Bookmark’s AiDA can generate a first draft of a website quickly, but “in two minutes” is a dated launch claim about initial generation—not a promise that a finished, accurate business site will be ready to publish that fast. You can describe your business, review the generated pages, and revise them using conversational AI and a visual editor.
What the two-minute claim actually means
Bookmark’s May 2, 2017 launch announcement said AiDA created the first version of a website “in under two minutes.” That is a vendor claim from launch, not a guaranteed benchmark for the current product or the time needed to publish a complete site. Bookmark’s launch announcement described AiDA selecting from millions of design combinations to produce that initial version.
A separate SitePoint walkthrough reported that, in that author’s test, the page-generation stage took about 30 seconds after the brief was entered. That is one author’s observation, not a measure of the full setup and publishing process. The SitePoint walkthrough is also historical, so neither figure should be treated as a current speed guarantee.
How to build and prepare a site with AiDA
Bookmark’s current guide describes three ways to start: use an example, describe your business in natural language, or modernise an existing site. The exact screens may change, but the work generally follows this sequence.

- Choose a starting route. Select an example, explain the business and the site you want, or start a modernisation flow for an existing site.
- Give AiDA useful business details. Be ready to provide the business type and name, contact information, goals, and the features you need. A historical walkthrough showed prompts about site type, business identity, information, a logo, and e-commerce; its author reported more than 600 business-type choices at that time. - Let it create the first draft. AiDA can generate page structure, copy, design, colours, imagery, and sections. Treat the result as a starting point rather than business-ready content.
- Request substantial revisions, then fine-tune visually. Use conversational instructions for changes such as a more modern homepage, rewritten copy, new colours, or a contact section. - Add the functions the business needs. Depending on the available plan and setup, these may include contact forms, appointment booking, service lists, portfolios, price lists, menus, customer reviews, or shop products. Check that the specific feature you need is available before building around it. Bookmark’s guide lists supported site-building options.
- Check the site before publishing. Review mobile layouts, every page’s copy, contact details, images, SEO metadata, and any legal or business claims. Bookmark says AI changes are reviewed and approved by the user before they go live. See the current Aida documentation.
What to know before choosing AiDA
AI requests have a monthly allowance
Current Bookmark documentation says AI use is metered by monthly allowances, larger requests consume more allowance, and unused limits reset monthly. It does not give a reliable way to translate an allowance into an exact number of pages. Manual editing remains possible after the AI limit is reached. AiDA and the classic builder are separate products
Bookmark’s current documentation distinguishes its Aida AI Website Builder from its classic drag-and-drop Website Builder. An existing classic-builder site cannot simply be moved into AiDA; the modernisation flow can recreate a version of it instead. AI and visual editing serve different jobs
Conversational generation is suited to larger structural or content changes; the visual editor is intended for quick visual adjustments. If precise control over every layout detail is central to your workflow, compare that approach with a conventional drag-and-drop builder before committing.
Check the full publishing terms
Plan details, AI allowances, pricing, domain terms, hosting categories, geographic availability, and migration options can change. Verify them for your location and intended site before paying. For a business, compare the complete cost and requirements—including forms or booking tools, e-commerce, SEO controls, support, and the ability to export or migrate—rather than choosing on first-draft speed alone.
