Gujarat’s GST revenue for September 2026 was reported at Rs 8,167 crore, up 35% from a year earlier. The Times of India gave the September 2025 comparison as Rs 6,050 crore; a separate report described the Rs 8,167 crore as post-settlement SGST and used a Rs 6,052 crore comparison base.
What the September figures show
The Times of India reported on October 2, 2026, citing the state commercial tax department, that Gujarat collected Rs 8,167 crore in GST revenue in September, a 35% year-on-year increase from Rs 6,050 crore in September 2025. The amount and growth rate are reported figures, not an independently verified state release.
DeshGujarat reported the same September 2026 amount and 35% rise, but specifically called it post-settlement SGST and compared it with Rs 6,052 crore a year earlier. Because the reports describe the measure and prior-year base differently, their figures should be kept as separate reported series rather than treated as a fully reconciled comparison.
How Gujarat compares with national GST growth
Akashvani News reported that India’s gross GST collections grew 14.7% year on year in September 2026. That provides national context for Gujarat’s reported 35% rise, but it is not a like-for-like comparison established by the reports: the national figure is expressly gross GST, while the Gujarat coverage includes a post-settlement SGST description.

September receipts versus the April–September total
The monthly September amount should not be confused with the cumulative figures for April through September 2026-27. The Times of India reported Gujarat GST revenue of Rs 49,858 crore for that six-month period, up 29% from Rs 38,540 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier. DeshGujarat separately reported post-settlement SGST of Rs 49,794 crore, up 30%, from Rs 38,447 crore for the corresponding period of 2025. These totals differ in both amount and described measure.
Other state receipts reported for September
The Times of India also reported September receipts of Rs 2,930 crore in VAT, Rs 1,102 crore in electricity duty and Rs 24 crore in profession tax. It put the combined total for GST, VAT, electricity duty and profession tax at Rs 12,222 crore. This broader state-revenue total is not the same as the Rs 8,167 crore GST figure.

Where to check the underlying data
The GST portal publishes state-level monthly collection tables, and the GST Council maintains a revenue archive. The portal’s available September 2025 table provides historical context; it does not independently verify the September 2026 figures reported here. The accessible reports attribute the state figures to the commercial tax department, but no accessible official September 2026 state release or data table was located in the cited coverage.
