Will Enterprise Products Partners Reach 30 Years of Distribution Growth by 2028?

Enterprise Products Partners needs three more annual distribution increases to reach 30 years by the end of 2028. Its latest reported coverage offers context, not a guarantee.

Enterprise Products Partners had reported 27 consecutive years of distribution growth through 2025. Reaching 30 years by the end of 2028 would require the partnership to increase its distribution in each of 2026, 2027 and 2028. That is a conditional milestone—not a company promise or a guaranteed outcome.

What the 30-year prediction means

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. reported that 2025 was its 27th consecutive year of distribution growth. The count refers to annual increases in distributions to common unitholders, not a guarantee of a particular future payment. Moving from 27 years through 2025 to 30 by year-end 2028 takes three more increases, one in each of the next three calendar years.

The company’s 2025 earnings release, filed February 3, 2026, reported total distributions declared of $2.175 per common unit for 2025, up 3.6% from 2024, and annual Operational distributable cash flow (Operational DCF) coverage of 1.7 times declared distributions. Those figures describe past performance; they do not establish that the next three annual increases will occur.

What the latest reported results show

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Enterprise reported a distribution of $0.56 per common unit, or $2.24 on an annualized basis. The quarterly rate was 2.8% higher than a year earlier. Operational DCF was $2.3 billion and covered distributions declared for the quarter 1.9 times, according to the company’s Q2 2026 earnings release, filed July 30, 2026.

The annualized $2.24 figure is the quarterly rate multiplied by four; it is not the total distribution declared for the full year. Enterprise’s investor-relations distribution history lists annual totals of $2.08 for 2024 and $2.16 for 2025. Its table labels those annual amounts “dividends,” but distributions is the more precise term for payments by this limited partnership.

How to read distribution coverage

Operational DCF coverage compares the company’s Operational DCF with distributions declared for a specified period. Enterprise’s reported 1.9-times Q2 2026 coverage means Operational DCF was 1.9 times the distributions declared for that quarter. The 1.7-times figure for 2025 is an annual measure, so the two ratios should be read alongside their different reporting periods rather than treated as interchangeable.

Coverage provides context on cash flow relative to distributions, but it does not itself announce or ensure a future increase. The Q2 results are company-reported historical figures, not a forecast of the board’s future decisions.

What could change the outcome

The 2028 milestone depends on Enterprise continuing to raise distributions annually through 2028. The reported streak and recent coverage establish a history and recent cash-flow context, but the available company releases do not promise increases for 2026, 2027 or 2028, or assign a probability to completing the streak.

In its Q2 2026 earnings release, co-chief executive officer of Enterprise’s general partner A. J. “Jim” Teague said, “Enterprise reported strong volumes, earnings and cash flow for the second quarter of 2026,” and that “The partnership handled record pipeline and marine terminal volumes during the quarter due in part to strong international demand for U.S. energy in April and May.” These are management’s descriptions of the quarter, not independent forecasts of future distribution growth.

Bottom line on the prediction

Thirty years of distribution growth by year-end 2028 is a plausible description of what would happen if Enterprise raises its distribution in each of 2026, 2027 and 2028. The prediction is not yet an established outcome: the reported record runs through 2025, and the latest located results cover Q2 2026.
