For a U.S. Samsung.com or Shop Samsung app return, Samsung says to allow up to 10 business days after the warehouse receives the item to inspect it and initiate the refund. Your bank or payment provider may then take another 2–7 business days to post the money. That means roughly 12–17 business days after warehouse delivery, plus the time it takes to ship the return. Samsung’s return-process page gives the shorter bank estimate of 2–5 business days; its general refund page says 5–7, so neither is a guaranteed arrival date. Samsung’s return instructions and general refund guidance describe these separate stages.
The clock depends on what happened: a canceled order with a pending card hold is not the same as a returned product, and store, Best Buy pickup, carrier, and third-party purchases follow different processes.
First identify what kind of Samsung refund you’re waiting for
- Pending authorization after cancellation: A temporary hold may disappear rather than appear as a refund. Samsung says it releases the hold after cancellation, but the bank can take up to five business days to remove it. Samsung’s preauthorization explanation.
- Samsung.com or Shop Samsung return: Samsung must receive and review the product before initiating the refund.
- Samsung Experience Store return: The return is handled by the store where you bought the product, with a distinct acceptance date and timing.
- Samsung.com order picked up at Best Buy: Samsung publishes a separate return process and window for these orders.
- Carrier or other retailer purchase: The carrier or seller generally controls the product return and refund. A Samsung product refund does not necessarily cancel a carrier installment agreement or service plan.
- Trade-in or service adjustment: Trade-in value, rejected trade-ins, Samsung Care+ and other services may be separate from the refund for the new product.
“Samsung processed the refund” means Samsung initiated a payment back to the original payment method; it does not mean the bank has posted it to your account.

| Situation | Samsung’s stated processing period | Additional payment-provider estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung.com shipped return | Up to 10 business days after warehouse delivery | 2–5 business days on the return-process page; 5–7 on Samsung’s general refund page |
| General Samsung refund guidance | Within 10 days after receiving and processing the return | 5–7 business days |
| Samsung Experience Store return | Up to 10 business days from store acceptance | 5–7 business days in some cases |
| Samsung.com order picked up at Best Buy | Up to 10 business days from return acceptance | 5–7 business days |
| Cancellation with authorization hold | Samsung releases the hold after cancellation | Up to five business days for the financial institution to remove it |
Samsung’s return process page is the more specific source for a shipped Samsung.com return, but its general refund page gives a different bank estimate. Use 2–7 business days as a planning range after Samsung initiates the refund, and check with your payment provider if it is not visible after that range.
Samsung Experience Store purchases
Samsung says to return a store purchase to the same Samsung Experience Store where it was purchased. A Samsung.com purchase cannot be returned at a Samsung Experience Store, and a store purchase cannot be returned through Samsung.com. The store refund estimate begins when the store accepts the return. Samsung’s store refund policy.
Samsung.com orders picked up at Best Buy
Samsung says these orders generally must be returned within 15 days of pickup. Its estimate is up to 10 business days from acceptance, plus a possible 5–7 business days for the financial institution. Check the order-specific instructions before returning it. Samsung’s Best Buy pickup refund page.

How to request and track a Samsung.com return
- Sign in to Samsung.com or the Shop Samsung app and open My Orders. Find the order and check the displayed “Return eligible through” date. For a guest order, use Samsung’s guest-order lookup with the order ID and requested identifying information.
- If eligible, contact Samsung Order Support or use the return option shown for the order. Obtain the return label through email or My Orders.
- After Samsung accepts the request, ship the item within the additional 15-day shipping period. The standard return window is generally 15 days after delivery, but My Orders shows the applicable deadline and promotional periods may extend it. Samsung says the window cannot be extended. Samsung’s U.S. return policy.
- Prepare the item and include the required components, promotional items and bundle products. For devices that store personal information, back up your data, sign out of accounts, disable device-finding and security features where applicable, erase the data and factory-reset the device. Remove personal SIM cards, cases and accessories not being returned.
- Photograph the product, serial number, included contents and sealed package. Keep the return approval, label, carrier acceptance receipt and tracking number. Use the designated UPS location, or arrange pickup where Samsung permits it for eligible large TVs.
- Track the shipment. Samsung’s warehouse-review estimate starts when the return is delivered—not when you request the return, print the label or hand the package to the carrier.
- Once Samsung initiates the refund, check the original payment account and allow the payment provider’s posting time.
Return the full bundle and protect your refund amount
Samsung says promotional products and bundled items generally must be returned for a full refund. Missing a promotional gift can lead to its value being deducted, and returning only part of a discounted bundle can remove the bundle discount. Include the original accessories and components—such as chargers, cables, manuals, S Pens, TV remotes, stands and other supplied parts—as applicable. Samsung may reject a return or reduce the refund if items are missing or the product has customer-caused damage.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsKeep the invoice and compare the final credit with the invoice rather than only the checkout amount. Samsung may process order items or components separately, so a refund can arrive as more than one transaction. Samsung’s refund guidance.
Trade-ins can be separate from the product refund
If you have not sent your old device yet, decide whether you are keeping the new Samsung product before shipping the trade-in. Samsung says a completed trade-in device cannot necessarily be returned. If you return the new device after sending the old one, you may not receive the trade-in value as cash or as a separate refund. That is distinct from whether Samsung refunds the purchase price of the new product. Samsung may also charge the original payment method if a trade-in is late, rejected or valued below what was represented. See Samsung’s trade-in FAQ and device trade-in FAQ.

