Kaseya Adds INKY Email Security Alongside Datto Backup Announcements

Kaseya’s INKY acquisition adds an email-security announcement alongside Datto backup products. The offerings address different needs, and key packaging and transition details should be confirmed with Kaseya.

Kaseya announced it had acquired INKY, an email-security specialist serving managed service providers (MSPs) and small and midsize businesses, on October 7, 2025. At the same DattoCon event, it announced new backup offerings. INKY is an email-security product—not a backup product—and Kaseya positioned it as part of a broader security platform available through Kaseya 365 User.

What Kaseya announced at DattoCon 2025

The October 7 announcements covered two distinct areas: email security through INKY and backup and recovery through Datto. Kaseya said it had acquired INKY, describing the company’s technology as generative-AI-based email security for MSPs and SMBs. Separately, it announced Datto SIRIS 6, Datto Backup for Microsoft Entra ID, and a preview of a Cyber Resiliency platform.

Kaseya CEO Rania Succar said the acquisition would help inform INKY with data from Kaseya’s platform, integrate it across the ecosystem, and make it available through Kaseya 365 User. Those are Kaseya’s plans and positioning; the announcement does not establish current bundle terms or implementation details. Succar said, “Kaseya is committed to being the indispensable partner that helps MSPs lead in this next chapter of IT and security.” Kaseya’s acquisition announcement sets out the company’s rationale.

What each product is intended to protect

Offering Focus What the announcement establishes
INKY Email security Kaseya described it as generative-AI-based email security for MSPs and SMBs, with planned availability through Kaseya 365 User. Kaseya’s October 7, 2025 announcement does not specify current packaging or deployment details.
Datto SIRIS 6 Backup and recovery Kaseya announced the product and claimed it is 50% faster and scales from 2TB to 25TB. Those figures are vendor claims, not independently verified test results.
Datto Backup for Microsoft Entra ID Identity-data backup ChannelPro reported it was intended to protect data such as users, groups, and roles, and planned to be available as a standalone product and through Kaseya 365 User.
Cyber Resiliency platform Cyber resilience Kaseya previewed the platform; the cited announcement does not establish a full product specification or roadmap.

The distinction matters when comparing tools: email security aims to detect and address email threats, while backup products preserve data for recovery. The announcements do not provide enough detail to compare restore granularity, recovery times, or total cost across offerings.

What the SIRIS 6 figures do—and do not—show

Kaseya said Datto SIRIS 6 is 50% faster and can scale from 2TB to 25TB. The announcement does not establish the test conditions or an independent benchmark validating the speed comparison, so MSPs should treat the percentage as a vendor claim rather than a guaranteed result for a particular deployment. The capacity range is also Kaseya’s stated specification, not an independently assessed measure of recovery performance.

What INKY may mean for MSPs

ChannelPro’s December 2025 report quoted Kaseya and MSP customers describing the acquisition as addressing a gap in Kaseya’s email-security offering. Kaseya Chief Product Officer Jim Lippie said, “Knowing that we had to up our game with email security, we did exactly that.” Solarus Technologies CEO and co-founder Matthew Nikravesh characterized the prior offering more bluntly: “To be completely frank, Kaseya did not have a viable product around email security, and this acquisition proves that.” These are attributed opinions, not independent comparative testing.

INKY founder Dave Baggett, who ChannelPro identified as Kaseya senior vice president and general manager of security suite, explained the detection rationale: “To do perfect detection now requires you to look at signals outside of the emails themselves.” ChannelPro also reported that Kaseya planned to sunset Graphus, its earlier email-security product. That is reported transition context; it does not confirm that a sunset has since been completed. ChannelPro’s December 2025 report includes the customer and executive comments.

What MSPs should verify before making a decision

  • Current packaging: Confirm whether INKY and Datto Backup for Microsoft Entra ID are currently included in Kaseya 365 User, offered standalone, or subject to different terms. The announcement and reporting describe planned availability, not necessarily today’s contract terms.
  • Coverage and recovery: Check the current product documentation for which data each service protects, what can be restored, and the recovery process. The announcement-level information does not settle recovery scope or recovery-time expectations.
  • Migration and continuity: If using Graphus, ask Kaseya for the current transition status, migration path, and support arrangements rather than assuming the reported sunset is complete.
  • Operational and financial fit: Compare integration with existing tools and the actual service and contract costs. Bundle economics and fewer tools were cited as potential benefits by customers, but they are not universal outcomes or independent cost comparisons.
  • Evidence behind performance claims: Request the testing methodology and deployment conditions behind SIRIS 6’s stated speed improvement, then assess whether those conditions match your environment.
