Arrow would offer Varta battery packs and batteries in four chemistries, giving OEMs in the region a channel for both standard products and customer-tailored battery solutions.
What the Arrow–Varta agreement covered
EE Times reported the announcement on 12 November 2014, and VIPress covered the European announcement on 15 December 2014. The pact made Arrow a distributor of Varta Microbattery products across EMEA. It concerned business-to-business supply, including products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), rather than a consumer retail promotion.
Arrow’s role was to connect Varta’s battery portfolio with customers and support sourcing across the product lifecycle. Varta said Arrow’s supply-chain management capabilities and knowledge of products and markets would support that work and strengthen Varta’s OEM business. Philipp Miehlich, Varta’s General Manager Sales & Marketing OEM, called Arrow “a perfect fit for Varta.”
Which Varta batteries and packs were included?
The announced range included battery packs and batteries using four chemistries:

The reports describe a product range, not particular model numbers, specifications or consumer listings. They do not establish which exact battery pack or cell is suitable for a given device; that depends on the device’s electrical, physical and safety requirements.
How OEMs could source a solution
Varta was described as producing both prototypes and large series, in standard formats or versions tailored to customer specifications. Its Power Pack Solutions department could identify a solution for a particular device. In practice, the pact therefore addressed more than distribution of off-the-shelf cells: it also provided an EMEA route to discuss a battery pack designed around equipment and production needs.

- Standard product: A catalogue-format battery or pack where the device requirements match an existing product.
- Tailored pack: A customer-specific format for equipment that needs a particular battery configuration.
- Volume supply: Prototypes could support development, while large-series production addressed manufacturing requirements.
The 2014 reports do not specify lead times, prices, minimum order quantities, technical certifications or current ordering arrangements. OEMs evaluating a design-in would need to confirm those details with the relevant supplier for their project and region.
Applications named in the announcement
The reported application areas were automotive, computers, mobile phones, medical equipment, measuring systems and security systems. These are examples of markets served by the range; the announcement does not assign a particular chemistry or pack to each application. Equipment designers must select a battery against the device’s requirements rather than infer suitability from the application category alone.
Keep the later HELLA–VARTA cooperation separate
A March 2025 FORVIA HELLA results presentation described a separate cooperation between HELLA Gutmann and VARTA to develop low-voltage battery diagnostic possibilities for European workshops. That later initiative concerns battery diagnosis, not Arrow’s 2014 EMEA distribution agreement.

For an OEM or procurement team, the agreement’s significance was its regional distribution channel and breadth of product formats: four chemistries, standard batteries and packs, and the possibility of tailored solutions from prototype through larger series. It is a historical announcement, however, and does not by itself confirm current availability, prices or a present-day Arrow–Varta supply relationship.
