InterDigital’s bullish case has two distinct recent developments: Zacks’ 6–12 month recommendation changed to Outperform on July 30, 2026, and the company raised its regular quarterly dividend to $0.75 beginning with its fourth-quarter 2026 payment. Neither guarantees future returns. The company’s second-quarter results and higher revenue outlook add operating support to the story, but licensing economics, execution risks, and a notable inconsistency in Zacks’ published price target call for caution.
What is the latest Zacks rating for IDCC?
Zacks’ October 3, 2026 report says its recommendation on InterDigital (NASDAQ: IDCC) has been Outperform since July 30, 2026, after a prior Neutral recommendation. Zacks describes this recommendation as a 6–12 month view. It is an analyst opinion, not a promise of a particular share-price result. Zacks’ October 3 report
Zacks uses more than one rating label, and the measures should not be blended together. A September 18 industry outlook said IDCC had a Zacks Rank #1; the October 3 report separately showed a Zacks Style Score of 2-Buy. These labels have different dates and are not the same as the Outperform recommendation. Zacks report · Zacks industry outlook
Did InterDigital raise its dividend?
Yes. On September 9, 2026, InterDigital announced that its board raised the regular quarterly dividend from $0.70 to $0.75 per share, with the increase effective beginning with the fourth-quarter 2026 dividend. The company declared the $0.75 payment for October 28, 2026, to shareholders of record on October 14. Earlier in 2026, the company’s dividend table showed three payments of $0.70 each; those payments should not be mistaken for the new rate. What is InterDigital’s dividend yield?
Zacks’ October 3 report listed an annualized dividend of $3.00 per share and a 0.8% yield, based on an IDCC share price of $335.13 as of October 2, 2026. The yield is a snapshot, not a fixed payout: it changes as the share price changes, and the annualized figure reflects the new $0.75 quarterly rate. Zacks report
A dividend increase can matter to income-focused investors, but it is only one part of the return picture. At the quoted price and yield, the cash income is modest relative to the share price; an investor’s overall result also depends on the stock’s price movement and whether the company maintains its dividend.

What supports the bullish case?
Recurring revenue grew, and management raised guidance
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, InterDigital reported annualized recurring revenue of $626 million, up 13% year over year. The company said a new agreement with Amazon helped drive the quarter’s result. On July 30, it also raised its full-year 2026 revenue outlook by $85 million at the midpoint, to $775 million–$845 million. These are company-reported results and guidance, not independently assured future outcomes. InterDigital’s second-quarter 2026 results
InterDigital earns through technology licensing
InterDigital describes itself as a research and development company focused mainly on wireless, video, artificial intelligence, and related technologies. It develops foundational technologies and licenses them globally to manufacturers of wireless devices, consumer electronics, Internet of Things devices, cars and other vehicles, and cloud-service providers such as video-streaming companies. Its business is therefore not that of a conventional device seller: licensing agreements and their timing are central to revenue. InterDigital company and dividend information

That model can support recurring revenue, but the timing and terms of licensing agreements also matter when assessing how durable reported growth may be. A strong quarter or a higher outlook does not remove the possibility that revenue and margins will be affected by future negotiations and commercial conditions.
What risks complicate the “game changer” claim?
Operating costs, margins, and execution
Zacks’ October 3 report identifies several business risks: significant research and development spending can raise costs; commercializing and licensing technology can put pressure on margins; acquisitions may create integration risk; and competition remains a headwind. The report also listed an estimated 2.5% decline in EPS over four weeks. That short-term estimate change sits alongside, rather than negates, the more favorable longer-period estimate measure in Zacks’ September outlook: a 23.8% upward revision in its consensus estimate for current-year earnings since September 2025. The measures cover different comparison periods and should not be treated as interchangeable. Zacks report · Zacks industry outlook

The published target does not align with the quoted price
Zacks’ October 3 report listed a share price of $335.13 as of October 2 and a 6–12 month target of $71.00, alongside trailing and forward P/E ratios of 28.7 and 30.5. The target is strikingly below the quoted share price, an apparent internal inconsistency or data anomaly. It should not be treated as a reliable downside forecast without verification directly with Zacks. The report also gave October 29, 2026 as an expected report date; that is a forecast date and may change. Zacks report
The dividend remains a board decision
InterDigital’s 2025 Form 10-K says continuation of cash dividends and changes to the dividend policy depend on factors including earnings, financial condition, capital resources and capital requirements, alternative uses of capital, restrictions imposed by existing debt, economic conditions, and other matters the board considers relevant. The new quarterly rate is therefore not a guarantee of future payments at that level. InterDigital company and dividend information

How should investors assess the news?
The rating change and dividend increase are positive signals, but they answer different questions: Zacks’ Outperform recommendation reflects its 6–12 month view, while the dividend increase raises the company’s declared cash distribution per share. Neither by itself establishes that IDCC is attractively valued or that its business momentum will persist.
For a fuller assessment, investors can weigh the dated yield and dividend growth against the company’s recurring and agreement-dependent revenue, R&D burden and margins, direction of earnings estimates, and valuation in light of its growth prospects and risks. For investors primarily seeking income, the reported 0.8% yield is especially important context; those focused on total return will also need to evaluate the company’s operating outlook and share-price risk.
