Amp’s AI Home Gym Is No Longer Just a Launch Promise: Price, Availability and What to Know

Amp’s 2024 U.S.-launch story is now a buying question: the device is listed at $1,795, requires wall installation and a seven-foot ceiling, and has conflicting official membership prices. Here is what the AI, hardware and total cost mean.

Short version: Amp is now marketed as a purchasable U.S. wall-mounted strength-training system, not merely a proposed November 2024 launch. The device is listed at $1,795, requires wall installation and a seven-foot ceiling, and is sold with a paid membership. Amp’s own pages currently show two different membership prices—$23 per month on one page and $36 per month with a 12-month minimum on another—so verify the amount, commitment and cancellation terms at checkout.

What amp is

Amp combines electronically controlled resistance, an adjustable cable arm, a companion mobile app and guided workouts in a residential-sized machine. It is designed to replace some of the functions of a cable station while adding software for programming, progress tracking, gamification and load recommendations. Amp’s product overview emphasizes a compact, quiet design and an adjustable arm rather than a full rack of free weights. Amp’s product overview

This is a home strength system, not a general-purpose AI home robot. “Your home” in the original launch coverage referred to bringing the fitness equipment into a residential setting, not controlling appliances or other smart-home devices.

What happened to the November 2024 U.S. launch?

The original GeekWire contributor article was published on November 7, 2024 and said Amp expected to begin U.S. sales that month. That wording described a planned launch, not proof that sales began on a particular day or that units shipped at a specified volume. Read the November 7, 2024 article

Amp now has an official U.S. “buy now” page and current product information. The available material does not independently establish the precise start date, initial fulfillment performance or whether every promise in the 2024 promotional coverage arrived on schedule. Treat the old “this month” headline as historical context, not current breaking news.

What Amp says its AI does

Amp describes software that uses exercise history, goals, performance patterns and progress to personalize workouts. Its sales material also describes automatic weight adjustments, adaptive programs and an AI coach that guides form. Those are company claims; the available sources do not provide independent accuracy testing or a technical description detailed enough to classify the system as generative conversation, machine-learning programming, computer-vision analysis or a particular combination.

Questions to answer before relying on the coaching

  • Does resistance change during a set, between sets or only in later workouts?
  • What signals drive recommendations—repetitions, range of motion, movement speed, completion history, perceived exertion or user-entered data?
  • Can you override a suggested load, and how does the system respond to fatigue, injury or an unusually strong user?
  • Which AI, workout-library and history features stop working when membership ends?

The 2024 coverage referred to real-time adaptation but supplied no methodology, test results or accuracy data. “AI” should therefore be read as a description of Amp’s software proposition, not a guarantee of safer form or better results.

Hardware, resistance and room requirements

Specification Current official signal
Device price $1,795
Approximate size 6 feet high × 2 feet wide × 1 foot deep
Ceiling requirement 7 feet
Workout area About 3 feet wide × 7 feet deep, plus practical clearance from the wall
Device weight 70 pounds
Maximum listed resistance 100 pounds; confirm how that figure applies to a particular cable, movement and mode
Resistance modes Fixed, Band and Eccentric
Connectivity Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1

The package lists five accessories: a rope, single handle, dual handle, T-bar and ankle straps. The arm has multiple locking positions. Official pages variously mention 400-plus, 600-plus and 700-plus movements or workouts, so the defensible description is “hundreds of exercises and workouts,” with the exact library depending on the page and offer.

Installation is part of the purchase

Amp advertises complimentary professional, or white-glove, installation. One official description says installation takes about 30 minutes and requires drilling eight holes into the wall. Before ordering, confirm that the wall can accept the supplied anchors and ask what happens with masonry, unusual surfaces, baseboards, reinforcement or a future move.

  • Measure ceiling height and the complete forward movement zone, not just the machine’s one-foot depth.
  • Confirm the installer’s requirements for studs, concrete, drywall and wall reinforcement.
  • Ask whether removal or reinstallation is included in a return.
  • Amp’s catalog currently signals $300 for room-to-room relocation and $500 for a different address; treat those as catalog prices to confirm, not guaranteed quotes.

The real cost: device, membership and financing

Cost item Amount or signal What to check
Device $1,795 Taxes and any delivery or service charges
Financing $75 per month for 24 months Affirm eligibility, APR and total repayment; $75 × 24 equals $1,800 before any interest or fees
Membership offer A $23 per month Whether this is an introductory or continuing rate
Membership offer B $36 per month with a 12-month minimum Commitment, renewal and cancellation terms
Accessory rack $110 catalog signal Optional storage, not required for training
Protection plan Starting at $99.99 on one official page Coverage, exclusions and overlap with existing protection

The membership discrepancy is material. Using only the listed device price and ignoring taxes, financing costs and add-ons, the first-year totals would be approximately $2,071 at $23 per month or $2,227 at $36 per month. Over three years, those illustrations become approximately $2,623 and $3,091. They are not quotes: the lower figure may be an introductory offer, while the higher figure may reflect a required minimum term.

