HostColor announced AMD-powered dedicated servers for Texas on May 13, 2024, naming Houston and Dallas as the primary markets. The launch configuration featured AMD EPYC 7543 processors, 128–512 GB of RAM, NVMe storage, and 1 Gbps dedicated unmetered bandwidth with an upgrade path to 10 Gbps. HostColor’s current catalog still lists an EPYC 7543 server, but it does not confirm that this configuration is currently available in Texas.
For a business weighing a hosting bill, the key distinction is between the historical Texas launch and today’s catalog listing. The specifications and price below are HostColor’s published claims, not independent performance or availability tests.
What HostColor announced in Texas
HostColor’s May 13, 2024 announcement described an expansion of its AMD-powered dedicated-server offering into Texas. It emphasized Houston and the greater Houston area, then also said the servers were hosted in Houston and Dallas. That wording supports both markets as launch locations, but does not establish how many servers were deployed in either city or their current stock status. HostColor’s announcement
The company positioned the systems as regional, semi-managed infrastructure for workloads such as real-time data processing, storage, cloud applications, virtualization, and private-cloud deployments. Its stated facility footprint included DataBank in Dallas and Lumen facilities in several Texas cities. This is a provider-described footprint using facilities associated with those companies—not a claim that HostColor owns the sites or that every site hosted the specific EPYC model.

Launch specifications and current catalog listing
The 2024 announcement and HostColor’s current product catalog describe overlapping EPYC 7543 offerings, but they do not establish that the current configuration is identical to the Texas launch server.
| Detail | May 2024 Texas announcement | Current EPYC 7543 catalog listing |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | AMD EPYC 7543 | AMD EPYC 7543; 32 cores and 64 threads, listed at 2.80–3.70 GHz |
| Memory | 128–512 GB RAM | 128 GB RAM |
| Storage | NVMe SSD-based storage; capacity not stated | 2 × 2 TB NVMe |
| Network | 1 Gbps dedicated unmetered bandwidth, upgradeable to 10 Gbps | 1 Gbps port and 1 Gbps bandwidth allocation |
| Price and term | Not stated in the announcement | $569/month shown for a 12-month term |
| Location | Houston and Dallas named for the Texas launch | Multiple U.S. and European locations; Texas placement not specified |
The current configuration and price come from HostColor’s AMD dedicated-server catalog. Treat $569/month as the page’s advertised price for the stated term, not as a guaranteed month-to-month price or proof of Texas inventory. Confirm the final term, setup charges, taxes, and chosen options before comparing it with another provider.
Which Texas locations were named?
HostColor’s announcement listed the following facilities in connection with its Texas Edge Server platform:
Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
- DataBank: 400 S. Akard Street, Dallas.
- Lumen: 512 SE 8th Avenue, Amarillo; 4207 Smith School Road, Austin; 3180 Irving Boulevard, Dallas; 501 W. Overland Avenue, El Paso; 12001 N. Freeway, Houston; and 5130 Service Center Drive, San Antonio.
The address list describes the broader stated infrastructure footprint. It does not prove that the AMD EPYC 7543 SKU was installed at each address. Ask which facility would host a specific order and whether the server is physically single-tenant if that matters to your workload.
HostColor’s separate data-center overview describes its broader data-center and Edge infrastructure. Neither that overview nor the launch announcement should be read as a guarantee of a particular server’s current location.
What the hardware and network specifications mean
EPYC 7543 and memory
The EPYC 7543 is a server-class processor, and the announced 128–512 GB RAM range suggests configurations aimed at workloads needing substantial memory or multiple virtual machines. Those specifications alone do not establish application speed or a performance advantage over another provider. The published materials do not provide independent benchmarks.
Rank #3
NVMe storage
NVMe drives can offer low-latency, high-throughput storage, but real results depend on the drive model, disk layout or RAID configuration, filesystem, workload, and other system conditions. The launch announcement did not specify capacity or redundancy; ask what disks and protection are included in the actual quote.
Bandwidth
A 1 Gbps port describes a network interface rate, not guaranteed end-to-end application throughput. The 2024 announcement called the bandwidth dedicated and unmetered, with an upgrade to 10 Gbps, but buyers should confirm whether those terms still apply, whether the allocation is symmetrical, what transfer or fair-use rules exist, and what the 10 Gbps upgrade costs. “Unmetered” should not be assumed to mean unrestricted use under every contract or abuse policy.

