Neon Mobile is a rewards app that promotes payments for calls made through its service, but its current store listings do not state a specific rate. The frequently repeated launch figures—30 cents per minute for calls between Neon users and up to $30 a day for calls to non-users—were reported in September 2025 and should not be treated as current terms. Before participating, weigh any verified offer against the privacy implications of sharing call audio and Neon’s reported security incident.
What Neon offers
Neon Mobile, listed as “Neon – Money Talks,” promotes paid calls and referral rewards. Its Google Play listing says users can earn rewards for conversations with other Neon users and make calls through the app. The listing also promotes quick payouts, but does not specify the amount, eligibility rules, withdrawal threshold, or detailed approval process. Neon’s Apple App Store listing likewise describes paid calls and referrals and identifies Neon Mobile Inc. as the developer. Those descriptions establish what the app advertises, not how much a typical user will earn. Apple App Store listing
How much does Neon pay?
There is no exact current rate in the Google Play listing reviewed. A September 25, 2025, ExtremeTech report described launch-period offers of 30 cents per minute for calls between Neon users and up to $30 per day for calls to people who were not Neon users. Those are historical reported offers, not verified current rates; the daily figure was an “up to” amount, not a guaranteed payment. ExtremeTech’s September 2025 report

Check Neon’s current terms and FAQ in the app or through its official listing before estimating income. Confirm which calls qualify, how the app calculates rewards, whether calls need approval, and the minimum and method for withdrawing funds. Without those terms, an advertised reward cannot be translated reliably into expected monthly earnings.
What happens to call recordings and other data?
Neon’s Google Play data-safety disclosures say the app may collect personal information and audio, and may share personal information, audio, and other data with third parties. The listing also says data is encrypted in transit and that users can request deletion. These are developer-provided disclosures; they do not independently verify how every recording is handled or establish that requesting deletion removes every copy held elsewhere. Google Play listing

The same listing says Neon anonymizes recordings and redacts personal information. Anonymization should not be taken to mean that audio is risk-free: a voice and the surrounding conversation are the material being collected, and a recording may contain identifying details or sensitive information. Read the current privacy policy and terms for retention, sharing, and deletion details before making calls.
Neon’s security history
In September 2025, TechCrunch reported that a flaw in the original Neon service exposed users’ phone numbers, call recordings, and transcripts to other users. The company took the service offline after the flaw was reported. This incident is relevant context for anyone deciding whether to entrust the app with conversations. TechCrunch’s report

Whether a call may be recorded depends on the law that applies to the people and circumstances involved. A rule that applies where you are may not settle the question for a person on the other end in another location. The sources reviewed do not establish one legal rule for every user. Check current law applicable to the call and Neon’s current consent requirements; obtain consent where required.

- Verify the current rate, qualifying call types, reward approval rules, and withdrawal minimum in Neon’s current terms or FAQ.
- Read what audio and personal information may be collected or shared, how long recordings are retained, and what a deletion request covers.
- Consider whether you and the other caller are comfortable with the conversation being recorded and used as described by the app.
- Factor in the reported 2025 exposure when deciding whether the reward is worth sharing sensitive voice data.
