Christmas Eve store hours and online order cutoffs depend on the retailer, location and service. No confirmed 2026 holiday schedule is established yet, so check your specific store and available pickup or delivery slots before making a last-minute trip or order.
Christmas Eve hours at Walmart, Target and other stores
There is no single closing time that applies to every store. Target says, “Hours vary by store,” and directs shoppers to its local store listing. Walmart’s store finder provides hours for individual locations. For other retailers, use the retailer’s official location page or app to confirm the specific store’s schedule.
Target
Target announced that its stores would be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve 2025. Those were 2025 hours, not a confirmed schedule for Christmas Eve 2026. For the current schedule, use Target’s Find a Store page; Target says store hours vary by location.
Walmart
Walmart’s store finder shows nearby locations, local hours, addresses and phone numbers when you search by ZIP code or city and state. Check the listing for the store you plan to visit; a prior-year schedule does not establish that location’s 2026 hours.

How to check your local store before you go
- Choose the exact location. Search by ZIP code or city and state in Target’s app or on its Find a Store page, or use Walmart’s store finder.
- Confirm Christmas Eve hours. Look for the date-specific local listing rather than relying on regular weekday hours or another branch’s schedule.
- Check the item and service you need. Verify local inventory and whether pickup, Drive Up or delivery is offered for that store and date.
- Review the available time slot and deadline. The order cutoff and final pickup or delivery time can be earlier than the store’s closing time.
- Recheck before leaving. Inventory and fulfillment slots can change, so confirm the current listing and order status close to your trip.
Can you order online for Christmas Eve pickup or delivery?
Possibly, but store hours do not guarantee that an online order can be placed, collected or delivered that day. Availability depends on the retailer, location, item, order deadline and open time slots. Check the selected store’s live checkout options for the specific service—pickup and delivery may have different deadlines.
What Target’s past holiday schedule shows
For Christmas Eve 2025, Target said customers could place Order Pickup or Drive Up orders until 6 p.m. local time and collect them by 8 p.m. Target also publicized Christmas Eve same-day delivery in its 2024 holiday announcement, with cutoffs specific to that season. Neither announcement confirms the services or deadlines for 2026.

What Walmart’s past holiday schedule shows
In December 2025, Walmart announced that Christmas Eve Express Delivery orders could be placed up to 5 p.m. local time, with delivery described as taking as little as one hour. That was a 2025 announcement—not a guarantee of delivery speed for an individual order or confirmation that the service will be available in 2026.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to compare when choosing a store or service
- The selected location’s Christmas Eve opening and closing times.
- Whether the item is available at that location.
- The separate order deadline for pickup and delivery.
- The earliest available collection or delivery slot.
- Whether the particular service is operating at that store on that date.
These checks help distinguish a store that is open from one that can actually fulfill your order in time. Confirm the current details for your chosen location rather than treating a retailer-wide holiday announcement as a promise for every store or order.
