OutThink announced a $10 million seed-stage funding round on 19 October 2022, led by AlbionVC. The London-based cybersecurity software company said the investment would support technology development and international distribution, and bring its total funding to $11.4 million. The announcement is historical; it does not establish what the company later did with the money.
Who funded OutThink’s $10 million round?
In its 19 October 2022 funding announcement, OutThink said AlbionVC led the seed-stage round. The company named Gapminder, TriplePoint Capital, Forward Partners and Innovate UK as additional participants. OutThink reported that the financing brought its total raised to $11.4 million.
OutThink said it intended to use the funds to expand its technology leadership and accelerate international distribution. The announcement does not establish whether, or to what extent, it achieved those plans. It also reported that enterprise annual recurring revenue had quadrupled over the preceding year, but supplied no base value; that is a company-reported growth claim, not independently verified performance.
What does OutThink do?
OutThink describes itself as a London-based cybersecurity software startup offering a software-as-a-service platform for enterprise human risk management. In the 2022 announcement, the company said the platform was designed to identify, understand and manage security risks related to employees by influencing security attitudes and behavior. It described its approach as combining machine learning, natural language processing and applied psychology.

The company also said its platform integrated with Microsoft Defender and Sentinel and delivered training through email, Slack and Microsoft Teams. These are descriptions from OutThink’s announcement, not independent assessments of product performance or integration quality.
How OutThink describes its current platform
OutThink’s current platform overview presents a broader collection of capabilities than the 2022 announcement. The company describes these as parts of an enterprise human risk management platform:
- Adaptive security awareness training: training tailored to users or their risk signals.
- AI security-awareness content generator: a tool the company says can generate awareness content.
- AI phishing simulator: phishing simulations described as AI-powered.
- Real-time threats engine: a capability presented as identifying relevant threats in real time.
- Nudging engine: interventions intended to encourage safer behavior.
- Cyber ranges: practical cyber exercises.
- CyberQ: a named capability in the platform overview.
- Human risk intelligence: tools for understanding human-related security risk.
- Conditional access and self-remediation: controls and actions associated with responding to risk.
This list reflects the vendor’s current presentation, not independent verification that every capability is available to every customer. Where OutThink frames a feature as upcoming or part of a future maturity path, it should be understood as forward-looking rather than a confirmed generally available function.
What the company’s scale figures establish—and what they do not
On its current platform overview, accessed in 2026, OutThink reports 100+ enterprise deployments, 10 billion behavioral data points and operation in 80+ countries (company-published scale figures). The page does not explain the methodology or provide separate dates for those figures. They are therefore best read as company claims, not audited measures or evidence on their own of security outcomes.

OutThink CEO and founder Flavius Plesu framed the product as a response to shortcomings in older security-awareness tools: “The idea for OutThink was born out of frustration that first generation SAT & Phishing platforms were failing – overpromising and grossly underdelivering.” The statement appeared in the company’s funding announcement and represents Plesu’s view.
Rank #4
The investment announcement documents a financing event and the company’s stated plans and product positioning at that time. It does not independently establish the platform’s effectiveness, verify customer outcomes, confirm subsequent growth, or show that the funding plans were completed. The available sources also do not provide a controlled comparison with competing vendors. A buyer evaluating human risk management software would need evidence specific to their needs, such as how training is personalized, how phishing exercises are run, what security-stack integrations are supported, how risk is measured, which intervention channels are available, and whether outcomes are demonstrated.
