The Galaxy S23 FE did reach $499.99 in a U.S. Amazon promotion—but that was on August 28, 2024, not a current 2026 offer. The reported price covered the 128GB model; the 256GB version was listed at $559.99. Today, shoppers should compare the phone’s condition and warranty with newer or certified-refurbished alternatives before paying anything close to $499.
What the $499 Galaxy S23 FE deal included
Android Headlines reported on August 28, 2024, that Amazon was offering the new 128GB Galaxy S23 FE for $499.99 in the United States. Its 256GB counterpart was listed at $559.99. The report does not establish whether the specific offer was sold and shipped directly by Amazon or by a marketplace seller, so buyers should not assume every listing at that price had identical fulfillment or return terms. Android Headlines’ August 2024 deal report
This was promotional pricing, not a new launch or permanent price. Samsung had already run a similar promotion in December 2023, when the 128GB model was reported at $499 and the 256GB model at $559. SamMobile’s December 2023 report
How much lower was it than the original U.S. price?
The S23 FE launched in the U.S. at $629 for 128GB and $689 for 256GB. Compared with those launch prices, the 2024 Amazon prices were about $129 lower for either model. Android Headlines described the 128GB offer as $100 off, apparently comparing it with a then-current $599.99 street price rather than the original launch price. Those figures use different reference prices, so they are not contradictory. SamMobile’s report on U.S. availability and launch pricing · Android Headlines’ deal report

What you got for the money
The U.S. Galaxy S23 FE combines several features that are less common together in midrange phones: a high-refresh-rate AMOLED screen, a dedicated telephoto camera, wireless charging, IP68 water and dust resistance, and Samsung DeX. Its U.S. version uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1; some international versions use the Exynos 2200, so reviews and performance comments about one regional model do not automatically apply to the other. Why $499 was appealing—and where the phone compromises
Premium features for less than a standard flagship
At the time, the S23 FE offered Samsung’s AMOLED display, three useful rear-camera perspectives—including 3× optical zoom—wireless charging, IP68 protection, One UI, and DeX at a price substantially below the standard Galaxy S23. That made it a compelling lower-cost way into Samsung’s ecosystem, particularly for someone who values a telephoto camera or DeX more than having the newest processor.

- The S23 FE offers a 6.4‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 1,450 nits peak brightness plus a wide DCI‑P3 color gamut. That means vibrant, high‑contrast visuals that stay bright and legible even outdoors.
An aging chip, modest charging, and a less polished build
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was a powerful chip for its generation, but it was already older than newer Snapdragon platforms when the 2024 promotion ran. Contemporary coverage noted that it could run hot under demanding use. The 25W wired charging is also modest beside faster-charging alternatives, and the phone has larger bezels and a heavier design than the standard S23. TalkAndroid’s 2024 coverage reported that the charger was not included; check the exact listing and package contents rather than assuming an adapter comes in the box. TalkAndroid’s 2024 coverage
Battery results depend on workload and settings. Android Headlines described its experience as strong, while stopping short of calling battery life exceptional; that is a reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee for every user or a used device with battery wear. Android Headlines’ report

What the price context looks like in 2026
The $499 Amazon promotion is historical. In a snapshot dated August 18, 2026, Samsung’s U.S. Certified Re-Newed page showed the S23 FE at $389 and the newer S24 FE at $489. Those are prices observed on that date, not guaranteed current offers, and Certified Re-Newed is not the same condition as a brand-new retail phone. Samsung says its program includes a certified new battery, new identifiers, and the latest software; availability can change. Samsung Certified Re-Newed phones
Best Buy marketplace pages also showed refurbished S23 FE listings around $230–$250, with seller and availability differences. Those offers are not necessarily Best Buy inventory, and a marketplace price alone does not establish battery health, warranty coverage, or return terms. A separate marketplace page showed a $479.99 listing marked “new,” but that should not be treated as a representative first-party retail price. Best Buy marketplace product page

Should you buy an S23 FE at $499?
In 2026, paying $499 for an S23 FE makes sense only if the exact listing is genuinely new, unlocked, and backed by clear return and warranty terms—and if you specifically value its Samsung features enough to choose an older generation. The newer S24 FE appearing at $489 in Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed catalog is a strong reason to compare condition and remaining support life before choosing an S23 FE at the same price; the S24 FE figure is for a renewed unit, not new retail hardware.
If you are open to refurbished hardware, Samsung’s $389 S23 FE Certified Re-Newed listing was a more direct lower-cost option in the August 18, 2026 snapshot. A cheaper third-party refurbished listing may save more, but the price is not comparable unless you also account for seller reputation, battery condition, warranty, and return policy.

Check these details before checkout
- Condition and seller: Confirm whether the phone is new, Samsung Certified Re-Newed, refurbished, or open-box, and identify who sells and fulfills it.
- Unlocked status and model: For a U.S. unlocked purchase, check for a U.S. model such as SM-S711U or SM-S711U1 rather than assuming an international SM-S711B will have the same carrier compatibility. The U.S. unlocked Graphite 128GB SKU appears as SM-S711UZAAXAA in Best Buy’s listing. Best Buy U.S. unlocked listing
- Used-phone checks: For a used device, verify the IMEI and blacklist status, inspect battery and screen condition, and confirm that the return window and warranty are in writing.
- Storage trade-off: At the reported 2024 prices, 256GB cost about $60 more than 128GB. If that difference appears again, the larger model may be better for someone keeping the phone for years; check the exact U.S. specification before assuming expandable storage is available.
- Price conditions: Check whether checkout price depends on a trade-in, financing, carrier activation, color, or limited inventory. A displayed reference price is not necessarily a current Samsung MSRP.
