Can You Get a Zindigi Debit Card Instantly? What the 2023 Issuance Pilot Means Now

Zindigi’s 2023 announcement promised instant physical-card issuance at participating locations, but current availability is not confirmed. Here’s how to check, what the app’s standard process involves, and how its physical and virtual cards differ.

Zindigi announced instant physical debit-card issuance at multiple locations in Pakistan in August 2023, for both new accounts and replacement cards. That announcement does not establish that instant issuance is available at every branch today: Zindigi’s ordinary card-order guidance describes delivery of up to seven working days. Confirm availability with Zindigi before visiting a location or relying on an immediate replacement.

What Zindigi announced about instant card issuance

On 13 August 2023, Zindigi, powered by JS Bank, announced a facility for customers to receive a fully functional debit card immediately at multiple locations nationwide after opening an account or applying for a replacement. The Daily Pakistan report described the facility as removing the usual waiting period. The announcement is evidence of the 2023 initiative, not a current guarantee of service at every Zindigi or JS Bank location.

No definitive location list, completion date for the initiative, or pilot-specific uptake figures are established in the available public information. If you need a card the same day, ask Zindigi whether a participating instant-issuance location is operating near you and whether it can issue your chosen card type before making the trip.

How to get a card if instant issuance is not available

Zindigi’s official card guidance describes an in-app order and delivery process. It says standard delivery can take up to seven working days; that is a stated maximum, not a promise that every order arrives within that time. The page also says a debit-card order costs Rs. 1,000, but fees can change, so check the app or current official schedule before placing an order.

  1. Order the card in the Zindigi app and select the card type you need.
  2. Enter the delivery address requested in the app.
  3. Use the app’s order-status tracking to follow delivery.
  4. After receiving the physical card, activate it. Zindigi’s guidance says biometric verification is required for activation.
  5. Create the card PIN and use the app’s card controls as needed.

If a card is lost or damaged, the 2023 announcement said replacement cards could be issued immediately at participating locations. It does not confirm that this remains an option at a particular location now. Ask about instant replacement, required verification, and the replacement charge; otherwise, use the current in-app replacement or ordering route.

Which Zindigi card fits your use?

Zindigi’s card information lists physical Mastercard and PayPak cards, Her Zindigi and Heroes PayPak variants, and a Visa Virtual Debit Card. The publicly stated features differ by card, so do not assume every variant has the same acceptance, eligibility, or benefits.

Mastercard Physical card. Zindigi’s card guidance identifies physical cards for ATM and point-of-sale use. Ordinary ordering follows the app and delivery process; biometric verification is required for activation. Instant issuance was announced in 2023 at participating locations, but current location availability is not established. Specific current international-use terms, eligibility details, and instant-issuance locations are not stated in the available Zindigi information.
PayPak Physical card. Zindigi lists PayPak among its physical cards; the cited guidance does not specify all acceptance limits or uses. Same standard ordering and activation guidance as other physical cards. The 2023 instant-issuance announcement did not provide a current location-by-card-type list. International acceptance and any variant-specific eligibility or benefits are not stated in the available information.
Her Zindigi and Heroes PayPak Named physical-card variants on Zindigi’s card page. Check the app or Zindigi for the ordering and eligibility details that apply to each variant. The cited page information does not establish the variants’ detailed benefits, eligibility, or differences in acceptance.
Visa Virtual Debit Card Virtual card for online transactions. Zindigi’s 23 July 2025 announcement said it supports local and international transactions, with 3D Secure, block/unblock controls, and spending limits. Zindigi described creating it instantly in the app. It is not a physical card for ATM cash withdrawal or in-person card-present use. Any conditions or limits that apply to an individual account or transaction should be checked in the app; the announcement does not supply a universal limit.

The key practical distinction is form factor: the virtual card is the documented instant, in-app choice for online payments, while physical cards are the relevant option for ATM and point-of-sale use. If you need a physical card immediately, the virtual-card feature does not resolve the question of whether instant issuance is operating at your location.

What the published fees do—and do not—tell you

The fee schedule effective from 1 July through 30 September 2026 lists the following charges. That period has ended, so these figures are historical schedule values, not a confirmed current quote for orders placed after 30 September 2026.

Card or transaction Charge in the schedule effective 1 July–30 September 2026
Mastercard physical card: issuance, re-issuance, annual fee PKR 1,000 for each listed charge
PayPak physical card: issuance, re-issuance, annual fee PKR 1,000 for each listed charge
Visa Virtual Debit Card: issuance/re-issuance and annual fee PKR 500 for each listed charge
Cash withdrawal at a JS Bank ATM Free under that schedule
Cash withdrawal at a non-JS Bank ATM PKR 35 under that schedule

The schedule’s listed virtual-card fee does not establish a charge for every other named variant, and the available fee information does not itemize a separate instant-issuance surcharge. Check the newest schedule in the app or through Zindigi before ordering, replacing a card, or withdrawing cash.

What the card announcements mean for online payments and Karachi transit

Zindigi’s Visa Virtual Debit Card announcement on 23 July 2025 is the clearest published basis for saying a Zindigi card can be used for local and international online transactions: it specifically described those uses and listed 3D Secure, spending limits, and block/unblock controls. Actual approval can still depend on the merchant, transaction, and account controls; the announcement is not a promise that every international transaction will be accepted.

Separately, Mastercard and Zindigi announced a Karachi mass-transit payment initiative on 2 August 2023. Its initial phase was to provide more than 1 million customers with prepaid, open-loop contactless Zindigi cards usable by tapping to pay bus fares. That announcement describes the intended initiative, not confirmation that a particular Zindigi debit card can currently pay every Karachi transit fare. Confirm current service and card eligibility with the transit operator or Zindigi.

The broader direction is consistent with Pakistan’s push toward digital payments: in August 2026, the Finance Division reported a meeting with JS Bank and Zindigi leadership focused on expanding digital financial services, cashless business models, and financial inclusion. That policy context does not verify the present status of the 2023 instant-issuance locations or transit rollout.

What Zindigi’s historical adoption figures show

JS Bank’s 2022 annual report recorded more than 5 million Zindigi downloads and 2 million new signups during 2022, alongside around 20 million transactions worth more than PKR 100 billion. The report also said approximately 60% of debit and virtual cards were transaction-active. These are figures reported for 2022, not current customer totals and not measurements of uptake in the instant-issuance initiative.
