Amazon does not offer Prime at $6.99 a month just because someone is a senior. In the U.S., older adults can get that Prime Access price if they qualify through income verification or participate in one of Amazon’s listed assistance programs. Eligible new members may start with a 30-day free trial.
What Prime Access costs and includes
Amazon lists Prime Access at $6.99 per month and says it includes the same Prime benefits as a standard membership. The price is monthly; Amazon’s Prime Access page does not list an annual discounted option. Eligible new members may receive a 30-day free trial before the monthly fee begins. Amazon’s Prime Access explainer, updated August 6, 2026, describes the offer as more than 50% off standard Prime.

For comparison, Amazon’s 2026 offer page lists standard U.S. Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Amazon’s 2026 offer information provides those standard rates. Prime benefits include examples such as fast, free delivery, grocery savings and entertainment; benefit terms can change.
Who qualifies: age is not enough
Amazon says qualifying government-assistance recipients and income-verified customers may join Prime Access. Being 65 or older, receiving Social Security retirement benefits, or having Medicare is not by itself a qualifying category in Amazon’s current eligibility list. A senior may qualify if they meet Amazon’s income-verification route or participate in a listed program.

- SNAP EBT
- Medicaid
- WIC
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Direct Express Debit Card
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- National School Lunch Program
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
- Tribal Assistance Eligibility Letter
- Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)
- Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit (VSPB)
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
- Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
SSI and SSDI are listed; Social Security retirement benefits and Medicare are not. SNAP EBT use on Amazon does not itself require Prime, as Amazon explains in its SNAP shopping explainer, updated December 29, 2025.

How to apply for Prime Access
- Go to Amazon’s Prime Access page and start the eligibility process.
- Choose income verification or a listed assistance program, then complete the requested verification or upload proof of eligibility.
- After verification, enter payment and billing details. Eligible new members may begin with the 30-day trial; the $6.99 monthly fee applies after it ends.
If you already have Prime, Amazon says existing members can update their membership to Prime Access. Follow the membership options in your account and complete the same eligibility verification.

Reverification, cancellation and household sharing
Amazon requires Prime Access members to reverify eligibility every 12 months. It says members can cancel at any time through their account’s membership preferences. Amazon Family can share many Prime benefits with household members, but Amazon does not say that every benefit transfers; check the current sharing terms for the benefit you want to use.
