BlackRock is an investment manager, not the corporate owner of every company whose shares appear in a BlackRock-managed fund. Those shares are generally held in funds or accounts for clients. To find out what a particular BlackRock fund held, check that fund’s holdings and the date shown; there is no single portfolio that represents all of BlackRock’s investments.
What “BlackRock owns” can mean
The phrase can refer to three different things: companies BlackRock owns as corporate subsidiaries, shares held in a particular BlackRock-managed fund or client account, or shares attributed to BlackRock in an ownership disclosure. These are not interchangeable. The fund examples below show portfolio holdings, not a list of BlackRock subsidiaries or proof that BlackRock controls those companies.
BlackRock describes itself as an investment manager and fiduciary. A fund’s securities are part of that fund’s portfolio for its investors; they are not automatically BlackRock’s own corporate investments. A holding may also be associated with BlackRock in an ownership disclosure without meaning that BlackRock directs the company.
Companies held by two BlackRock funds
These dated examples show what two specific funds reported, not what every BlackRock fund or client account held. BlackRock notes that holdings can change and are not investment recommendations.

#1 Best Overall
| Fund and snapshot date | Five largest listed holdings | Next five shown |
|---|---|---|
| Advantage Large Cap Core Fund (MLRKX), July 31, 2026 | NVIDIA, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon | Broadcom, JPMorgan Chase, Meta Platforms, Costco, Chevron |
| Technology Opportunities Fund (BGSIX), August 31, 2026 | NVIDIA, Microsoft, Broadcom, Apple, Samsung Electronics | Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Advanced Micro Devices, Lam Research, Space Exploration Technologies, Alphabet |
The fund names and “as of” dates matter: holdings differ by strategy and can change. These examples illustrate exposure to technology companies, but they do not establish one universal BlackRock portfolio. They also do not establish a healthcare-company roster; a healthcare list would need to come from a named fund’s holdings disclosure.
Why BlackRock votes on some shares
BlackRock says its investment stewardship work includes engaging with companies in which clients are invested and voting at shareholder meetings when clients authorize it. Stewardship and proxy voting are ways of representing delegated client choices; they do not by themselves mean BlackRock controls the company.
Rank #2
BlackRock describes stewardship as part of its role as “an asset manager and a fiduciary to our clients.” It says its voting options are intended to reflect clients’ individual choices and goals through a selection of proxy voting policies. Eligible clients can use BlackRock Voting Choice, but voting authority and participation are not identical for every holding or investor.
- As of June 30, 2026, BlackRock said more than 90% of its clients’ public equity assets under management were invested in index equity strategies. This figure applies to clients’ public equity AUM, not all BlackRock assets.
- As of June 30, 2026, BlackRock said about $923 billion in index-equity AUM was represented by clients exercising BlackRock Voting Choice. This describes participating clients’ assets, not assets owned by BlackRock.
How to check a specific company or fund
- Identify the fund or account you mean. A fund’s holdings page answers what that fund reported; it does not answer what every BlackRock client account held.
- Open the fund’s official holdings page and note the share class and the “as of” date.
- Check whether the page lists the full portfolio or only a selection such as top holdings. Do not treat a partial list as exhaustive.
- For a company-level question about BlackRock itself, use its investor-relations reports. The 2025 annual report and 2026 proxy statement provide company-reporting context; fund pages are the more direct source for a fund’s portfolio holdings.
A complete list of companies across all BlackRock-managed funds and client accounts is not established by the examples here. For a particular investment, the relevant fund or account disclosure is the useful reference.
