The best BetOnline alternative is a sportsbook authorized where you are physically placing your wager—not a single operator that is legal for everyone. Start with your jurisdiction’s gaming regulator, check its current approved-operator list, and confirm the sportsbook accepts bets at your present location. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and Caesars are examples of operators listed by regulators in some jurisdictions, not a nationwide availability guarantee.
What are the best sites like BetOnline?
There is no universally best or legally available replacement. Treat “legit” as a licensing question: identify operators the regulator for your location authorizes for sports wagering, then compare their current terms and features. The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council’s approved-licensee page includes operators such as Caesars, FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings and Fanatics; the Indiana Gaming Commission’s vendor list includes BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings and FanDuel, among others. Those lists apply to their respective jurisdictions only.
For example, the Indiana Gaming Commission lists vendor and license information, while Tennessee publishes its approved licensees and registrants. Check the regulator’s own current records rather than relying on an operator’s marketing or a list compiled for another state. Operator authorization and availability can change; the Indiana list is current as of July 27, 2026.
How to check which sportsbooks are legal where you are
- Find the gaming regulator for your jurisdiction. Use the government regulator responsible for sports wagering where you intend to bet.
- Open its official approved-operator or licensee list. Look for the sportsbook brand and, when provided, the authorized legal entity and platform. A brand name alone may not tell you which entity holds the authorization.
- Confirm current location availability with the operator. Check the operator’s location page and any in-app location check before attempting to wager. Legal access may depend on your physical location at the time of the bet.
- Verify the product authorization. Sports betting, online casino games and poker may be regulated separately. Confirm that the specific product—not just the company—is authorized in your location.
- Read the current account and transaction rules. Review the operator’s terms on eligibility, wagers, deposits, withdrawals and disputes before opening or funding an account.
Can you use an online sportsbook when traveling?
Possibly, if the sportsbook is authorized and available at your current physical location. DraftKings says customers do not have to be residents of a state where it is live, but they must be physically there when placing a bet. That is DraftKings’ stated rule, not a guarantee that every operator or jurisdiction follows the same terms. Before betting away from home, check the local regulator’s list and the specific sportsbook’s location rules.

Why BetOnline’s status needs a location-specific check
The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council lists BetOnline among offshore illegal sportsbooks operating under many names. That is Tennessee’s regulator’s classification; it does not by itself establish BetOnline’s legal status for every customer in every jurisdiction.
BetOnline’s published rules say covered transactions are governed by Panamanian law. That describes the governing law stated in its rules; it is not a complete assessment of dispute remedies or of the law that applies to a particular customer. Check your own jurisdiction’s rules and the terms of any operator you consider.

Sportsbook, casino and poker access are not interchangeable
A company’s presence on a sportsbook list does not establish that all its products are authorized in the same place. DraftKings says casino games require regulatory authorization before they are offered. Its cited Pennsylvania terms require customers using casino products to be physically present in Pennsylvania and at least 21 years old. Those are Pennsylvania-specific terms; check the applicable regulator and product rules where you are.
How to compare authorized alternatives
Once you have narrowed the choices to operators authorized and available where you will wager, compare the details that affect your use. The cited regulator lists establish licensing examples, but they do not provide a like-for-like evaluation of odds, fees, promotions, payment options or customer support.

- Authorization: Is the operator—and the relevant legal entity or platform—on your regulator’s current list?
- Location access: Will the operator accept wagers at your present physical location, including if you travel?
- Product scope: Is the specific product you want, such as sports betting or online casino, authorized there?
- Terms: What do the current rules say about account eligibility, wagering, payment and withdrawal, and disputes?
- Features: Compare current odds, promotions, payment methods, fees, support and product breadth directly. No winner on these factors is established by the regulator listings cited here.
How widespread is regulated online sports betting?
DraftKings Inc.’s Form 10-K, filed in 2026 and hosted by the SEC, reported that 33 jurisdictions had legalized online sports betting as of February 10, 2026; it said DraftKings operated online sports betting in 27 of them. These are company-reported figures in a regulatory filing, not a current count for October 2026, and they do not establish that any particular sportsbook is available to you.
