Expensive Beats: 10 of the Most Expensive Headphones in the World

A qualified ranking of costly headphones and systems, from jeweled limited editions to the Sennheiser HE 1, with price status and availability caveats.

The highest reported headphone prices range from a €100,000 jeweled Focal edition to a celebrity collaboration reportedly valued at about $750,000. Those figures do not all mean the same thing: some are manufacturer prices, some are reported launch or resale values, and some include a dedicated amplifier. This ranking separates those categories and uses figures available as of August 16, 2026; prices, stock and taxes vary by market.

How to read this ranking

There is no audited, continuously updated global leaderboard for headphone prices. The figures below are the highest reported prices identified for these models, not a claim that every pair can still be ordered at that amount.

  • Official price: displayed or stated by the manufacturer. It is the clearest price evidence, but may apply only in a particular country.
  • Reported price: cited by specialist coverage; it may be a launch figure, estimate or resale ask rather than a confirmed retail sale.
  • System price: covers headphones and dedicated electronics, so it is not directly comparable to a headphone-only price.

Prices remain in their reported currencies; no currency conversions are used. The list includes over-ear and on-ear headphones, not in-ear monitors. A specialist roundup is the source for several reported figures; where a manufacturer price is available, that primary source is linked separately.

10 expensive headphones and systems

Rank Model Reported price What the figure represents Availability signal
1 Beats Pro by Dr. Dre × Graff About $750,000 Reported luxury collaboration value Sale status and price provenance not established
2 Loewe × Jacob & Co. Ice Diamond About $135,000 Reported collaboration price Normal retail availability not established
3 Loewe × Jacob & Co. Noir Rainbow About $115,000 Reported collaboration price Availability not established
4 Focal Utopia by Tournaire €100,000; €110,000 with stand Manufacturer-stated price for headphone edition; higher figure includes bronze stand Focal describes an eight-unit numbered edition; confirm whether orders remain open
5 Onkyo H900M Diamond Roughly $85,000–$100,000 Reported range for a gemstone-encrusted model Current availability and official price unclear
6 Sennheiser HE 1 £74,990 Price shown on Sennheiser’s UK page checked for this article; complete headphone-and-amplifier system Official UK product page is active; local stock and pricing vary
7 HiFiMAN Shangri-La Senior About $50,000 Reported price for a complete electrostatic system Current regional price and availability not established
8 V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Platinum About $40,000 Reported precious-metal custom edition Likely discontinued; current sale not established
9 Warwick Acoustics Aperio GoldenSound Signature Edition About $38,000 Reported special-edition system price Current stock not established
10 Spirit Torino Valkyria Titanium About $11,000 Reported retail/list price Current stock and regional price should be confirmed

Ranks 1–3 and 5, 7–10 rely on reported prices rather than verified current manufacturer checkout prices. The list is therefore a comparison of documented high-price claims, not a like-for-like retail catalog. See Headphonesty’s roundup for those reported figures.

1. Beats Pro by Dr. Dre × Graff — about $750,000

This figure is reported for a jewelry-and-celebrity collaboration, not established as a current manufacturer retail price or a documented sale. Its place at the top reflects the reported value of the object, not evidence that its acoustic performance exceeds that of conventional flagship headphones. Treat it as a luxury collectible unless provenance and a verifiable transaction can be established.

2. Loewe × Jacob & Co. Ice Diamond — about $135,000

Specialist coverage reports this price for a luxury collaboration. It is not established as a normal retail-stock price, so prospective buyers would need to verify the seller, edition and transaction history rather than assume the figure is a currently available offer.

3. Loewe × Jacob & Co. Noir Rainbow — about $115,000

The reported price places this design-led collaboration above most engineering-focused headphone systems. As with the Ice Diamond model, current availability and the basis of the quoted price are not established; the figure should not be read as a confirmed current retail price.

4. Focal Utopia by Tournaire — €100,000, or €110,000 with stand

Focal’s product page gives the strongest primary-source price evidence among the jewelry editions here: €100,000 for the headphones, or €110,000 with the bronze stand. The eight-unit numbered edition combines the Utopia headphone with 750-thousandths yellow gold and a total of 6.5 carats of diamonds. Focal says the piece was presented in Paris in September 2016 and describes the creation process as taking more than a year. These details make it a collectible as much as an audio product; gold and diamonds do not, by themselves, improve sound. Focal describes it as available to order in a limited edition, but buyers should ask the company whether an order can still be placed. Focal’s product page lists the edition and prices.

  • PROTECTION INCLUDED: Beoplay H95 includes a robust hardcase to store your headphones in plush security as you travel and experience life to the fullest. Lined with matching textile on the inside, the headphones and accompanying accessories are safely preserved while not in use

5. Onkyo H900M Diamond — roughly $85,000–$100,000

This reported range is attached to a diamond-encrusted commercial model, but a current official price or active manufacturer sales route is not established. A price quoted in a roundup should not be treated as an asking price from an authorized seller or as proof of a completed sale.

6. Sennheiser HE 1 — £74,990 on the UK page

Sennheiser’s UK product page showed £74,990 when checked for this article. The price is for the electrostatic headphones with their dedicated amplifier system, housed in a marble-and-glass enclosure—not for a standalone pair of conventional headphones. Sennheiser lists a frequency range of 8 Hz to more than 100 kHz and distortion of 0.01% at 1 kHz and 100 dB SPL; these are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The UK price does not establish U.S. pricing, taxes, delivery time or local inventory. Consult Sennheiser’s HE 1 page for the product and regional purchase information.

