TE Connectivity completed its acquisition of Deutsch Group SAS on April 3, 2012, for €1.55 billion, or approximately $2.05 billion at the exchange rates cited at the time. The deal added high-performance electrical connectivity products for harsh environments and expanded TE’s reach in transportation, aerospace and defense, and rail.
When did TE Connectivity buy Deutsch Group?
TE Connectivity announced the deal’s completion on April 3, 2012. It was a completed acquisition, not a pending transaction. TE Connectivity’s completion announcement described Deutsch as a leading provider of connectivity solutions for harsh-environment applications.
How much did TE pay?
The announced transaction value was €1.55 billion, approximately $2.05 billion at the exchange rates cited in TE’s April 3, 2012 release. The dollar figure is the release’s contemporaneous conversion, not a current-value estimate.
What did Deutsch make, and why did the deal matter?
Deutsch supplied high-performance electrical connectivity products designed for harsh environments. TE said the acquisition would expand its product portfolio and help it serve customers in three named market groups:

For TE, the strategic rationale was broader coverage of customers and applications where electrical connections must operate in demanding conditions. The completion announcement does not provide a model-by-model product comparison or identify specific connector formats.
What earnings impact did TE expect?
When it announced the acquisition, TE forecast that the deal would add approximately $0.20 per share to adjusted earnings in fiscal 2013, excluding acquisition-related costs. This was a forward-looking estimate made at the time, not a statement of realized results.

What is not established by the 2012 announcement?
The completion release does not establish Deutsch’s current standalone revenue, employee count, or reporting structure within TE in 2026. Those details should not be inferred from the deal announcement alone.
