KLM’s U.S. card page advertises 70,000 Flying Blue miles and 100 XP after at least $3,000 in purchases within 90 days of account opening. Flying Blue Silver begins at 100 XP, so the offer is presented as including Silver status. But Bank of America’s general card page shows a different offer—50,000 miles and 100 XP after $2,000 in 90 days. Check the offer terms attached to the application you actually use before applying or counting on either bonus.
What the advertised offer requires
KLM’s U.S. Air France KLM Visa page lists a limited-time welcome offer of 70,000 bonus miles plus 100 XP after at least $3,000 in purchases in the first 90 days after account opening. The page says, “100 XP = Flying Blue Silver status.” KLM also promotes prequalification without a credit-score impact and identifies Bank of America as the card’s issuer and administrator. KLM’s card page notes that the offer may not be available elsewhere if you leave that page and links to separate card offer terms.
There is a material offer discrepancy: Bank of America’s general travel-card page lists 50,000 miles plus 100 XP after $2,000 in purchases within 90 days. The available pages do not explain why the offers differ, and the general-page offer should not be treated as the terms of KLM’s linked 70,000-mile offer. Bank of America’s general card page and its linked disclosures describe the separate 50,000-mile offer, not the full conditions for KLM’s advertised offer.
Before you apply
- Start from the KLM offer page if you intend to apply for the advertised 70,000-mile promotion.
- Open and read the disclosure attached to the application you are about to submit. Verify its bonus amount, minimum spend, deadline, eligibility exclusions, annual fee, and bonus-posting rules.
- Only count purchases you can make within the stated 90-day window without overspending or carrying costly debt. The offer is conditional on qualifying purchases; the cited pages do not establish every excluded transaction or eligibility rule for the 70,000-mile offer.
What the card earns and costs
KLM lists an $89 annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and the following ongoing earn rates. The page directs applicants to the issuer’s application disclosures for complete rates, fees, costs, and benefit terms. See the KLM card page and linked terms.

The card page also describes anniversary XP benefits: 20 XP each account anniversary, with additional XP tiers tied to qualifying purchases—80 XP for 100 total and another 60 XP for 160 total. The cited page does not fully establish all qualification and timing mechanics for those additional amounts, so use the card’s attached terms rather than assuming they apply automatically.
What Flying Blue Silver status provides
Flying Blue lists Silver at 100 XP. KLM’s published Silver benefits include priority check-in and boarding, free standard seat selection, some free seat options 24 hours before departure, and one extra checked bag on eligible KLM or SkyTeam flights. The exact benefit can depend on the operating carrier, itinerary, fare, and applicable restrictions; check the rules for the flight you plan to take. KLM’s status information describes the XP threshold and status benefits, while KLM’s U.S. Flying Blue page lists program benefits.

KLM says Flying Blue members earn XP through flights with KLM and partner airlines and that status retention is based on XP earned during a 12-month qualification period. The cited pages do not fully specify when the offer’s promotional 100 XP will post or how it will be treated in every member’s qualification period. Do not assume a particular posting date or duration of status unless the offer terms confirm it.
Other ways to earn Flying Blue miles
A U.S. resident considering the card can also check Flying Blue’s financial-partner directory for other routes to miles. It lists Bilt rent payments with this Visa, Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou, HSBC USA, and Wells Fargo Rewards. Transfer availability, ratios, and bonuses can change, so confirm current terms with the relevant program before moving points. Flying Blue’s U.S. financial-partner directory lists participating programs.

Who can apply
KLM describes the card as available to U.S. residents and territories and says Bank of America issues and administers it. Prequalification is not the same as approval, and the application’s own eligibility and credit terms govern. Because both the welcome offer and its detailed conditions can vary by application route, rely on the disclosure shown at submission rather than assuming every page or applicant will receive identical terms.
