Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) and CareSource employees raised $50,000 for Massachusetts nonprofit Advocates through the 2026 CareSource Workplace Giving Campaign, administered by the CareSource Foundation. The campaign’s stated focus was the mental health crisis affecting communities across the country.

How the $50,000 campaign contribution was raised

The contribution was raised by CCA and CareSource employees through CareSource’s 2026 workplace giving campaign. The announcement identifies CCA as part of the CareSource family of companies and says CCA has a longstanding partnership with Advocates’ Friendship Project. It does not state how many employees donated or whether the total includes employer matching.

CareSource says the campaign is focused on mental health. It also names Ohio-based Integrated Services for Behavioral Health and Nevada-based The Children’s Cabinet as other 2026 beneficiaries.

Who Advocates serves

Advocates is a Massachusetts nonprofit serving people with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and other complex needs. According to CCA’s 2026 announcement, Advocates serves more than 50,000 individuals and families each year. That is the organization’s reported annual reach, not a count of people who will benefit directly from this contribution.

What the Friendship Project does

Advocates’ Friendship Project pairs community volunteers with individuals in need. The program is intended to reduce social isolation and improve quality of life by building personal connections.

John Koehn, CCA president and CareSource market president of Massachusetts, connected the campaign and the project through their shared emphasis on bringing people together. Advocates CEO Regina Marshall thanked the employees and described the gift as reflecting a shared belief in support, connection, and opportunity; those are her characterizations of the contribution’s meaning.

What is—and is not—known about the donation

The release says the $50,000 is intended to help Advocates expand services for residents and families. It does not provide a detailed spending plan or break down how the funds will be allocated, so the announcement does not establish which particular services or expenses will receive the money.

The CareSource Foundation says it has awarded more than $39 million to nonprofits since its founding in 2006, according to CCA’s 2026 announcement. That cumulative figure describes the foundation’s reported giving, not the size of this campaign or a separate contribution to Advocates.
