The fastest way to create a Google review QR code is through your business’s Google Business Profile on a computer: open the profile, select Read Reviews, choose Get more reviews, then save the QR image shown. You can also copy the review URL for email, receipts, chat and messaging. Google’s official feature is free; you do not need a paid QR-code generator.
Create the official Google review QR code
Google’s current instructions allow review QR codes to be generated in a computer browser, not from the Google Business Profile mobile app. Use the profile that manages the location you want customers to review.
- On a computer, sign in to the Google Account that manages the Business Profile.
- Open the business’s Google Business Profile in the browser.
- Select Read Reviews.
- Select Get more reviews.
- For digital use, choose the option to copy the review link. For a printed display, right-click the displayed QR code and save the image to your computer.
- Scan the saved image with a phone camera before printing or distributing it. This confirms that the file and destination work at the size and distance customers will use.
Google labels this feature “Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews”. If the QR option is missing, confirm that you are using a computer browser and have access to the correct Business Profile.
Choose a review URL, QR code, or both
The URL and QR image lead customers into the same review-request flow. Choose the format that fits the customer’s setting; neither format changes Google’s requirements for honest, independent reviews.

#1 Best Overall
| Format | Best use | Implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Review URL | Email, digital receipts, SMS or WhatsApp messages, chat follow-ups, and Facebook posts | Copy the link from Get more reviews and paste it into the message or button. |
| QR-code image | Countertop signs, checkout displays, printed receipts, menus or other in-person materials | Save the QR image from the computer browser, test it with a phone, then print it at a scannable size. |
Google specifically suggests sharing the link in receipts, thank-you emails and the end of chat interactions, and printing and displaying the QR code in a store. Its help guidance also lists email, WhatsApp and Facebook as sharing channels (Google Business Profile Help).
How to deploy the code without frustrating customers
Digital requests
- Add the review URL to the digital receipt or post-purchase thank-you email.
- Include one clear call to action in a support or sales chat after the customer’s issue is resolved.
- Use the direct link in a WhatsApp message or Facebook post when that channel is appropriate for your customers.
Printed displays
- Place the QR code where a customer naturally has time to scan, such as a checkout counter or receipt.
- Add plain-language instructions such as “Scan to share your honest experience on Google.”
- Keep the code unobstructed and retest the final printed version, especially after resizing or adding a logo.
A QR-code table sign or countertop display is optional. Google recommends printing and displaying the code in-store, but no physical product is required to create the link or QR image.

Google review policies you must follow
A QR code makes access easier; it does not make an incentivized or manipulated review acceptable. Reviews must represent a customer’s genuine experience. Google prohibits offering payment, discounts, free goods or services in exchange for a review, a changed review or removal of a negative review (Prohibited & restricted content).
Ask consistently, not selectively
Invite customers who have had a genuine experience rather than screening for people likely to leave a high rating. Do not discourage customers from posting negative feedback, require particular wording, or pressure someone to review while they are on your premises. You may ask for an honest review as long as you do not offer an incentive or try to influence the rating or content.

Understand the consequences
Google may remove reviews that violate its policies and restrict the associated Business Profile. Possible restrictions include temporarily blocking new reviews, temporarily unpublishing existing reviews and showing a warning to consumers. Details are in Google’s Business Profile restrictions for policy violations.

Customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave a review. Google says that account can use a non-Gmail email address, so a Gmail inbox is not required (Tips to get more reviews). If someone scans the code but cannot submit a review, signing in to a Google Account is the first thing to check.

A practical launch checklist
- Generate the link or QR image from the correct Business Profile in a computer browser.
- Scan the saved image with more than one phone if possible.
- Check the final printed sign or receipt after resizing.
- Use a neutral request for an honest review.
- Send the request to customers with genuine experience, not only customers expected to be positive.
- Do not offer rewards, discounts or gifts, request specific wording, or ask customers to remove criticism.
- Remember that every reviewer needs a signed-in Google Account, including one registered with a non-Gmail address.
