The company said the round brought its total investment to more than $100 million and would fund team growth and platform expansion. Sentra sells enterprise cloud-data-security software—not a consumer product—and the announcement’s growth figures are company-reported claims.
What Sentra announced
Sentra said the Series B had closed, but its release did not give an independently verified legal closing date. SecurityWeek reported the announcement on April 22, 2025. Alongside lead investor Key1 Capital, existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, and Munich Re Ventures participated. SecurityWeek’s contemporaneous report covered the announcement.
Sentra said it would use the funding to grow its data-security team and expand its platform, particularly to address risks in cloud and AI workflows. The company also reported revenue growth of more than 300% year over year and multiple new Fortune 500 customers. Those figures are company claims in its funding announcement; the release provides no customer count or audited financial results.
What Sentra’s platform does
Sentra positions its Cloud-Native Data Security Platform as enterprise software that discovers and classifies data, assesses security posture, and supports detection and response. SecurityWeek reported that the platform scans data in place and maps stores across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and on-premises systems to identify data classification, policy, and permission risks.

Sentra says scanning occurs within a customer’s environment and describes detection and prevention across multi-cloud and on-premises systems. These are vendor descriptions of its product, not independently established performance results. Omdia’s 2025 DSPM assessment describes Sentra as a SaaS service with discovery, classification, assessment, and remediation capabilities. Omdia recommends it for cloud-centric medium-to-large organizations seeking discovery and classification as a foundation for a broader data-security platform, while noting that Sentra is comparatively small and does not yet cover the full range of DSPM propositions. That is Omdia’s assessment, not a product test conducted for this article. Omdia’s 2025 DSPM report provides the analyst perspective.
Why AI security is part of the pitch
Sentra’s funding announcement linked its expansion plans to growing cloud and AI-related risks. In an April 28, 2025 release, the company said its platform supports AI toolkits including Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock, and OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise. It described features for inventorying AI agents, applying role-aware access controls, monitoring activity, recommending remediation, and showing what data is accessed through AI interactions. These are capabilities announced by Sentra, not independently validated outcomes. The company’s AI-agent announcement quotes CEO and co-founder Yoav Regev: “Organizations must ensure AI agents are used securely, protecting the privacy and integrity of the underlying data on which they depend.”

Sentra’s earlier May 2024 release discussed DataTreks and support for on-premises file shares and databases, framing the product around data movement visibility and policy context. That historical announcement does not establish that every integration it listed remains current. Sentra’s May 2024 release describes that earlier positioning.
How to read the funding and growth figures
- $50 million: the Series B amount reported by Sentra in 2025.
- More than $100 million: Sentra’s stated cumulative investment after the round.
- More than 300% year-over-year revenue growth: a company-reported claim; the release does not provide audited figures or calculation details.
- Multiple new Fortune 500 customers: a company-reported claim with no customer count in the release.
Sentra’s release also quoted a Gartner forecast that application and data security spending would receive more than 15% incremental spend through 2025. That figure is Gartner’s forecast as relayed by Sentra, not independently checked here against Gartner’s original publication. Regev summarized the company’s case for attention to data security this way: “AI is only as secure as the data behind it.”

What enterprise buyers should compare
A funding announcement does not establish whether a security product is the right fit for a particular organization. Buyers evaluating Sentra or another data security posture management (DSPM) platform can compare:
- Discovery coverage: which SaaS, cloud infrastructure, database, and on-premises data sources are supported, and how completely they are mapped.
- Data handling: whether scanning is agentless or performed in place, and what data is collected, processed, or retained.
- Security workflow: whether the product assesses posture, governs access, recommends or performs remediation, and detects or responds to threats.
- AI visibility: which AI agents and workflows are covered, and what controls or monitoring are available.
- Integration fit: how the platform works with existing cloud, identity, and data-loss-prevention tools.
- Vendor breadth and scale: whether the provider’s size and product coverage meet the organization’s support and platform needs. Omdia’s assessment of Sentra notes both its focused discovery-and-classification proposition and its comparatively small scale.
These dimensions help frame a selection process; Omdia’s report is one analyst assessment, not a complete vendor bake-off.
