Robinhood’s public status page showed “All Systems Operational” on August 18, 2026, and did not list incidents for August 16–18. But Robinhood says that page has been retired and directs users to its support channels for live updates. The official sources reviewed do not confirm a stock-page crash or say a specific fix is in the works. If the app closes when you open a stock, first check whether it happens with one ticker or several, then update and restart the app. If an order may have been submitted before the crash, check its status before trying again.
Is Robinhood down, or is the stock screen crashing?
A status-page check is useful, but it cannot establish that every feature is working for every user. On August 18, 2026, Robinhood’s public status page displayed “All Systems Operational” and showed no incidents for August 16, 17, or 18. The page also says it has been retired, so use Robinhood’s own support channels for live updates: Robinhood status page.
There is no accessible official incident notice in the reviewed sources specifically confirming that the app crashes when users view individual stocks, and no confirmed statement that a fix is in the works. A general app update or a quiet status page is not proof that this particular issue has been fixed.

- A platform-wide service problem: login, quotes, orders, or account access may fail across devices.
- A stock-detail bug: one screen, symbol, chart, or navigation path may trigger an error.
- A device or app crash: the app closes because of its version, local session, device, operating system, network, or available resources.
- A market-data or trading condition: a blank or flat chart, delayed quote, or pending order may reflect a halt, market closure, or data issue rather than the app closing.
Work out which symptom you have before changing account settings or retrying a trade.
Identify what triggers the failure
Test more than one ticker
Try opening two or three unrelated stocks. If only one repeatedly causes trouble, the issue may be specific to that symbol’s data, chart, trading status, corporate action, or screen rendering. If many stocks trigger the same failure, look first at the app version, account session, connection, device, or a broader service problem.
Separate a crash from a loading or chart problem
If Robinhood closes altogether, treat it as a crash. If the app stays open but a quote is blank, a chart will not load, or only the chart looks frozen, test your connection and the web interface before concluding that the app itself has crashed. A flat chart can have a market-related explanation; it is not by itself proof of an app failure.

Check where the problem starts
Note whether the failure occurs after tapping a stock in search, a watchlist, or your portfolio; whether it affects charts only; and whether the same symbol works on the web. These details help distinguish a particular screen or route from a problem that affects all stock pages.
| What you see | More likely possibilities | First check |
|---|---|---|
| The app closes when you open any stock | App, device, session, or broader service issue | Update the app, force-close it, and restart the device |
| Only one ticker triggers the crash | Symbol-specific data, chart, trading-status, or rendering issue | Test other symbols and check for a trading halt |
| The chart is flat but the app remains open | Trading halt, market closure, or no recent trades | Check the security’s trading status |
| A quote is blank or delayed | Connection or market-data issue | Switch networks and test the web interface |
| You are unsure whether an order went through | Submission or confirmation uncertainty | Check order history before retrying |
| Login fails on both web and mobile | Authentication, account, or service issue | Use Robinhood’s official support channels |
| The website works but the phone app does not | Mobile app or device-specific issue | Update or, after checking authentication access, reinstall the app |
Try Robinhood’s recommended troubleshooting steps
Robinhood’s guidance for a frozen app recommends the steps below. Work through them in order, testing the stock screen again after each one: Robinhood’s frozen-app troubleshooting guide.
- Check your connection. If Wi-Fi is weak or unstable, switch temporarily to cellular data, or try Wi-Fi if cellular service is poor.
- Update Robinhood. Install the newest version available for your device through its official app store.
- Force-close and reopen the app. Use your device’s app-switching controls to close it fully, then launch it again.
- Log out and back in. Do this only if you can sign in again, including completing any required authentication.
- Restart your device. Then reopen Robinhood and test the same ticker.
- Close other background apps. Freeing device resources may help if the device is under load.
- Contact Robinhood Support if the problem continues.
Device-specific checks and workarounds
iPhone or iPad
Check for an iOS update as well as an update to Robinhood. If the app still crashes after force-closing and restarting, reinstalling it is a reasonable next diagnostic step. Before deleting the app, make sure you know your login details and can access any required two-factor authentication; reinstalling can create sign-in friction.

The U.S. App Store listing reviewed on August 18, 2026, showed Robinhood version 2026.31.0 and an iOS 17.0-or-later requirement. Availability and rollout timing can vary by country, device, and account. The listing’s general “bug fixes and improvements” language does not establish that this stock-view crash was fixed: Robinhood’s U.S. App Store listing.
Android
Update Robinhood through Google Play and install applicable Android system or Google Play component updates, then restart the device. Android settings labels and paths vary by manufacturer, so there is no single universal route to a cache or storage setting. Robinhood’s listed first-line steps do not require clearing app data; avoid deleting data or reinstalling until you know you can sign back in.
Web browser
If available to you, try signing in through Robinhood’s website. This can help determine whether the failure is limited to the mobile app and may provide another way to check account or order information. As diagnostics, try a private window, temporarily disable browser extensions, or test another current browser. A private window is only a test, not a guarantee that an issue is browser-related.

Check whether the stock is halted
A trading halt can make a security’s chart appear frozen without causing the app to crash. Robinhood says halts are generally imposed by an exchange or regulator rather than Robinhood; during a halt, a chart may remain flat because it reflects the last filled trade, and orders may remain pending until trading resumes. Market closure, volatility, or a lack of recent trades can also make a chart appear stale. Robinhood explains halts and links to exchange resources in its trading-halts help article.
If just one security looks abnormal, check its trading status and the relevant exchange’s halt information through the resources Robinhood links from that article. A halt can explain a flat chart or pending order; it does not, by itself, explain why the app forcibly closes.
If Robinhood crashes while you are placing an order
A crash or missing confirmation does not prove that an order failed. Repeatedly submitting the same order could create a duplicate if the first request went through but its confirmation screen did not load. This is prudent operational guidance, not a guarantee about how any particular order was processed.

When to contact Robinhood Support
Escalate if the app keeps crashing after you update and restart, the same ticker repeatedly causes a crash across networks, the failure affects order entry or cancellation, web and mobile show conflicting order information, or you see an unfamiliar account or authentication error. Also contact support if the problem persists across devices or days.
Use Robinhood’s official support site or the support route in the app when available. Do not rely on phone numbers from search ads, social posts, or unofficial “support” pages.
Include details that let support reproduce the problem:
Quick Recap
- Device model, operating-system version, and Robinhood app version
- The ticker or tickers affected, and whether the problem occurs with one or many
- The exact screen or action that triggers the crash
- Approximate time and time zone, plus whether you were on Wi-Fi or cellular data
- Whether the web version works and whether an order was involved
- A screenshot or screen recording, if it does not reveal sensitive information
