Bitsight announced its acquisition of Cybersixgill on November 14, 2024, describing it as a $115 million deal. The transaction closed on December 11, 2024. The combination joins Bitsight’s security ratings, attack-surface and third-party-risk data with Cybersixgill’s intelligence from clear-, deep- and dark-web sources. Cybersixgill is now presented as part of Bitsight, with its capabilities marketed through Bitsight Cyber Threat Intelligence.

What happened

Bitsight Technologies signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cybersixgill, an Israel-headquartered cyber-threat-intelligence company, on November 14, 2024. Bitsight announced the transaction at a stated value of $115 million; the public announcement does not provide a detailed breakdown of cash, assumed liabilities, earn-outs or other consideration, so the figure should not be treated as independently verified cash paid at closing.

Bitsight later announced that the acquisition closed on December 11, 2024. Cybersixgill was advised by Piper Sandler & Co., and Bitsight said it intended to retain the company’s presence in Israel. Cybersixgill had more than 80 employees globally when the deal was announced.

What Cybersixgill brought to Bitsight

Cybersixgill was more than a dark-web monitoring vendor. Its stated collection scope included:

  • Deep- and dark-web forums and marketplaces
  • Invite-only messaging groups, code repositories and paste sites
  • Clear-web platforms and other underground sources
  • Compromised credentials and leaked information
  • Vulnerability and exploit intelligence
  • Ransomware, adversary, tactics, techniques, procedures and indicator-of-compromise intelligence

The companies also highlighted Cybersixgill IQ, a generative-AI capability intended to help explain intelligence, produce analysis and reports, and assist investigations. That description establishes a product feature, not proof that AI independently verifies every signal.

Why Bitsight wanted the acquisition

Bitsight already focused on measuring external cyber exposure: internet-facing assets, security ratings, attack surfaces and third-party risk. Cybersixgill supplied intelligence about what attackers were discussing, selling, exploiting or targeting.

Question Primary data type
What assets, vendors, vulnerabilities and identities are exposed? Exposure management and security ratings
Which adversaries, campaigns, exploits, credentials or underground discussions are relevant? Cyber-threat intelligence
What deserves attention first? Contextual prioritization linking exposure to active threats

Bitsight positioned the combined platform for first-party environments, suppliers and wider supply chains. Whether that produces better remediation outcomes is a proposition to test, not an independently measured result of the acquisition.

What changed after closing

Cybersixgill is no longer primarily marketed as a separate vendor. Its former site now says it is “now part of Bitsight,” while Bitsight markets the resulting capability as Bitsight Cyber Threat Intelligence.

Bitsight says the current offering combines threat signals with an organization’s attack surface and covers identity, vulnerability, ransomware, adversary and brand intelligence. On its product page, Bitsight reports more than 7 million intelligence items curated daily, more than 1,000 underground forums and marketplaces crawled continuously, more than 100 billion compromised credentials in its database, more than 1 billion credentials added weekly, and enrichment in less than one minute. These are current vendor-reported marketing figures, not independently audited measurements.

What customers can use it for

  • Find compromised employee or supplier credentials.
  • Prioritize vulnerabilities using observed exploitation or threat activity.
  • Track ransomware groups, adversaries and campaigns relevant to a company or industry.
  • Connect a supplier’s threat exposure to supply-chain risk.
  • Support security operations, incident response, threat hunting and executive reporting.
  • Generate intelligence briefings and reports.
  • Give MSSPs a common intelligence platform across customers.

Existing Bitsight customers may gain threat context without adding a separate CTI platform. Existing Cybersixgill customers should confirm migration, renewal, API and data-retention terms directly with Bitsight; public material does not establish universal end-of-life or contract policies.

Who is most likely to benefit

  • Large enterprises with complex external attack surfaces
  • Financial, healthcare, energy, manufacturing, retail, technology and government organizations
  • Companies with large or high-risk vendor ecosystems
  • MSSPs and managed-SOC providers
  • Teams already using Bitsight ratings, third-party monitoring or attack-surface products
  • Security groups that lack staff to collect and analyze underground intelligence themselves

Risks, limitations and practical tests

A larger intelligence lake does not automatically mean more accurate intelligence. Buyers should test:

How to interpret common alerts

  • An old leaked credential may identify password reuse risk, but it is not proof that an account is currently compromised.
  • A ransomware group’s post is an allegation, not confirmation that a vendor suffered a breach.
  • Vulnerability discussion, a proof of concept and confirmed exploitation are different evidence levels.
  • Shared infrastructure, subsidiaries and similarly named organizations can create attribution errors.
  • Incomplete asset inventories can lead to incomplete or incorrect correlation.
  • Forums can disappear, migrate or restrict access, changing coverage over time.

What the deal says about the cybersecurity market

The acquisition illustrates convergence among security ratings, external-attack-surface management, third-party risk, digital-risk protection, credential intelligence, vulnerability intelligence and dark-web monitoring. The broader direction is toward continuously updated risk context: not only what is exposed, but whether active adversaries are connected to that exposure. That is an analytical implication of the companies’ positioning, not proof that the transaction transformed the market.

Alternatives buyers may compare

A pure-play CTI platform such as Recorded Future may suit organizations seeking broad analyst-oriented intelligence workflows. ZeroFox is positioned around digital-risk protection, impersonation, phishing, fraud and online-threat disruption. SecurityScorecard is a natural comparison for security ratings and supplier-risk management, while KELA may appeal to buyers prioritizing underground intelligence depth. Organizations standardized on CrowdStrike can also compare Falcon Intelligence for native security-operations integration. Coverage, verification, integrations and licensing should be tested rather than inferred from brand names or advertised data volumes.

TP-Link AC1200 Gigabit Dual Band WiFi Router (Archer A6)
  • Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
  • Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
  • Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
  • MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
  • Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home

Transaction-value caveat

An Elron Ventures filing surfaced in connection with the transaction refers to approximately $22 million, but the available material does not establish whether that is Elron’s proceeds, a tranche or total consideration. It should not be equated with Bitsight’s announced $115 million deal value without reviewing the complete filing: Elron filing.

The Bottom Line

Bitsight’s $115 million Cybersixgill acquisition closed on December 11, 2024. Its strategic value is the attempted link between external exposure and active-threat intelligence; the practical test is whether that link produces accurate, organization-specific remediation priorities at a price and level of evidence a buyer can defend.
