In a report published March 14, 2007, DataCenterKnowledge said Alpheus Communications acquired Aspen Communications, a Dallas-based colocation and hosting provider, along with its data center facilities. Alpheus said Aspen would be integrated immediately and take the Alpheus name. The report did not disclose a purchase price or establish what happened after that announcement.

What Alpheus acquired

The reported target was Aspen Communications—not a separately identified company called “Aspen Data Centers.” DataCenterKnowledge described Aspen as a provider of colocation and hosting services. Its report lists facilities in Dallas, Fort Worth, Bryan/College Station, and El Paso/Juarez.

Reported location Address listed in the report
Dallas 2323 Bryan; 901 Main
Fort Worth 307 W. 7th Street
Bryan/College Station 120 Main
El Paso/Juarez 6842 Industrial/7930 Thomas Fernandez Blvd.

The address list describes facilities associated with Aspen in the report; it does not establish property ownership or the transaction status of each individual site.

Why Alpheus said it made the acquisition

Alpheus presented the deal as a way to combine its telecommunications network and Metrolocity multi-carrier peering product with Aspen’s data center capabilities for enterprise customers. Chairman and CEO Paul Hobby described the combination as bringing telecommunications and information technology services together.

What Alpheus announced about integration

The March 14, 2007 report said Aspen would be integrated into Alpheus immediately and adopt the Alpheus name. That records the company’s announced plan at the time; it does not establish the eventual integration outcome.

What the report does not establish

DataCenterKnowledge did not report the purchase price, definitive transaction terms, or closing date. The report also provides no later operating results or confirmation of how the integration proceeded. Its deal description, facility list, and executive comments should therefore be read as the contents of that 2007 report, not as a complete transaction record.
