The change expanded the wallet beyond the Ethereum, Polygon and BNB networks named in the announcement, but the news appeared as a company-supplied press release—not independent product testing. It did not establish the wallet’s custody model, fees, security or whether Bitcoin support remains available today.
What Aloha announced
Aloha’s October 25, 2023 announcement, datelined Limassol, Cyprus, described Bitcoin support as an update to the crypto wallet built into Aloha Browser, not the launch of a separate wallet. The Daily Hodl published the item in its “Press Releases” section and disclosed that it was sponsored promotional material. Read the announcement.
Aloha said users could create a wallet or import an existing one, then manage cryptocurrency and access Web3 services from within the browser. The company’s founder, Andrew Frost, characterized Bitcoin’s inclusion as a step toward making the wallet more complete. That is Aloha’s product positioning, not an independent assessment of the wallet.
Why adding Bitcoin changed the wallet’s scope
The announcement described the wallet’s earlier focus as Ethereum, Polygon and BNB—networks in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ecosystem. Bitcoin uses a different network and transaction model; it is not simply another EVM token. A wallet that handles both needs to account for different address formats, transaction construction, signing and fee conditions.
The release did not explain how Aloha implemented Bitcoin support. It does not establish whether the wallet supported native Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network or a wrapped representation on another chain, nor does it specify supported address types, Lightning, fee controls, transaction replacement or other Bitcoin-specific features. “Bitcoin support” should therefore be read as the announced expansion, not proof of every capability a dedicated Bitcoin wallet might offer.

What users were reportedly able to do
Aloha’s release described a set of wallet and Web3 features, including multi-asset management, transaction history, token and NFT verification, and access to Web3 services. It also named MoonPay, Transak and Changelly as partners for cryptocurrency purchases or swaps. The announcement does not detail which provider handled a particular transaction, how a swap was routed or which assets and countries were eligible.
- Buying or swapping: These services were attributed to third-party partners; Aloha was not described as an exchange. Each provider may set its own fees, spread, limits, payment methods, identity checks and geographic restrictions.
- Creating or importing a wallet: The release does not say whether import meant a recovery phrase, private key or another format, so it is not a reliable source for setup instructions.
- Using Web3: Browser access may reduce app switching, but it does not make a blockchain transaction private or ensure that a dApp request is safe.
What the announcement does not establish
The press release does not answer the questions a user should settle before putting money in a wallet. “Built into the browser” says where the feature appeared; it does not, by itself, reveal who controls the keys or how funds can be recovered.

- Custody and recovery: It does not establish whether the wallet was self-custodial, where keys were stored, whether a recovery phrase or backup was available, or whether Aloha could access, freeze or restore funds.
- Network and transaction details: It does not specify native versus wrapped BTC, mainnet or testnet coverage, address formats, custom fee settings, confirmation handling, or support for Lightning, Taproot, SegWit, coin control or hardware wallets.
- Costs and eligibility: It gives no fee schedule, spreads, transaction limits, country availability, payment methods or partner verification requirements.
- Security evidence: It does not establish an audit, open-source components, phishing protections or the wallet’s key-security design.
- Release status: It does not identify the app version containing the feature or establish that it was live for every user on announcement day.
These are material distinctions, not minor technicalities. A browser wallet can be convenient, but putting browsing and wallet access in one app also concentrates risk if a device or session is compromised. A privacy-oriented browser does not make Bitcoin transactions anonymous, prevent a payment provider from collecting identity information, or establish how wallet metadata is handled.

The 2023 announcement documents what Aloha said it was adding at that time. Aloha’s current website promotes its browser, VPN, ad blocking, privacy features, premium options and desktop availability, but its homepage does not independently confirm current Bitcoin-wallet support. Browser availability or marketing claims should not be taken as proof that the wallet feature remains available on a particular platform or in a particular country.

Before transferring funds, check the wallet inside the current official Aloha app and consult current official documentation for the exact platform and region. Confirm the supported Bitcoin network and asset, recovery method, provider quote and fees, and whether you can restore the wallet independently of the browser. Do not rely on the 2023 press release for present-day instructions.
Who might find the announcement relevant?
The announced feature could interest an existing Aloha user looking for browser-integrated access to crypto and Web3. Its convenience is not enough to make it the right choice for every use case.

- Consider it only after verification if browser integration is important and you can confirm custody, recovery, fees and current platform support before depositing funds.
- Look elsewhere for a specific requirement if you need verified hardware-wallet support, advanced Bitcoin transaction controls, a documented recovery process or evidence of a security audit. The announcement does not establish those features.
- Keep privacy claims separate from wallet privacy: browser protections do not remove the public record of on-chain activity or the data a purchase or swap provider may require.
What Aloha said about its roadmap
The 2023 announcement also said Aloha planned further wallet enhancements through 2024 and continued development of browser privacy features, including VPN and ad blocking. Those were forward-looking statements at the time; the release does not establish which roadmap items were delivered or whether they remain current. It also described Aloha as available on Windows, iOS and Android and having millions of users worldwide—claims from the promotional announcement, not independently verified measures of current wallet reach.
