The sale period has ended, and the archived prices do not establish what either phone costs or whether it is available now.
What did JB Hi-Fi’s 2023 Pixel 8 deal include?
The December 2023 catalogue advertised these prices and reductions for the 128GB models. The savings were calculated against the ticketed or advertised prices shown in that catalogue.
| Model | Configuration | Catalogue price | Advertised reduction | Reference price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 8 | 128GB | A$999 | A$200 off (about 16.7%) | A$1,199 |
| Google Pixel 8 Pro | 128GB | A$1,349 | A$350 off (about 20.6%) | A$1,699 |
Those figures come from JB Hi-Fi’s December 2023 End of Year Madness catalogue. The listed configurations were 128GB; the catalogue does not establish that 256GB versions were included in this offer. A later December edition repeated the two prices and described them as “Phone Prices Crunched”: the later catalogue edition.
How should the advertised savings be understood?
The A$200 and A$350 reductions were catalogue comparisons with JB Hi-Fi’s stated ticketed or advertised prices at the time of printing, not proof that these were the lowest prices available in the market. The catalogue’s disclaimer said a product might already have been sold below the reference price before the promotion. Treat the figures as advertised ticket-price reductions, not as evidence of a record-low price or guaranteed saving against other retailers.
#1 Best Overall
The Pixel 8 Pro had the larger listed reduction, both in dollars and as a share of its reference price. That alone does not show it was better value: the Pro cost more, and value also depends on the buyer’s desired features, storage, condition, warranty and alternative prices.
When did the promotion run?
The main 2023 catalogue period ran from Thursday, December 21, 2023, through Wednesday, January 3, 2024. The catalogue was printed using pricing information from December 14, 2023. A catalogue end date did not guarantee that stock would remain available until then: the later edition marked the Pixel listings “while stocks last,” and the promotion was subject to stock availability.

The catalogue promoted shopping in-store and online, but that is not a promise of inventory at every location. Store availability could vary, and the catalogue referred customers to availability information. Do not apply exclusions stated in a later year’s catalogue automatically to this 2023 offer.
Why do some searches show a different Pixel 8 price?
The year, capacity, colour and seller can change what a listing means. JB Hi-Fi’s December 2024 End of Year Madness catalogue, for example, listed different Pixel 8 variants and a newer Pixel 9 Pro:
Rank #3
| 2024 catalogue listing | Price | Advertised reduction |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 8 128GB Rose | A$1,037 | A$150 off A$1,187 |
| Pixel 8 256GB Obsidian | A$1,137 | A$150 off A$1,287 |
| Pixel 9 Pro 128GB | A$1,297 | A$400 off A$1,697 |
These are separate historical listings, not extensions of the 2023 offer. The 2024 catalogue also marked the Pixel 8 listings while stocks lasted. Its general terms said offers were unavailable at Airport and Express stores and excluded Marketplace products; those 2024 terms should not be read as confirmed conditions for the 2023 Pixel listings. See JB Hi-Fi’s 2024 catalogue.
Different results may also reflect a price negotiated before a catalogue was printed, stock at selected stores, or a Marketplace or third-party listing rather than JB Hi-Fi’s own catalogue offer. Check the exact model, storage, colour and seller before comparing prices.

What about the different product IDs in the 2023 catalogues?
The December editions show different product IDs for apparently similar listings: 662710 and 662712 for the Pixel 8, and 662714 and 662716 for the Pixel 8 Pro. The catalogues do not explain the discrepancy, so it is not possible to say from those records whether it reflects colour, inventory coding or an edition-specific listing. The IDs should not be treated as interchangeable proof of a particular colour or variant.
Can you still buy the phones at those prices?
The advertised promotion period ended in January 2024. The archived catalogues do not verify current stock, pricing or warranty coverage. Check JB Hi-Fi’s current store listings or contact a store for today’s availability; do not assume an old catalogue price remains available. A current listing, if one exists, is a separate offer and should be assessed on its own terms.

What to check before buying an older Pixel 8 in 2026
If you find old, clearance or second-hand stock, compare the actual device and purchase terms rather than anchoring on its original ticket price.
- Condition and seller: Confirm whether the phone is new, refurbished or used, and who is selling it. Marketplace listings may have different terms from JB Hi-Fi’s own stock.
- Warranty and returns: Get the warranty provider, coverage start date and return conditions in writing. Check whether opening or activating the handset affects change-of-mind returns.
- Battery and storage: For a used or refurbished phone, ask about battery condition. For sealed old stock, ask how any battery or warranty coverage is handled; do not assume a device’s age is irrelevant simply because it is unopened. Verify storage capacity and colour on the exact listing.
- Network compatibility: Confirm that the specific Australian model supports your carrier’s required network bands, 5G and eSIM features, and ask whether it is unlocked.
- Software support: Check Google’s current official support information for the exact model before buying. The sale catalogues do not establish the remaining update-support period.
- Total cost versus alternatives: Compare the current price with newer Pixel models and other phones that meet your needs, including warranty and condition. A reduction from an old catalogue reference price is not by itself evidence of a good present-day deal.
Bottom line
The 2023 promotion is useful as a historical price reference, not as a live buying offer. The Pro carried the larger advertised discount, but that does not settle which phone was the better purchase; the right comparison is between the exact handset, its present condition and terms, and alternatives available now.
