20-per-device amount was a cap, not a guaranteed payment; confirm individual status with the official administrator.

ClearPath-branded payment references may be connected to the Lopez v. Apple Siri privacy settlement, but the official settlement information available does not confirm ClearPath’s role or authenticate any particular email. The claim deadline and the listed deadline to request reissuance have both passed. For your own payment status, use the official settlement site and administrator rather than relying on an email or an estimated send date.

What the Lopez v. Apple settlement covers

Lopez v. Apple Inc., Case No. 4:19-cv-04577-JSW, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The settlement resolves allegations that Apple obtained confidential or private communications, or shared them with third parties, after Siri activated unintentionally. It is a settlement of allegations, not a finding that Apple admitted wrongdoing. The court-authorized Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement site identifies a $95 million settlement fund.

The eligible class described on the official site includes qualifying current or former owners or purchasers of Siri-enabled Apple devices who lived in the United States or its territories and whose confidential communications were involved in an unintended Siri activation between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024. The listed devices are iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch, and Apple TV.

Who could claim—and whether claims are still open

The deadline to submit a claim was July 2, 2025. That deadline has passed, so the settlement is not accepting new claims under the schedule described on the official site. A person’s ownership of a listed device alone did not establish eligibility; the class criteria also included residence and a communication involved in an unintended Siri activation during the stated period.

Why $20 is not a guaranteed payment

The official FAQ describes valid claims as receiving a pro rata share of the net settlement amount, subject to a maximum of $20 per Siri device claimed. The $20 figure is a cap, not a promised payment per device. A claimant’s actual amount depends on the net amount available for distribution and the number of valid claims and devices claimed. The official FAQ does not establish a final average payment amount.

Payment and reissuance dates: what the schedule says

The official site states that initial claimant payments have expired. It listed September 3, 2026, as the deadline to request reissuance of a payment and estimated final reissued payments around September 17, 2026. Both dates have passed as of October 4, 2026. An estimated send date does not prove that an individual payment was issued, delivered, or received, and the listed schedule does not by itself confirm whether the administrator has posted a later update.

Because payment status can change, check the official settlement site for current notices and use its contact or status resources for an account-specific answer. The site’s official FAQ explains the settlement terms; neither an estimated date nor a third-party report substitutes for confirmation from the administrator.

How to assess a ClearPath payment message

The official-source information available here does not establish ClearPath’s precise role in the settlement, identify an authorized sender or payment domain, or authenticate a specific ClearPath-branded email. A message mentioning ClearPath is therefore not proof that it is genuine—or that a payment was received.
