Pythian reported a 175% year-over-year increase in its Google Workspace services, according to CEO Brooks Borcherding in a CRN interview. The figure describes Pythian’s services business—not growth in Google Workspace itself—and has not been independently audited in the published interview. Borcherding linked the increase to change-management work around Gemini and faster Gemini deployments.
What Pythian’s 175% figure actually measures
Borcherding said, “We saw 175 percent growth in our Workspace services year over year.” That is a company-reported services figure attributed to Pythian’s CEO and reported by CRN. The interview does not provide the starting revenue base, calculation method, or an independent audit, so it should not be read as a market-growth statistic or as evidence that Google Workspace sales overall rose 175%.
| Claim | What the interview establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| 175% growth | Pythian’s Workspace services grew 175% year over year, according to Borcherding. | The company’s revenue base, methodology, profitability, or independent verification. |
| Growth driver | Borcherding attributed momentum to Gemini adoption change management and accelerated deployments. | A measured causal effect or productivity uplift. |
| Google Cloud fit | He said Google’s data focus and AI stack matched Pythian’s priorities. | A neutral comparison proving Google is superior to other cloud providers. |
How Pythian says it is using Gemini internally
Pythian is encouraging employees to use Gemini, create agents and alter everyday work practices. Borcherding presented that internal adoption as both an enablement effort and a way to support growth and efficiency. The interview does not quantify time saved, output increases, cost reductions or other productivity results.
Change management is the commercial service
The growth explanation places implementation and behavior change alongside the software itself. Organizations adopting Gemini may need training, governance, policy decisions and support for teams that must change established workflows. Pythian’s account suggests those services can be part of a Workspace engagement, but it is not an independently tested industry-wide finding.

Why data engineering remains central to the AI plan
Borcherding argued that useful AI depends on clean, well-managed data. In his view, greater demand for AI therefore creates additional demand for Pythian’s data engineering and analytics work. This is an executive explanation of the opportunity, not a separately verified causal analysis.
For a prospective customer, the practical issue is whether data is discoverable, governed and connected to the systems employees need. An AI rollout that ignores ownership, quality, access controls or retention rules can produce unreliable answers and additional compliance risk.

Pythian’s AIOps use cases
The company is exploring AI in its managed-services operation. Borcherding described several intended uses:
- Improving responses to service tickets.
- Automating common replies.
- Helping teams improve customer infrastructure.
The interview supplies no measured accuracy, response-time, staffing or customer-outcome results for these experiments. They should therefore be treated as planned or exploratory use cases rather than proven benefits.

What the new Google Cloud Partner Network is expected to change
Borcherding said the Google Cloud Partner Network went live on January 15. He described a hoped-for shift from a largely manual process for recognizing partner investments, credentials and customer work toward more AI-enabled measurement and insight.
His comments are expectations, not a complete official specification of the program. The interview does not detail eligibility rules, scoring, payment terms, certification treatment or how partner credit will be calculated. Companies relying on those details should consult Google Cloud’s current partner documentation.

Why Pythian continues to emphasize Google Cloud
Borcherding said Google suited Pythian because of its data orientation and AI tooling. He also said Pythian’s influence, direct revenue and field engagement increased from 2024 to 2025. Those are executive-reported assessments and measures, rather than independently compared results across cloud vendors.
CRN’s earlier 2025 coverage reported that Pythian had won Google Cloud’s North America Database Partner of the Year award. That report also described the company’s “AI Jedi” practice as an organization-wide framework covering investment, governance, policy, architecture, education and build-versus-buy decisions.

What earlier AI Jedi and Agentspace coverage means today
The 2025 CRN report said Pythian offered AI Jedi services through Google Cloud Marketplace at that time. That historical listing does not confirm that the service is currently available, nor does it establish referral terms, commissions or a current customer route.
The same report quoted CTO Paul Lewis describing Agentspace as a way to connect enterprise data and applications to AI agents. Product names, packaging and capabilities can change; treat that description as 2025 context rather than a current product specification.
Questions to ask before funding an enterprise Gemini rollout
Pythian’s account points to a set of due-diligence questions for organizations evaluating an AI program:
Adoption and workflow change
- Which employee groups need training, coaching or redesigned processes?
- How will usage be encouraged without making unapproved tools the default?
Data readiness
- Are key sources accurate, classified and accessible to authorized users?
- Who owns remediation when data is incomplete or contradictory?
Governance and policy
- What information may be entered into AI systems?
- How are human review, audit logs, retention and incident response handled?
Integration
- Can the proposed agents work with existing applications and identity controls?
- What happens when an integration, model or vendor policy changes?
Measurement
- Which baseline metrics will be compared with post-rollout results?
- Will success be measured through cycle time, service quality, adoption, cost or revenue—and over what period?
What readers should take from the interview
Pythian’s reported 175% Workspace-services increase illustrates how a cloud consultancy is positioning Gemini adoption, data engineering and managed-service automation as a connected business. It is a useful view of one partner’s strategy, not independent proof of Gemini’s financial return, Google Workspace’s market growth or the final economics of Google Cloud’s new partner network.
