Returning a Computer Bought at Costco: 90-Day Window and Steps

Costco’s U.S. policy gives members 90 days from receipt to return a computer. The return route depends on whether you bought it in a warehouse or online.

Costco’s U.S. policy lists computers among the electronics it accepts for return within 90 days of the date the member received the merchandise. For a warehouse purchase, take the computer to a Costco returns counter; for an online order, start the return on Costco.com or bring it to a warehouse. Check the item’s order or product details for any additional limitations.

How long do you have to return a computer to Costco?

Costco’s published U.S. return policy gives members 90 days from the date they received a computer to return it. The policy page, published October 2, 2025, lists computers in its 90-day electronics category. The clock is tied to receipt of the merchandise, rather than a generic purchase date. Costco’s return policy also says limitations apply.

This is general policy guidance, not a decision about a particular transaction. Check the item’s product details and, for an online order, its Shipping and Returns information for terms that may apply to that purchase.

Where to return a Costco computer

Computer bought at a Costco warehouse

Take the computer to the returns counter at any Costco warehouse. Costco’s warehouse instructions say a receipt or original product packaging can help, but may not be necessary to process a return. That is general warehouse guidance, not a computer-specific guarantee that a return will be accepted without them. Bring both if you have them. Costco’s warehouse return instructions were published March 2, 2026.

Computer ordered online

Costco says an online order can be returned at a warehouse or initiated through Costco.com. Review the product details and Shipping and Returns information for the specific item; the general policy does not establish whether an unidentified computer has additional order-specific terms.

Steps to start the return

  1. Check the delivery or receipt date. Confirm when the member received the computer and whether that date falls within the stated 90-day window.
  2. Use the route for the purchase channel. For a warehouse purchase, go to a Costco returns counter. For an online order, initiate the return through Costco.com or take it to a warehouse.
  3. Bring available paperwork and packaging. For a warehouse return, bring the receipt and original packaging if available; Costco says they may help but may not be necessary.
  4. Review order-specific information. Check the online listing or order’s Shipping and Returns details for applicable limitations. If you need help, contact Costco Member Services or use the order’s support and return information.

What the general policy does not settle

The published guidance does not establish how Costco will handle a computer that is damaged, missing accessories, partially used, purchased as a gift, or bought from a third party. It also does not specify a refund method or processing time for an unidentified purchase. Check with Costco about the particular transaction rather than assuming an outcome.

A return window is not the same as a manufacturer’s warranty or technical support. Costco’s cited guidance does not determine what warranty coverage or remedy may apply after the return period; consult the computer’s warranty information or contact the manufacturer for that question.