Crossrope AMP 2.0 Smart Jump Rope Set with 1/4 LB, 1/2 LB & 1LB Jump Ropes – Bluetooth-Connected, High-Intensity Fitness Training for High Calorie Burn and Cardio - Medium - Membership Required
  • Bluetooth-connected weighted jump rope set for high-intensity interval & endurance fitness training
  • AMP 2.0 lets you easily switch between up to 4 sets of AMP handles for smooth rope transitions, and use a triple-click on your Bluetooth handle to instantly rewind intervals
  • Burn calories faster: Crossrope App provides personalized jump targets, benchmarks and stats tracking, plus Free Jump Mode. Membership activation instructions delivered upon product receipt
  • Elevate performance training in major muscle groups: real-time jump counting technology & feedback
  • Track fitness progress & earn badges for completing workouts; Perfect for a gym, office, travel or home workout

Amp’s official membership page describes personalized workouts, automatic weight adjustments, gamification and hundreds of movements, but current pages do not clearly establish every capability without an active subscription. Before buying, ask whether resistance, manual loads, saved history, preloaded workouts, offline use and household profiles remain available after cancellation. See the membership page

Returns, warranty and financing

Current product pages advertise a 90-day return or trial period and a one-year limited warranty. Confirm who pays for removal and return shipping, whether installation damage or wall repairs are covered, and how a financed balance is handled after a return. “Free returns” does not by itself answer those practical questions.

Who is amp a good fit for?

Likely good fits

  • A homeowner with a suitable wall, seven-foot ceiling and roughly 3-by-7-foot operating area.
  • A beginner who wants structured sessions, load suggestions and progress tracking.
  • A household willing to share one installed machine and one membership, subject to the account limits shown at checkout.
  • A user who wants quieter, more compact resistance training than a traditional cable machine.
  • An experienced trainee seeking a digital cable system rather than a barbell rack.

Likely poor fits

  • Renters who cannot drill eight holes or obtain permission for permanent installation.
  • Powerlifters, Olympic lifters or athletes who need heavy squats, specialized machines or loads beyond the listed 100-pound maximum.
  • Buyers who reject recurring subscriptions or depend on offline access.
  • Homes with ceilings below seven feet or insufficient forward clearance.
  • Anyone expecting software to replace medical, rehabilitation or qualified personal-training advice.
  • Buyers outside the United States: Amp’s terms dated April 14, 2026 say the products are intended for U.S. sale and are not offered for sale or shipment outside the U.S. Read Amp’s terms

How amp compares with other ways to train

Option Main advantage Main trade-off
Amp Compact digital resistance with guided programming Wall installation, subscription and a 100-pound listed maximum
Adjustable dumbbells and bench No software subscription and flexible manual use More storage and self-directed programming
Rack, barbell and plates Best path for maximal compound lifting and long-term load progression Much larger, heavier and more demanding to install
Other connected cable systems May offer a different ecosystem, library or review record Must compare exact resistance, fees, footprint, installation and returns
App-only training Low hardware cost and broad programming choice Requires separate equipment and provides no integrated resistance
Commercial gym Widest equipment selection and possible in-person support Travel, recurring membership and less privacy

Checks to make before placing the order

  1. Measure the ceiling, wall, user movement area and clearance around the arm.
  2. Send Amp photos or details of the intended wall and confirm anchor and surface requirements.
  3. At checkout, record the exact device price, membership price, minimum term, renewal and cancellation policy.
  4. Ask what remains usable without membership and whether internet outages interrupt workouts.
  5. Confirm the 90-day return process, removal charges, wall repair responsibility and financing treatment.
  6. Review privacy and data practices before enabling household profiles or sharing performance data.
  7. Decide whether 100 pounds of listed resistance matches your actual progression needs.

Verdict

Amp is a credible, currently marketed U.S. product proposition for buyers who value a small, design-conscious cable system, guided programming and software-assisted personalization. Its financial case is less simple than the $1,795 headline: membership pricing conflicts across official pages, financing can obscure total repayment, and installation creates moving and return costs. It makes the most sense for a homeowner who accepts those commitments and wants compact digital resistance—not as a universal replacement for free weights, a full gym or professional coaching.