Why a Samsung refund may be smaller than expected
Samsung’s U.S. policy lists fees and exclusions that depend on the product category and return reason. A 5% restocking fee may apply to certain devices, TVs, audio products, displays and accessories; A-series and S-series mobile phones are listed as exceptions to that device fee. A 15% collection and restocking fee may apply to many home appliances and accessories. Fees generally do not apply to products returned because they arrived damaged or defective, subject to reporting and validation rules. Shipping, installation and service charges may be nonrefundable for some categories.
- A promotional gift or bundle component was not returned.
- A bundle discount was lost because only part of the bundle was returned.
- A restocking or collection fee applies to the product category and return reason.
- Shipping, installation or service fees are excluded from the refund.
- The product is missing original components or is judged not to meet the return condition requirements.
- A trade-in credit is being handled separately from the new product refund.
- Tax, financing or other invoice adjustments affect the credited amount.
Check the order invoice and the policy for the exact product; the listed fee percentages do not apply to every Samsung return. Samsung’s return policy.
How to find a missing refund
- In My Orders, check the order and refund status. Note whether Samsung shows the return as delivered, received, processed or refunded.
- Confirm the carrier’s delivery date and tracking result. If the package is not marked delivered, contact the carrier with the tracking number.
- For a delivered return, count up to 10 business days from warehouse delivery for Samsung’s review and initiation period. For the bank portion, count from the date Samsung says it issued the refund, not from the original return request.
- Look at the original payment account and search for multiple credits. A replacement card may still be linked to the same account; a closed account may require the bank to route the credit.
- Ask the bank or payment provider whether a Samsung credit is pending, rejected or posted to another account. Samsung refunds go only to the original payment method for security reasons. If that account is closed, Samsung advises contacting the bank about receiving the funds another way. Samsung’s original-payment-method guidance.
- If the stated processing period has passed, contact Samsung Order Support with the order number, return tracking number, delivery confirmation and refund-status details. Retain the approval email, invoice, package photos, support transcripts and case number.
If the carrier says the return was delivered but Samsung has no record after the review period, provide the delivery confirmation to Samsung. If Samsung confirms it issued the credit but the bank cannot locate it after its posting window, follow up with the issuer. A payment dispute is a later escalation to consider only after documenting the transaction and attempting to resolve it with Samsung and the payment provider.

Cancellations, payment methods and carrier plans
A pending hold is not always a refund
For many credit and debit card orders, Samsung places a preauthorization when the order is placed and charges the card when the order is prepared to ship or is ready for pickup. If the order is canceled before the charge is completed, the pending authorization may simply disappear. Samsung says PayPal and Amazon Pay may be charged immediately after an order is placed, so cancellation may involve an actual reversal instead of only a released card hold. Samsung’s payment timing information.
Carrier billing or financing
For a carrier-financed or carrier-billed device, contact the wireless carrier about cancellation instructions, service agreements, taxes, fees and installment balances. Returning a device to Samsung does not necessarily end the carrier contract or payment plan. If the product came from a carrier or another retailer rather than Samsung.com, follow that seller’s return policy.
Defective or damaged items and stopping a return
For Samsung.com purchases, Samsung’s policy says damage or nonfunctionality generally must be reported within five days of delivery, or within two days of installation, whichever is later. Photos, packaging evidence or a technician assessment may be required. A defect or shipping-damage claim is not necessarily handled like a change-of-mind return; report it promptly and follow the case-specific instructions because validation and fee treatment can differ. Where you bought the product matters
This guidance covers U.S. Samsung.com and Shop Samsung app orders, Samsung Experience Store purchases, and Samsung.com orders picked up at Best Buy where stated. A Samsung product bought directly from Best Buy, Amazon, a carrier, Walmart or another retailer is generally returned under that seller’s policy. A Samsung.com return also does not automatically resolve a separate carrier account, trade-in transaction or service subscription. Start with the seller and payment method shown on your invoice.