HostColor says its administrators can install and configure a server, prepare a custom bare-metal or cloud environment, reinstall an operating system on request, and help troubleshoot operating-system, networking, and software-configuration issues. Those are useful infrastructure services, but the label “semi-managed” is not a complete service-level commitment.
Rank #4
Do not assume that it includes application debugging, database administration, routine security patching, monitoring, backups, incident response, or a particular response time. Before ordering, get the included work, support hours, escalation path, hardware replacement terms, and any service-level agreement in writing.
Deployment options and software details
HostColor said its Edge Servers could be configured as bare metal, public dedicated cloud, single-tenant private cloud, or multi-tenant Dedicated Private Cloud (DCIaaS), with virtualized environments also supported. The announcement named Proxmox VE, Kubernetes, VMware ESXi, and WireGuard VPN. It also prints “LCX” for Linux containers; that appears to be a source-page wording issue, so confirm the intended container technology rather than treating the spelling as a supported product name.
Software availability, licensing, installation responsibility, and compatibility can vary by configuration. In particular, verify licensing costs for commercial virtualization software and clarify whether HostColor or the customer maintains the operating system and hypervisor.

Who might find a Texas dedicated server useful?
A dedicated server can make sense when a workload has steady utilization, needs predictable physical resources, or benefits from a Texas network location. It may suit a business running databases, APIs, virtualization, game servers, media workloads, or private-cloud infrastructure—provided the exact configuration and support boundary meet its needs.
Compare total cost of ownership rather than just CPU and RAM: include the contract term, setup fees, bandwidth and transfer policy, IP addresses, backups, software licensing, support, taxes, and cancellation terms. A fixed monthly server commitment may be easier to budget for a stable workload, while highly variable demand can favor a pay-as-you-go cloud model.
Quick Recap
When a different hosting model may fit better
- Need elastic capacity, managed databases, serverless services, or a broad cloud ecosystem: compare cloud platforms such as AWS EC2 or Azure Virtual Machines. These are not direct like-for-like bare-metal comparisons.
- Need fully managed application or server operations: look for a contract that explicitly includes patching, monitoring, backups, and incident response rather than inferring these from “semi-managed.” Liquid Web’s dedicated-server offering is one provider to evaluate; compare its current scope and terms.
- Prioritize a different bare-metal inventory or self-management model: check current location and configuration availability from providers such as OVHcloud or Hetzner. Their current Texas availability, prices, and specifications are not established here.
- Require GPU acceleration, formal compliance evidence, or multi-region disaster recovery: the cited HostColor materials do not establish that the announced Texas configuration supplies a GPU, a particular compliance certification, or a complete disaster-recovery design. Verify these requirements separately before committing.
What to confirm before placing an order
- Ask whether the EPYC 7543 configuration is currently available in Houston, Dallas, or both, and request the exact facility for the quote.
- Get the full configuration in writing: processor, memory, drive models and capacity, RAID or redundancy, port speed, and any hardware tenancy details.
- Confirm whether bandwidth is dedicated, symmetrical, unmetered, or subject to a transfer or fair-use policy; request the price and terms for a 10 Gbps upgrade.
- Check whether IPv4 addresses, operating-system or virtualization licenses, control panels, backups, and DDoS protection are included or separately billed.
- Define semi-managed support: included labor, security updates, monitoring, response targets, remote hands, hardware replacement, and exclusions.
- Review deployment lead time, setup fees, contract length, renewal pricing, cancellation rules, and any SLA before treating the monthly quote as the full cost.
- If network performance is critical, request a test IP or looking-glass endpoint and test from the locations that matter to your users.