7. HiFiMAN Shangri-La Senior — about $50,000

Specialist coverage reports roughly $50,000 for the Senior system, which is generally discussed as headphones paired with dedicated electrostatic amplification. The current official regional price was not established, so treat the amount as a reported price rather than a live offer. The HiFiMAN product catalog is the manufacturer’s route to check current product information.

8. V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Platinum — about $40,000

The Platinum edition is reported as a precious-metal custom version of the M-100. The quoted figure is not established as a current price, and the edition is likely discontinued. It belongs in a highest-reported-price list, not a shortlist of readily purchasable listening options.

9. Warwick Acoustics Aperio GoldenSound Signature Edition — about $38,000

This reported special-edition price is for a premium headphone system, rather than a standard headphone-only listing. Current stock and the exact contents attached to that figure are not established, so buyers should verify what the quoted package includes before comparing it with other systems.

10. Spirit Torino Valkyria Titanium — about $11,000

Specialist coverage places this titanium model at about $11,000. The amount is a reported retail/list price, not confirmation of current stock in any particular country. Check with the maker or an authorized dealer for current pricing and service arrangements.

Why some headphones cost as much as a car

Jewelry, precious materials and rarity

Gold, diamonds, gemstones, hand engraving and bespoke finishes can dominate the price of a luxury edition. For the Tournaire Utopia, Focal specifies 6.5 carats of diamonds, 750-thousandths yellow gold and only eight numbered units. Such features create material, labor and scarcity value; they are separate from the acoustic performance of the underlying headphone.

Amplification and system engineering

Electrostatic headphones need specialized amplification, which is why systems such as the HE 1 and Shangri-La Senior cannot be compared directly with headphone-only prices. Other high-end designs may also involve complex drivers, precision machining and low-volume manufacturing. Production in small numbers can spread design and tooling costs across fewer units, though an expensive design is not automatically a better match for a listener.

Rank #4
Focal CELESTEE Closed Back Over Ear Headphones (Navy Blue)
  • Closed-back headphones for home and on-the-go use
  • Outstanding design, fine materials and Navy Blue finishes, with Soft Copper details
  • Remarkable sound performance: incredible bass extension, and tonal balance unrivalled in their category
  • Low impedance (35 Ohms) to ensure uncompromising use with a portable audio player

Craftsmanship, brand and collectability

Hand assembly, custom work, numbered editions and collaborations with fashion or jewelry brands add value for some collectors. That value can be difficult to recover on resale: a seller’s asking price is not proof of what a buyer paid, and a scarce item may have a narrower pool of interested buyers than a mainstream flagship.

Which expensive headphones make sense for listening?

For a complete reference system

The HE 1 is the clearest current manufacturer-listed system in this ranking, with a UK price signal and an active product page. Its dedicated amplifier makes it a room-based system rather than a portable headphone purchase. An audition and a clear understanding of regional servicing and delivery matter at this price.

For an audiophile headphone rather than a jewelry object

The Abyss AB-1266 TC is a useful current-price benchmark: ABYSS lists it from $5,995. It is an open-back planar-magnetic headphone made and hand-assembled in the USA, according to the manufacturer. It is far below the jeweled editions, while still sitting firmly in the high-end category. Its open design is not suited to noisy environments, and fit, amplification and comfort should be evaluated before purchase. Check the ABYSS product collection for the current price signal and manufacturer shop information for product details.

For a collector

The Tournaire Utopia has unusually clear manufacturer-published specifications and pricing for a jeweled edition. The Beats × Graff and Loewe × Jacob & Co. pieces have higher reported figures, but their current sale status and price provenance are less clear. For any of them, authenticity documents, condition, edition details and a verifiable purchase route matter more than a list rank.

What to check before spending five figures

  • Confirm the exact package: ask whether the price includes an amplifier, stand, cables, shipping and taxes. Do not compare a complete system with headphones alone without accounting for the difference.
  • Verify the price and currency: distinguish a current official price from a historical launch figure, a reported estimate or a seller’s resale ask. Confirm whether tax is included.
  • Establish availability: get written confirmation of stock, order status, delivery time and whether the edition is still being made.
  • Check ownership support: ask about warranty territory, repair arrangements, replacement pads and cables, and service for limited-edition materials.
  • Audition and assess fit: comfort, weight, pad seal and preferred sound matter more for daily use than precious materials. Confirm amplifier compatibility for specialized systems.
  • Protect the purchase: obtain serial-number and authenticity documentation, check shipping insurance and arrange suitable insurance and secure storage.
  • Think about resale: limited production may make an object rare without making it liquid or easy to sell at its quoted price.

Bottom line: the priciest collectible is not the same as the priciest listening system

On reported prices, jewelry collaborations can appear to outrank everything else, but the best-supported manufacturer price for a jeweled headphone edition here is Focal’s €100,000 Tournaire Utopia, rising to €110,000 with its stand. Sennheiser’s £74,990 UK HE 1 price is a different proposition: a complete electrostatic listening system with dedicated amplification. For conventional audiophile use, a headphone such as the AB-1266 TC is a more relevant comparison than a diamond-encrusted collectible. Price alone cannot establish which will sound best to you.
