The best corporate card for your company depends on its finances, repayment capacity, liability preferences, expense-control needs and international footprint—not a universal ranking. Ramp may suit teams prioritizing an integrated expense workflow; Brex is worth evaluating for spend management and international subsidiaries; BILL Divvy offers multiple funding structures and budget tools. Compare the agreement, eligibility rules, full fee schedule and rewards conditions before applying. “Corporate card” does not by itself tell you who is liable or whether a personal guarantee applies.

What is the difference between a corporate card and a business credit card?

These labels do not guarantee a particular liability arrangement. A corporate card may be issued to a company, while a conventional business card may be marketed to small businesses, but the product agreement—not the label—sets who owes the balance, whether a personal guarantee is required, how repayment works and what happens after a missed payment. Check the cardholder and guarantor sections of the agreement before applying.

Some products described as corporate cards are charge cards or offer more than one funding structure, rather than working like a revolving credit card. For example, Ramp calls its card a company-issued charge card, and BILL lists fixed-line, variable-line and prefunded options. Confirm the specific product and repayment terms you are offered.

This is a fit-based comparison, not an independent test. Most information below comes from provider pages; Ramp’s comparison of Amex is vendor-authored. “Confirm with issuer” means the cited material does not establish a comparable term for every applicant, product or location.

How to evaluate each option

Ramp: prioritize company controls and workflow

Ramp’s stated company-liability and no-personal-guarantee terms may appeal to a business seeking to keep card liability at the company level. Its page also makes clear that approval is not automatic: providers may use business-revenue thresholds or credit checks, and “no personal guarantee” should not be read as guaranteed access to a card or limit. The page advertises no annual fee, not an absence of every possible fee. Confirm other charges and repayment terms in the offer. Source: Ramp, current as accessed October 3, 2026.

Brex: evaluate the product and issuing entity for your operation

Brex describes controls by merchant and category, along with real-time expense tracking across teams, individuals and subsidiaries. It also describes local-currency cards and statements for international operations, which may matter to businesses managing spending across entities. Brex LLC is identified on its page as a wholly owned Capital One, N.A. subsidiary, and the page lists multiple issuing entities. That does not establish which issuer or terms apply to a particular applicant: check the legal issuer, location-specific availability, liability, fees and repayment conditions for the product you are offered. Source: Brex, current as accessed October 3, 2026.

Brex’s page includes this customer testimonial: “We’ve used our Brex rewards for a team offsite — and got a Times Square billboard.” — Katy Carrigan, CEO, Goody. It is one customer’s account, not evidence of a typical rewards outcome or an independent comparison.

BILL Divvy: compare funding structure and reward schedule

BILL lists fixed-line, variable-line and prefunded card options. It states that registered-business status, a US business bank account and an EIN are among its requirements. Its page lists cash back, statement credit and gift cards as reward redemption options. Points are not a fixed cash value based on the available terms, so compare the redemption you would actually use rather than treating a points multiplier as equivalent to a cash-back rate.

BILL reports that customers saved “$6.7K+” per month and earned “$54K+” in card rewards per month. BILL says these averages are based on surveys of 1,200+ BILL Spend & Expense customers conducted August 26–September 26, 2025. They are customer-reported survey figures, not a forecast for an individual company or a controlled comparison with other card providers. Source: BILL, current as accessed October 3, 2026.

American Express: treat the cited fee examples as a prompt to verify

Ramp’s May 5, 2026 vendor-authored comparison gives an $895 Business Platinum annual fee and a no-annual-fee Blue Business Cash card as examples. These are not an independent Amex review or a guarantee of current pricing, eligibility or terms. Check the relevant American Express offer and agreement before using either figure to compare total cost. Source: Ramp comparison, published May 5, 2026.

Who is eligible for a corporate credit card?

Eligibility and approval depend on the applicant, product, location and current provider terms. A provider’s marketing page cannot guarantee acceptance, a particular credit limit or the absence of a review. BILL’s listed requirements include a registered business, US business bank account and EIN; requirements for other providers and products should be confirmed directly. Ask what financial documents and business details are required, whether underwriting includes a credit check, and which legal entity issues the card.

Do corporate cards affect your personal credit score?

There is no universal answer based on the corporate-card label. Ramp says its card does not require a personal guarantee, but the available product information does not establish how every provider reports applications, account activity or missed payments to personal credit bureaus. Ask the issuer whether it will make a personal credit inquiry, whether you or another individual must guarantee repayment, and whether account performance can appear on a personal credit file. Get the answer for the exact product and agreement.

How to shortlist a card before applying

  1. Confirm the business and location requirements. Identify the legal entity and country of operation; check whether the provider serves that location and whether requirements such as a registered business, US bank account or EIN apply.
  2. Read the liability and underwriting terms. Find out who owes the balance, whether a personal guarantee or personal credit inquiry applies, what documents underwriting requires, and whether approval or limits depend on financial review.
  3. Model repayment against cash flow. Confirm whether the selected structure requires full payment each cycle, the due date and what happens if payment is late. Do not choose a reward schedule your business cannot reliably meet.
  4. Calculate total cost, not just the annual fee. Review the complete offer and agreement for foreign-currency, cross-border, late, returned-payment and other applicable charges. The cited annual-fee claims do not establish that all other fees are zero.
  5. Value rewards using your actual spending and redemption. Check eligible categories, caps or other conditions, payment-frequency requirements, redemption choices and the value your business can realize. Do not compare a points multiplier directly with cash back unless the redemption value is known.
  6. Test the finance workflow. List required employee-card controls, approval steps, receipt capture, accounting integrations and reporting. Confirm that the product supports your accounting stack and the way your team needs to reconcile spending.
  7. Check international needs and legal issuer. If employees spend abroad or across subsidiaries, confirm local-currency availability, statements, cross-border costs, supported countries and which legal issuer’s terms apply.
